Went in for an engine fix or inspection my bike wouldn t turn over, they charged me $250 dollars to tear the bike down, say i had a bent valve/ etc that sounded expensive. My option was to have them fix it for upwards of $2000 or have them assemble it back and i haul it home. So they charged me another $250 to put it back together. I asked for an itemized receipt as well as a statement in email for a court case regarding this bike. I had to follow up in store because he did not answer the phone and i asked where it is and he said i haven t written it (2 weeks after) and I hadn t heard from since (april 2022) I sold my bike for cheap and the guy who bought it fixed the issue in one day and it was an electrical wire loose. I lost so much money because of this man and his lies. never again.

The owner Nick seems to be a little arrogant. Kind of a prick made me feel very not welcome. I tried to purchase from him twice the first time I was told that he didn t like to answer the phone unless he had to? Really? The second time, I got some exhaust gaskets from him but he didn t have the second ring pieces that you need with them (that comes with them anywhere else) he had one of the two needed. Then he tried to sell the one to me for an additional price!I needed two of them not one so I passed. I then called back to see if he had restocked a week later and was told he doesn t stock items that he won t sell, all while laughing at my request telling me I should have ordered last time I was here I found the $5 exhaust gasket flange ring at a different shop. Won t be going back.I would NOT RECOMMEND this place. Can talk about the shop in its entirety since I only spoke to Nick (the owner) both times. But the experience both times was less than par. This dude shouldn t own any kind of business. Kinda weird that he does somehow with customer service like his.

Nick is awesome.. anything you need done I'm sure he can figure out a solution for you. He got me in and out within 10 minutes. I will make this my first stop for all of my motorcycle needs, you should too! Thanks again for the great service!

They didn t call me with cost estimate or to get an approval to do any work, just did the work. Bike sat in shop for 3 days after completing work waiting for them to do the paperwork . I asked them to tell me how much it was going to cost ( after the work was already done ) they gave me a range of 800-1000. Went in to pick it up and it was 1100 and then charged a $40 fee to run my card, again, without even bringing it up. I ve heard a lot of good things about this place, but this definitely wasn t a good experience. On a positive note, the bike seems to run much better.

First time going here. Took my son's new dirt bike here for some work. Was charged a fair price and he got the work done on time as promised. The service is friendly and professional. Good location. I will definitely be back with my other machines. I would highly recommend this place for any of your cycle needs. You will not be disappointed.

Nick is great to work with! He is very well trained and does his best with every job he does. He has fixed and assisted in building my husband's bike and we loved working with him. We are so glad he has taken over this company and turned it into something great!

Nick and his son are outstanding men who perform top of the line work! They provide excellent customer service every time I visit the shop. Custom Cycle is the first place that comes to mind when I need or want something done for my bike (2005 sv650). If you're looking for a new shop or just got your first bike then go to Des Moines Custom Cycle!

Nick did a great job on my 1987 Honda Rebel. Contacted him by email to see if he worked on older bikes, and he responded right away. The work was done quickly and was ready when promised. And EXTREMELY reasonable! I highly recommend Nick and Custom Cycle, and I'd definitely use him again.

MY experience had to pay bike towed there then was Told he needs 1000 dollars down for parts estimate was around 800 to fix said had wornout parts Bike had only , fifteen hundred miles on it so it's brand new... which he didn't have knowledge of so... We had disagreement.so paid tow truck two times , 200 dollars for And Took another. Machanic and.. was only two quarts low on oil in primary.. ended up costing me..,75 bucks with New gaskets parts included so. He estimated at 700 to 800 fix.. with parts. so if you read this he might Know how to work on them but it's gonna cost you. As I explained My... first And last experience.. with owner of shop My advice don't put his so called down payment for parts such you will never get back,.I wouldn't recommend... save. Me 700 hundred plus, but 200 for tow truck

I had Nick put on new tires and fix an exhaust leak. he was great to work with and was honest when I asked about new brakes. this kept money in my pocket! I would recommend his shop any day of the week.

Nick is the best in the DSM area, he has fair prices and only uses quality parts. This shop is under new ownership. Nick. The new owner has worked on our bikes long before he bought this business. Good work ethics. Sucks to buy a business that has such a checkered past. The new owner is a trustworthy guy. Simply couldn t find a more skilled bike mechanic and builder.

I would like to recommend Custom Cycle to anyone regardless of the make, model or age of the bike. I was incredibly impressed with the outstanding service that I received. I have an old 1978 Honda and it is difficult to find parts for it. I won t just trust anybody to repair it. We ve brought in other bikes to be repaired by Custom Cycle and we always receive the same high-level quality service. And that Honda that I was having constant problems with is now running perfectly! Honest owner - Quality work. Thanks custom Cycle!

Since new ownership..Great shop!!! Nick is great to work with. Very honest and Reasonable. Tells you up front what you're looking at. Doesn't try to sell you stuff you don't need. Very detail oriented. Stands behind his work. I'll never go anywhere else. Beware!! Negative reviews are from the previous owner's work.

Had my sporty carb redone along with a short in handlebars very timely matter resolving my short in the handlebars and getting my carb redone.. definitely dig this spot. My bikes will be coming back here

Absolutely amazing experience! Everyone is so friendly and so willing to work with anyone! Every winter they provides discounts to prefered customers and they offer a military discount. Not to mention they do amazing work! They installed a 240 wide tire kit on my bike and it is perfect!

"Good work, for a good price."That was my previous remark about this place. But, my opinion of this place has fallen quite a bit my bike had to have a fuel filter and fuel pump replacement I have been experiencing fuel leaks at the pet cot coming out of my fuel tank and has not been fixed properly yet. I have returned the bike to this company twice and the problem still persists. I will have to go to a more expensive place aka the Harley dealership to get it properly fixed I guess. This German offers horn customer service in reference to not properly fixing a problem that he caused on my Harley. I do not recommend using this company for anything other than fluid changes. That seems to be about the only thing he is good at.

Extremely poor customer service. We brought in a tire and inner tube for our kids dirt bike and asked if he would be able to mount it for us. He said yes, but it will be a little while so I'll call you when its finished. 30 mins before closing we called to see if it was finished or if it would be ready tomorrow. He said it's ready, I couldnt use your inner tube so I used mine and here are the charges for it. When we get there I asked if it would have been possible for us to have gotten a call regarding the situation before he just made changes without our initial consent? He got extremely rude as if we were in the wrong for asking for a courtesy call. He replied with well how about I just undo it then? I said no, we want it but it would have just been good customer service for a courtesy call. He started going off on us and making unnecessary and unprofessional side comments all because we asked for that courtesy call. We asked him to see an example of the inner tube he used in our tire to see what the difference was in ours versus his and he said that was the last one. He then tried to grab our tire back so he can remove the inner tube. He grabbed our invoice, balled it up and snatched our inner tube he "couldn't use" and threw it in the trash. He is a shiesty business owner with a piss poor attitude. I will never recommend him to anyone and highly recommend you go elsewhere for service.

Nick hands down the best in town, I don t want to hear anybody complain ever! If there s something up don t be afraid to say something nick will always listen and tell you what the truth you need to hear ! Only shop in town that was able to get my bike in for the next week. He was willing to make the time to do the job where others wouldn t. Price is more than I expected but for how convenient and dedicated he is, it s worth it.

My bike had been butchered, I litterally took it to Nick in boxes buckets and plastic bags. There was so many parts missing or not even for my bike. He was able to put it back together and make it run the way it was intended to. He definitely knows his s***!

Nick did a fantastic job replacing my stator,rotor and voltage regulator on my 1990 Harley flhtcu.I took it into his shop on a Tuesday and he said he thought he would have it done on Friday,called me on Thursday and said it was done.Super person to deal with great shop and fair prices.I will be highly recommendind Custom Cycle to a lot of riders.Thank's Nick!!!
