Had the unfortunate pleasure of having to have a "new engine" in my 2016 Ford Edge (good news was it was under warranty). I have only had my car to Shields a couple of times....but when the check engine light went on I took it there (because of great reviews and word of mouth). They diagnosed the issue, explained it to me, worked well with the warranty company, and (most importantly) communicated well with me throughout with regard to the status etc. I only got my car back yesterday, but all seems to be great with my new part! Much appreciated!

We received fantastic service here! Quick and high quality service and friendly people. They did a great job of informing me of all their findings and asking what I would like them to do instead of fixing things I didn t ask for and charging me for it. Very fair and honest. I would highly recommend Shields Service!

They have repaired my vehicles, doing both simple maintenance to complex repairs and they are reasonably priced.

Shields is fantastic. Have taken multiple cars to them over the years. Just took my daughter's hand me down Pilot there. Clear explanation of the issue, quick turn around. They are (and continue to be!!!) honest, fair, timely, and do great work. Thank you Mason and team!

Poor communication and will not give quotes for simple maintenance work. No way am I going to drop it off for spark plug change and have no idea the cost! If the dealer and every other shop can do it, you can as well.I try and to use smaller family owned places but would not trust this place. We are a family owned company with a fleet of vehicles so they really missed out on huge amount of business over the next 10 years. I know times are good now, but in the bad times read this review and remember customer service ALWAYS counts in good days and in bad.....Service: General repairs & maintenance

Mason and team have worked on several vehicles for me over the years, and I've never felt taken advantage of or lied to. They explain everything very well, they're always nice to talk to and offer suggestions but don't push anything. On more than one occasion they've told me something that they say could be done, but doesn't really need it or can wait if I want to. Prices are reasonable, and they work fast and keep you informed the entire time they have your car. I highly recommend Shields!Services: General repairs & maintenance, Vehicle safety inspection

Fast, friendly and tons of experience. Took my car to 2 other places paid a fee for diagnosis but couldn't tell me the issue without dummy lights on. They were able to diagnose and fix in the same day. It's worth the few bucks more for service when you know you can trust the mechanic. Will use again.Services: Electrical repair, Auto engine diagnosticServices: Electrical repair, Auto engine diagnostic

Beware. Shields was recommended by family. They've taken cars there for years with no problems. I, however, had a completely different experience. They were fine, but after very few visits when I picked up my car there was obvious problem. Check gas mileage after every fill-up. When I left car there it was getting 20mpg. When I checked it on 2nd fill-up after repairs it had dropped to 15mpg. Couple more times had same results. They said my brakes were dragging, so I paid to have them repaired. Still 15mpg. This continued couple more times. I asked if they had double checked all work done on visit when this happened. They of course said it wasn't their fault but never actually said they'd checked their work, so I'm assuming they didn't. Each time I paid to "fix" 5mpg loss they caused... the "fix" didn't work. Recently there's been problem with brakes they supposedly fixed very few months before. Not going back. WARNING!! They treated me completely differently than men & younger women in my family. The difference is I'm elderly & disabled. I've learned from experience that many people act like they think we are stupid &/or senile. I'm not. May I suggest using caution if you fit into these or similar categories? Seems they think we're easy to fleece. Elderly & disabled treatment rating: F

i used shields because i can walk home from the shop, and i do like to support my local businesses. while i felt they were a bit expensive I had them do the minor maintenance on several of my cars. but they also seemed to tell me that i didn't understand mechanic work, often doing the work with the caveat that if they broke something it wasn't their fault. the last time i used them was in 2014. when my car's ac quit working. i took it to shields and told them i thought the ac clutch was not working right. they kept the car about 10 hours, told me they could not find anything wrong with the ac except that they had to refill the freon. the ac worked a bit better but was still not cold and i left on a trip to NC. While on the trip the ac was not cooling. I stopped at a dealership in NC, they had the car for about 2 hours and charged me $110 to replace the ac clutch.

I've brought every car I've owned to Shields, including getting a new motor installed there. Then I brought my car in for air conditioning work. Theres a hose that needs replaced. The hose is less than 100. Heck the entire air conditioning system is under a couple hundred yet they quoted me over 900 dollars. Plus they charged me 140 to connect it to a machine for diagnostic.I'm shocked. This isn't the service I use to trust and was loyal to for 20 years.I've gotten my air fixed now and it cost me under 500.Proceed with caution.

The best family operated service. I have been going there for years. It's the only place I go. Their work is exceptional. The pricing is not over the top, and they are very personable . Their communication with you is excellent. I recommend Shields!!

Find somewhere better. Do not go here. Insane overcharge for simple sensor replacement not to mention we discovered they actually forgot to do an oil change we paid for from a previous visit. Imagine I hadn't gone back for a separate issue! Negligence could have caused engine damage. I will not be returning.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Battery, Oil changeServices: Auto engine diagnostic, Battery, Oil change

I've been taking my vehicle to Shields Service for years now. After being taken advantage of by the dealer I purchased my vehicle from, I had lost trust in mechanics, but Shields has definitely gained my trust! Although their prices can seem high, I know they're using the best parts and I won't have to worry about additional issues after they fix something. They're thorough and explain everything very well.

Family has used Shields for years. The service is great and they don't try to perform services on your car that aren't necessary. If you have a vehicle they aren't comfortable working on they will let you know. Prices are fair and they update you as necessary. Highly recommend.

They were extremely helpful in helping me with my out of town daughter's car. Hooked me up with a reputable tow service, diagnosed problem quickly, and made recommendation based on active service bulletin that I take car to dealer for repairs.

I have been a customer of Shields Service for 10+ years. He and Mason have been very dependable. When they discuss my cars maintenance, I am confident I am getting quality service and honest reports on the issues at hand. I have never felt they were trying to pad the repair bill. There has been a couple of times I've stropped by with a minor problem and John stops what he is doing to fix the problem right away. Several of my friends and family have been using Shields Service for several years.

Shields is the one service center I trust and feel completely comfortable servicing my car. I know nothing about cars but have a few friends who are very knowledgeable. They commented Shields and I have not be disappointed. After being told by a dealership that I needed thousands of dollars of work, they fixed my car at a fraction of the price.

Shields is excellent! I was on my way to Nashville from Ohio when my car stopped working at a rest area off the highway near Louisville. A family friend recommended I tow my car to Shields and I'm so glad I did! The crew at Shields was extremely helpful. I rented a car to get to Nashville and then back to Ohio but Shields was super communicative about what was going on with my car. When it was determined the end of my old car, they even brought it to the junk yard and mailed my license plate back to me! You never want your car to die--much less in the middle of a state you don't know--but Shields was truly the best people to help me through a tough situation and I am so grateful for their wonderful service.

The worker who helped me here was extremely kind. Ill give them that much. However as my experience with them shows, the best crooks kill mask their shadiness with kindness. First off they refuse to install any part bought by the customer, even if it is the correct part. Second their markup and labor are outrageous. After charging 300 dollars to fix a thermostat issue, they offered to replace my front brake pads and rotors for - 415! I drive a Pontiac g6 and happen to know that all 4 brakes plus rotors shouldn't cost half that, much less just the front. A friend of mine who has an expensive sports car only paid 500 for all 4 in his. Bottom line is if you like kindness so much you are willing to pay 3 times what something should cost, these are the people for you. If not wealthy however, I recommend going elsewhere.

Nov. 20th 2017 I Was looking for a mechanic for my daughter's car, a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. With all the positive reviews I decided to give them a shot. My daughter works full time & is a full time student so getting her car back on the road quickly was very important. They got her car in quickly. They ran diagnostic & did some trouble shooting & found the problem. Had her car up & running the next day. I was impressed with how Honest, professional & talented they are. Most shops would have had us wait longer, not had the expertise to accurately diagnose the issue & just thrown marked up parts on the car till the problem went away. I wouldn't have known & would have paid the price with out the intention of ever returning. Instead I got an explanation of what the issues were, what they did to correct it without needing to buy new parts & very fair repair bill. When things goes wrong with her car again I will definitely bring it back to Shields Service.2ND VISIT 1/3/2018Honest, professional & talented. Thats how I describe Shield Service. 1st Week of the New Year didn't start off well with bitter cold & my reliable Camry deciding to die & not restart for me. After the positive experience I had with the repair of my daughter's car Nov. 2017 I didn't hesitate with having it towed there from Shelbyville Ky (26+ miles away) Due to the friged cold it took AAA 10 Hrs to pick up my car & put a back log on Shields as well. I had realistic expectations & wasn't bothered it took 3 days to get my car fixed. That's faster turn around then I experienced at other larger shops . As my previous experience again I received great service in a timely manner at very reasonable price. Shields Service has earned my trust & respect. If you are looking for professional honest mechanic this is the place.

Oh my goodness, let me just tell you. I choose this place strictly based on customer reviews alone. This place! Let's talk about customer service! Mason was an absolute sweetheart. I called asked if they were able to look at my car same day, he said sure thing bring it in. When I took the car in, I was greeted once I walked in the door. Mason took my information and my keys and I left. Mason called to let me know they found the leak but was not able to see where it was coming from and wanted to okay that they take parts off to get to it. Once they found the problem, Mason called me back let me know the issue and price. Told me they should have it done same day but would call if they couldn't. When the called back I spoke to a gentleman named John. John was just as nice as Mason and told me it was ready to be picked up. When I picked my car up once again I was greeted when I walked in and spoke to the gentleman behind the counter for a moment. He was just as sweet as the rest. The price I paid to get my car fixed was very fair and I don't feel as if I was nickel and dimed at all. The staff was kind and friendly. I am telling you to go here to get your car fixed. These are my new mechanics!

As usual with John and Mason my wife's car was repaired in a professional and timely manner at a fair price: I have been a repeat customer for years and never had any concerns or even a comeback. Always on time with repairs and great communication explaining in detail what was done to the car and what may be needed in the future to keep problems to a minimum.

Shields Service earned my business because they convinced me that they wanted to do right by me. They saved me a lot of money by fixing the source of the problem in my Honda instead of replacing the whole system. If it s worth anything to whoever reads this, Shields Service seems like the type of place that will do the job right, for a fair price and will make things right in a circumstance that a mistake gets made. Hard to find a place that won t charge me extra for my ignorance on fixing a car. Thank you for taking good care of my Honda Accord.

A family friend referred me to Shields Service for honest, quality, and affordable service and I have not been disappointed. The staff is friendly and the work was prompt. They even informed me of potential future problems they witnessed while working on my car and very openly told me that repair was not needed at the time, but to just keep an eye on it. I highly recommend this shop for almost any automotive repair and/or maintenance.

I took my car to a dealership for repair, after waiting a week for an appointment. I knew the problem but the staff there refused to listen.I left that appointment and took my car to Shields and they looked at it same day, gave me a reasonable price for the repair and listened to me when I told them what had happened. They have my bussiness from now on.

My family and I have gone to them for over 15 years. This last experience with John, the owner, has completely left us to find another mechanic. I took my Honda in to get an oil change, tire rotation, brake fluid flush, and serpentine belt changed. John told me: "Including the cost of the belts, it'll run about $165." I agreed to the price and when I came to pick it up later that day, the price was $330! I had to come back the following day to speak with John about the egregious difference in price. He told me the quote he gave me did not include the cost of the belts; however, the estimate in the computer remained $165. Their mistake was not calling and confirming this price in the first place. John's offer to fix this situation was to 1.) take the belts back. Or 2.) A free oil change. This was the most disrespectful offer imaginable. I told him I would be willing to pay the estimate cost, but he said "I can't just give you the belts." They have lost our family's business for good and this seems to be a pattern developing with this company. I encourage everyone to steer clear of this establishment and seek another place to repair your car.

I was traveling to family from Memphis to Michigan and had some mechanical issues. I called around and spoke with John. I felt real comfortable and brought my truck in. After finding out what it was, I was a little worried about cost. Mason then gave me some options that worked for me and my family and we got the work completed. Also let me mention how understanding to my situation they were! In and out!!! If I lived here in the area, my vehicle wouldn't go to anyone else.. I might even drive from Memphis... not really, but I'm sure it would cross my mind..THANKS GUYS!!!
