Was in last night to see what kind of paint the person working in the paint dept. would recommend for my wood shelving project. He acted like he didn't want to talk/help me and said, "Any paint will work, even paint made for painting walls". I don't know a lot about paint, but I know for a fact not to buy paint for walls for wood. Please hire knowledgeable people.. I took my business elsewhere.

The people running the Spencer Iowa location have no idea what they're doing. God forbid you ask the sullen sad guy IN THE PAINT DEPT to make paint for you like it's not his job. None of the employees seem to know where anything is at. I went to pickup two pavers and the lady in construction materials threw the sheet away and told me to go find it myself after asking her if I could just put the two in the cart instead of having to drive around. We have had several pickup order fiascos where they didn't have anything ready despite being emailed that they were, we had to find items ourselves and while doing so witnessed another employee was ramming the forklift into sheets of drywall and breaking the edges without any regard. Don't even get me started on the gate "security" people....

I found what I was looking for on their website, so I just showed my phone to the cashier at the building supply counter. He placed my order, I paid at the checkout counter, and I was on my way to supply the area in the back in just a few minutes. Pickup there was straightforward, and I was back on the road home. Prices were reasonable and the workers were all very friendly.

Was a pretty good place to work, pay was good and most of my managers in Building Materials were very pleasant to work with. Until I got fired for buying a monster energy on the clock. My recommendation would be to work here if you hate your life, because it's what all about 90% of the workers do there.

Got exactly what I needed from very helpful young man I was so amazed I asked he said yes walked directly to the item and I checked out it took less than 10 minutes. It is so nice in these rare moments to remember it can happen.....

My house burned down in January. And for the second time, I needed a full scale renovation... Menards is the only place I used the last time- and I was sooo pleased with the outcome.They coordinated all my online purchases and in store purchases, with relative ease. So naturally I went back to them! I was in the store for approximately 6 hours. The sales people and I, picked out finishes for every surface, and for every room. Their staff could not be better!!! They will deliver, and they will install!I had a problem with one of the appliances that was shipped to my home, but I called the store and they came right over to my house! They made it right for me... That I will never forget, and they will always have my business!

If I could rate this store a ZERO, I would!! Spent over $1200 on a shed to be delivered to our home last week Tuesday. Paid help to set it up was waiting. Opened the boxes, and parts were all bent and dented. Called the store and they would deliver another the next day. Had paid help ready to go. Delivery was 4 hours late, driver was rude both times. Spent what was left of Wednesday night and again Thursday evening putting it together. Until we realized they shorted us a $.50 piece of plastic for the door tracking. Called the store, they promised they had the part we needed. Drove 1 hour each way to pick up this tiny plastic piece. We got there and NOBODY knew anything about it. Had to go out in the shipping yard and find it ourselves. Went home, finished up until we saw that we were short a tiny $1.00 piece of metal. Call the store, got put on hold by customer service, who eventually hung up on my wife. Finally got thru and they said they had the piece and would have it up front at customer service for her. She drove 1 hour each way AGAIN and customer service knew nothing about it. By now, my wife is LIVID and yelling pretty loudly. She had to walk all the way back to the far corner of the store to get this piece. Couldn't even have someone bring it up to her!!! After much yelling (and I'm sure cussing), they gave us the piece and $80 to cover gas. What should have been done in 6 hours took us 4 days plus labor of our hired help, due to the negligence and ineptness of this store! We will NEVER shop here again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

We went to get lumber from the yard the guy that was in the shack was on his phone and took 3 minutes (yes I timed it) to notice us and scan us in! His personality is not very customer service friendly. We have been there several times with this guy and he is always like that. Very disappointed!

I walked in carrying my 5 week old baby in his carseat and was intercepted by a rude staffer who told me I had to walk all the way around to the north entrance. I asked her why I couldn t come in the south side when the doors were unlocked and there were signs facing outward and she continued to berate me in front of the whole store. While in the checkout line with the three small items I had come to buy from the south side of the store, I watched three more people who were carrying nothing walk in the south entrance doors and were not stopped by anyone. Emailed customer service and got no response. Not sure why the staff chose to single out a new mom carrying a crying baby, but won t be going back anytime soon.

Absolutely worst experience I've ever had!! To top it off the cart wrangler ran carts into our trailer as we were driving out of the parking lot and proceeded to run away! They were absolutly no help in the matter, proceeding to tell me they dont cover cart damage. Thank you menards for another poor experience!

If this wasn't the only place around, id never go there again. Wait 10 minutes to listen to the menu, no-one answers the phone. Can never find help while in the store yet there are always a few employees standing behind the counter chatting about something. Only place around requiring you to wear a mask yet most people i saw didn't have there nose covered. I just moved here and I really miss lowes and homedepot.

Other than being out of a couple standard things I went in for today, I have to say the Spencer Menards is pretty good compared to some others I've been to. While others have only 1 or 2 checkers with a bunch of people waiting to check out, Spencer is pretty good about opening more lines when needed. It also ranks above some other locations in my opinion because its employees that aren't very knowledgeable at least do try and are friendly.

Employee's are rude! I was wearing a mask and it wasn't good enough for them so they wouldn't check me out until I paid for one of their masks. I could pay for that but none of my stuff?!?!?! Now that makes a lot of sense! I will never be back! The Home Depot is way better anyways!!

Kathy & Matt were patient and kind while I wanted to look at a sofa that was stored on a high shelf during the off season. They helped get someone with a lift to bring it down so I could see it first hand. thanks for the great service today!!

I was ignored by counter staff for over a minute as 3 of them chatted. Was told 4x4 lumber only available in 8 ft lengths. Wanted 6 ft. 6ft was stacked in the yard next to 8 ft. No one available to help load order. Asked staff for help finding decking / joist brackets. No clue... didn't find help offer help.This store sucks worse than the worst Home Depot...

For such a big store, you often have to search for help. When you do find it they're very friendly. Bought a rose bush on sale for $10. Went home and planted it immediately per instructions. Died within a couple weeks.

Husband & I started a small kitchen remodel project, went together picked out sink & countertop. I went back to pick out faucet & strainers - i asked the gals in plumbing for their opinion on color after starting we bought the grey sink on the other side. They said it's personal choice - I made a decision, but after they left just didn't feel comfortable with it. Trevor Elder came by & asked if I needed help. I explained my situation & what the girls had said. He asked which sink I bought, so we went over to the sinks. In front of the sink we purchased were 2 different colored strainer sets - by putting them against the sink Trevor was able to help me decide on a color, we went back to the faucets & he helped me make a better decision! So thankful Trevor Elder was wishing that day!

Put a online order in night before for pickup as they had item in-stock. Called next day before I was to head out as I live 3hrs away once I called lady told. Me we were going to call you and let you know the item is display model and it will take us day or two to disassemble and package. I called 10am they were open since 8am. 2 hrs and they couldn't call to inform me also display item sold at full retail? While online states new canceled $1300.00 went elsewhere.

We were in the midst of spring garden planting and found that 3 fruit trees that we purchased on May 2nd of 2020 didn't make it through the winter. We had a couple that did and wanted to replace the dead ones. We had receipt and original tags from trees however when we went to exchange for new ones...the customer service lady was anything but plrasant. She abruptly told my husband that he was 2 WEEKS post the deadline to return them. He shared his disappointment as we just found out today that they were dead....it has been a bit of a chilly spring...and they would not make any exception to the rule. Very disappointed with the lack of customer service. In parting the lady told my husband "sorry you didn't get your way sir" Really? It's not about getting his way it's about people and customer service. Very disappointing!

Great place to get almost anything! They've got a better selection and variety in that selection than the local competitors. Better pricing on much of it as well. My main two complaints are how they have the stores laid out, resulting in confusion and taking longer to find things, as well as their lack of higher quality, "farm/construction grade" tools, like DeWalt vs just Black & Decker.

Watch the lumber they try to load you up with. My lumber was looked like the hungry beavers ate it up. I think they seen I was an older female and tried to give me the waste wood. The stack of 12" x 4' had 8" pieces in it, hidden in the middle of stack. Watch them. Come on at the price of lumber, don't cheat people.

Customer service is highly lacking at this menards. I have had multiple encounters where the employees are just plain rude. Lacking basic kindness. Sad, because most Menards do not have this issue. I will take my money elsewhere.

If I could rate 0 I definitely would. My husband and I traveled over an hour to buy carpet because of a sale we were told about but they had it all miss advertised. We called and talked to a manager named Kelly. She was supposed to return our call but never did. My husband then called back and all she had to say was okay. I will never step foot in another Menards.

Awful to non-existent customer service. Ordered, then cancelled wood burning stove, and was charged a 25%"re-stocking fee" even though it wasn't "instock" to begin with, nor did it ever leave a warehouse. Not the only one this has happened to, it's a scam they pull often.

Very friendly staff! This Menards almost always has what it need. I had a paint mix up from another store and the staff at the paint counter were so kind and patient with me as we tried to fix the color even though it was not their fault at all!
