Misdiagnosed the repairs at a cost of $2,000. Returned with the same issue twice. Now they say it needs an engine. Refuse to give any credit for the repairs that didn't correct the problem.The mistake was theirs.

2023 Update:Since my original review I have taken several of my family s cars here and have been 100% satisfied with the work, communication and price. Some of the work was complicated and beyond me anyway. Having done years of DIY repairs it is so clear to me that professional, honest mechanics are worth every penny. I can t do as much as I used to so it s nice to have a local family run business to take care of this for me. Even took my truck there last week for ball joints and brakes, no one but me has ever worked on that thing and it really needed some TLC. I would have been throwing parts at the problem but G&S got right to the issues and took care of them. Thanks! Phil and Jeremy are great and Miss Judy is a dear lady. Nice work! Needed an alignment done and they were able to accommodate same day even though you could tell this is a busy shop. Excellent service and pleasant people. Work was done properly and timely. Very fair price with none of the upselling that happens at the chain shops.

We were fortunate to find them! We have used them several times. They are fast, friendly and priced very fair. They are very honest and don't charge you for repairs you don't need. The recent repair we had done another shop gave us a $748 estimate. We picked the truck up and took it here! It was fixed in a couple hours and under $200! If you need high quality mechanics, go see Phil or Jeremy at G & S Automotive on Mace Ave in Essex. They will do the repairs right the 1st time. Give them a challenge and they'll get it done.

I found g&s after having a negative experience somewhere else. I will bring my car here from now on. The service was quick and reasonably priced and the people were SUPER NICE!!!!!!!!! I've been taking my car to them for almost a year now. As a woman, I don't feel like they are scamming me, or trying to get one over on me like I feel at a lot of other places. They have been very understanding, which is huge for this single mom. I love all of the staff and will definitely be bringing my car there first before I take it anywhere else.

These guys have never failed me. My family has been going to them since they were BTG. When Phil & Chuck took over they got even better. They will not fix anything without telling you the cost first. They've always been reasonable with their cost. My mom called there to see if they could reset her check engine light. They told her that they would. My mom went there and then were very nice to her. The technician reset for her and Jenny the lady who works there was very friendly. My mom and I are new to this area and we will be going back there again and we will recommend family and friends to them

I can't believe I'm seeing these other reviews, must be a fake review company composing there reviews. Here is the truth horrible experience they lie and create problems that do not exist for example they loosened the bolts in the universal joint. Then convinced my wife we needed a new one and charged me a fortune to replace it. Never let your family members go here. Predatory and dishonest.

Been going to these guys since they we're called BTG auto. They have always taken care of my cars for my family and been very reasonable with their prices. If they have to do any work they will let you know anything beforehand.
