Last weekend a rock thrown up by another vehicle chipped my windshield all the way through. I called Portland Glass of Damariscotta Monday morning and was given an appointment for Wednesday at noon. The people I dealt with were courteous and efficient. They took my truck in promptly and repaired the chip with polymer resin so it is almost invisible. The cost was just over $75, which I thought was reasonable. If the repair doesn't hold and the windshield crack extends to require replacement of the windshield, the cost of this repair will be credited against the cost of replacement. I was happy with Portland Glass of Damariscotta and would happily use them again.

Good people, very helpful and good follow up of quote requests through to order, with confirmation and emails when orders received for pick up. Thanks! The special glass for our kitchen cabinet doors is beautiful!

I called and "scheduled" for a measurement and quote. The person I spoke with was very nice and said he would call back to let me know when they would come by to measure. 3 weeks later after hearing nothing I called. The woman I spoke with was very nice as well but could give me no information on when they would be coming by to measure. Literally I asked will it be a week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks... I mean I get being backed up but there seems to be no scheduling communication at all. Now after 5 weeks I've given up. No way to run a business. My brother had same experience and literally never heard back from them after calling to schedule measuring.

I continue to give this business a try but I am always disappointed. We made an appointment 2 weeks in advance. I arrived for the appointment and they never ordered the part or called me. There were lots of reasons given but there is no reason for the lack of call particularly when I had a 30 minute drive. They need someone to organize the operation. Look elsewhere.

UPDATED Barbara at the front desk is great. The gentleman who took my payment information over the phone was very nice. However that's where the positive experience ends in this case. I dropped off a very simple project in the beginning of November or maybe it was the end of October. Two simple storm panels. After a month went by and I had not received a call I called to check up. They still had not been made. I called again several weeks later, to my surprise they were actually done. Only took two and a half months. I'm not sure how I fell through the cracks for so long, or maybe I'm just spoiled by the local business I used to use. Unfortunately, they closed up shop, so this was the first place I came to... I will probably keep looking to see if I can find someplace else that's not too far away for future glass needs.

We had a glass shower enclosure installed. The price was reasonable and the service and installation was excellent. I would use their services again.

Very impressed with Brandon - he made quick work of the glass replacement we ordered and even assisted with another sliding door.Follow up:Our first experience with Portland Glass was perfect. Their installer Brandon was right there to get the glass replaced in our sliding door and all was good. We were so happy we called again to want them to service the sliding screen doors - that's when everything fell apart. The appointment we made was not honored - no communication about delays or having to reschedule. I had to call and they sifted through papers to find the appointment and rescheduled for another 2 weeks out. That date came and went so we called again and asked if they wanted our business and to call if they did. Nothing happened for another 2 weeks then I get a call in a voicemail that was cryptic at best with a list of excuses of why they were a no-show - none of the excuses justified why they could not lift a phone to call us to give us any updates. I spoke with a receptionist who thankfully suggested another company to call - I figure at this point they don't want my business so it was fair to ask about their competition. I did tell her I would still welcome a call if they wanted the business. 2 more weeks later I still have not gotten a return call. Simply put we are done with Portland Glass as they are seemingly not interested in our business. The season is over for us now so in the Spring I will reach out to the competitor who I understand is based in Wiscasset. If Portland Glass wants the business it will have to be at a very steep discount - I might go back to them with a 70% off. But otherwise it's not worth my time.

They came to my house to measure for a replacement window and several replacement glass panels for our Harvey windows I told them we wanted to move forward months ago and David indicated he would order the one of the replacement panels and he needed to come back to remeasure for the other panel and the window.Despite multiple calls and promises to get back so we could finalize nothing.I don't even know if he ordered the panel he had the measurement for at this pointWhenever I've called nothing but excuses and new promises.This company is off my list of places to do business.

They replaced a windshield on my truck and did a fantastic job! No glass left in the vehicle, very prompt service. The crew took very good care of me. I would strongly recommend them for all of your glass needs!

One of the worst experiences I have had pertaining to incompetence. The individual I spoke with was to lazy to look out and see my car was across the parking. He stated "I'm not in the habit of looking for vehicles. My car was approximately 100 feet from their front door, but he was unable to see it. I would not recommend these half-witts to replace a lightbulb. Thankfully, I have found the corporation that owns the company in Waco Texas and I will address the issues with them.

I went to Portland Glass through my insurance for damage to my windshield and they made it so simple and easy. I was in and out in under 30 minutes. Great customer service and friendly atmosphere!

I'm very upset and disappointed!!! Took my window in 6 weeks ago for measurement. I was told it would be 2 or 3 weeks. I called after 3 weeks and glass was never ordered. Then told it would be 3 more weeks, it would be in on the 20th of July. I called this morning yea... glass is in. I take my window out and head right over. Guess what it was wrong they put the grids in the wrong direction... sorry it will be 3 more weeks.... yup I'm upset.

I don't even want to give one star! Terrible customer service! They've been stringing us along since mid-September when they came to measure for two windows-deposit was paid that same day! Well-the guy measured incorrectly so when he came three weeks later to install the windows didn't fit. He re-measured and said they would expedite an order for new windows-their bad! Three weeks later the guy called to say his manager said to trim the original windows and that he'd be here the next day! Sorry unacceptable-they messed up now we have to accept "trimmed" windows and have waited three weeks to be told that! I was told they were "busy"-we should have been put on a service list back in September! UNACCEPTABLE!!

PGD is a first-rate supplier of commercial and residential glass. They provided us with doors for two showers in our historic B&B inn in Camden. The fabrication of the doors was exact and timely. David Teele of PGD installed the doors, and his work was flawless, professional and friendly. The cost of the doors was reasonable in relation to the quality of the product. All in all, I could not ask for any better service. Portland Glass of Damariscotta has always been responsive to my needs: a framed picture, a cracked windshield, inserts for my kitchen cupboards, and most recently a gorgeous piece of tempered glass for a splashguard wall at the end of the new soaking tub & shower. PGD walks me through options, looks, patterns and textures, so I can get exactly what I want. Friendly, professional, patient and thorough (Dave left a spray can of glass cleaner for me), so no detail is overlooked. I love these guys!

2 weeks later, still waiting for a quote on my little window replacement. Was told it may take 4 weeks After the quote to replace a 1'x2' window. Are you That busy? Get my window in this week for less than the on the spot quote, and I'll change my review.

Walk in service available. Will repair window sashes. They can even replace double paned glass. They also repair screens and storm windows!

So I walk into the Damariscotta store today as I was looking at my order sheet.The man behind the counter was helping someone and told me there was only one person allowed in the store at a time and asked me if I could read the sign on the door. I hadnt seen the sign and I get the whole distancing thing due to COVID but he could have been nicer. I have shopped here in the past but never again.

Didn't show up for the first appointment, I called and they re-scheduled for the next day and now I called and they aren't going to come today either with NO PHONE CALL to let me know!!! Two afternoons of moving my schedule around to be available from 12-5 and not even a courtesy phone call. Ridiculously unorganized.

Took a fleet vehicle in to have a nick in my windshield fixed. I came in at the appointment time set for me and was back on the road in less than 30 minutes. Easy.

Excellent customer service in this day and age of no service at all. Highly recommend this Portland Glass of Damriscotta.
