Unexpectedly had a transmission failure, I wasn t sure where to call as I was not familiar with any repair shop. I talked to Tim. He told me he wasn t sure about time. However I was not in a hurry and had read many good reviews. So I had it towed to him late afternoon. I honestly expected needing a new transmission on my 2008 Buick Envoy. Unexpectedly I received a phone call from Tim. He said they looked at it and it might be a reasonable replacement of the drive shaft but he didn t promise me and explained other possibilities. I had them fix it and he called the very next day and said my car was ready. He explained what he did and other issues that could possibly happen in the future. He was definitely knowledgeable and very honest with me. I would highly recommend his shop. Excellent service!!

Stay clear of this transmission shop. I spent over 8k on a new transmission then 20k miles later it went out and they wouldn't do anything for me. Do yourself a favor and go to Sta-Rite transmission in Des Moines.

From the Owner to D NewmanWhen we first spoke about your vehicle you mentioned that the transmission repair made to your vehicle was (a couple years ago) Upon getting your personal information, and as you were speaking, I was looking up the repair invoice. You told me that your vehicle had a "no reverse condition." Then, after that, you mentioned we had issues with the repair after it was completed. When you called us and said your transmission wouldn't shift (within a week of repair) we asked you to pull to the side of the road safely, and shut off the engine and press the accelerator pedal 3 times quickly to the floor, and then start it up and drive it. You confirmed that the transmission was shifting properly. We never heard back from you until a couple of days ago. But the issue you were having had nothing to do with a "No Reverse Condition" and the throttle valve sticking is a very common condition in the THM-700R4/ 4L60 automatic Transmission which your 91 Chevy Surburban is equipped with. After looking up your invoice during our conversation, I found that the vehicle repair was done on 08-07-2014. OVER 6 YEARS AGO! You never mentioned that in your review! But from the beginning you were telling me that it was a couple of years ago. Then you proceeded to tell me your vehicle had only had 10,000 miles on it since the repair was made. Am I expected to believe that comment as well as it was only done a couple of years ago comment? I'm sorry you are having issues with reverse on your vehicle, but I don't cover warranties for 6 years. Our warranty clearly states 1 year or 12,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Most of, if not all, new car manufacturers don't cover transmissions for 6 years. If you write a review, please include all the facts and not just partial facts. But that never seems to happen in today's world. It's called a distortion of the truth.

Fair pricing, knowledgeable staff, quick availability. Had my transmission removed, rebuilt, and reinstalled. They also did a couple of other repairs that could only be done with the transmission removed after asking me first. I appreciate their expertise and professionalism.

My son is a first year student at DMU. We are not familiar with DesMoines so when his truck broke down, I was looking for a local honest shop for the repair. The owner of Chuck and Larry's , Tim, was a tremendous help and quickly analyzed my problem, fixed it and charged a fair price. That kind of service and help for someone from out of state should tell all you need to know about using them for any automotive repair. I highly recommend Tim and his crew. They are good people and top notch mechanics.

Fair and upfront with pricing, fixed quickly due to having parts on hand. They also found problems that most garages wouldn't even though I knew about them. They really helped me when I was in a huge bind. I now believe what I was told about this being one of the few honest garages left!

I needed a transmission rebuild on my Chevy Silverado 2500HD work truck. They quoted me a flat fee for the job, but when it came to programming the new module, things went haywire (not because of anything they did, I should add). These guys went so far above and beyond what they were paid to do, and got me back on the road sooner than I could have possibly hoped, given all that went wrong. Not only that, but they didn't charge me for the many, many hours multiple technicians and experts put in, and they were responsive and communicative throughout, keeping me in the loop with developments as they happened. Consummate professionals, fairer than fair, and they truly do put the customer first. 5 stars really isn't enough.

Tried to charge me for services not needed. Didn't change my rear. Still leaking. Warranty was based on things unrelated to trasmission repair. Transmission only lasted 40,000 miles. Should have last 100,000. Now I need another tranmission rebuild. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!Service: TransmissionService: Transmission

Thought my transmission went out on my Honda Accord so had it towed to Chuck and Larry's. Turns out my front right axle had broke in half! They got the car at 1 and had it done by 4 the same day for much less than I was expecting. Excellent!

Knowledge, Reliability, Honesty. Finding an auto repair facility that has these qualities is like buying a winning lottery ticket. Chuck and Larry's is the place that provides that experience without the risk of throwing your money away. And you can rely on Tim to give you an honest appraisal.

Had a transmission replaced her a few years ago. Price was lower then any shop around and turn around time was excellent. Very honest guys who do good work!

transmission went out in my escalade took it in and they had a transmission for it and up in air the next day. fast turnaround and knowledgeable staff as well. beat the price of other shops by close to a 1000 dollars ... hopefully I never have one go out again but if I do chuck and larrys will be where I take it

Talked to Tim about rebuilding an ol school Th350 Transmission for me. He knows his stuff . I ve had it in my hot rod for a few years now and still 2nd and 3rd gear scratches like know other. The crew knows what they are doing and the kicker was when I left a local top performance shop was picking up a transmission. Thanks Tim and crew

2003 Jaguar 5 speed manual. Professional people that know transmissions. They even found other problems and still stayed at the quoted price. 5 Stars to them, and I ever need transmission repair, they have my business

paid for full transmission rebuild not only did they replace just failed parts but they did not repair it correctly now that i have paid another 2800 for a transmission rebuild done the right way i want to warn everyone to stay away from these guys i hate to say that about local business but these guys did not do good workService: Transmission repairService: Transmission repair
