I've been taking my car to these guys for 4 years now and prefer their shop to all others visited in the past. They're fair and help me understand the issues while providing quality repairs. Also am glad to support a local business instead of a big corporate outfit where there's less accountability and questionable competence.

We have been taking our vehicles here for many years and have always had friendly and honest service. Everything they do is 100% upfront, they explain what is wrong and tell you exactly what needs done to fix the problem and do not try to upsell you on things that you do not need. You know that when you drop your vehicle off it is in good hands, the work has been done right and you can surely expect a call after any major service to make sure that everything is still operating normally. We 100% recommend them to anyone who may ever be in need of vehicle services!!

Friendly and genuinely helpful. Pricing felt very reasonable. This will very clearly be my go to mechanic for years to come! Everyone I talked to while I was there had nothing but kind things to say about them as well.

This trust-worthy car shop is definitely worth the drive across town! Their standards of integrity and communication are as clean and orderly as their waiting rooms, shop space, and bathrooms. Ace is a shiny diamond in a rough looking area, so the contrast is dramatic. Jason and his crew will take good care of your car with honesty. Loaner cars are available too! PS Their work on my Toyota has it in tip top shape!2020 ADDENDUM: Reigning over the office/phone/waiting area is the effervescent Pam, whose warmth and good humor will take the sting out of any repair bill.2021 ADDENDUM: When the shop owner calls with an option to SAVE money on a repair you know they have the right attitude. Very professional staff. Couldn't be happier with my experience. They were very prompt at getting my vehicle fixed and back the same day. This is my 1st time here and it definitely won't be my last. Looks like they will be my new mechanic.

Larry is super knowledgeable about Smart cars. He was very thorough with explaining what was wrong with my little car. He taught me things that I didn't know about my car. If you own a Smart car, he's definitely your go to guy and shop. Stop wasting your time and money on non experienced shops. 1st: Check-in -10/10 Clean lobby, automobile bays AND grounds. Appeared well-kept/maintained + couteous staff. Professionally welcomed at every interaction, prompt+reasonable replies to questions. My takeaway, Awesome staff. No attitudes, welcoming, prompt, attention to clearly understand extent of needed repairs. Of course, nothing is as simple as hoped, better to cope with each problem of the system during primary repair. Fewer returns to the shop to correct other component issues later. Did not feel I was "upsold. Tech explained additional minor needs to correct all the exhaust system problems while completing primary repair.2nd: 10/10 Grounds+facilities well maintained, inside and out.3rd: 10/10 Ability to get me on their schedule quickly.Only issue. --- very high shop rates.Service: Exhaust

So we asked Ace Body & Motor to fix our 2008 Ford Edge which had a sloshing behind the dash to repair our car. They asked us 3 different times to describe this issue. I simply recommended that they do a test drive to assess the issue first hand and the person I spoke to face-to-face seemed unwilling to accept my suggestion to test drive our car. We left our car there for them to find out what the problem was and they called us to say that it was a clogged A/C drain which they repaired and that then they said were not able to complete anymore required repairs on our 2008 Ford Edge since it was a unibody frame and had rust in the lift points of the unibody frame. Please keep in mind that we had the same exact car, our 2008 Ford Edge worked on by Ace Body & Motor just two months prior to this repair. At that time they worked on and repaired the brakes which costs us $1,600.00+. After we picked up our 2008 Ford Edge my daughter, the primary driver, drove the newly repaired 2008 Ford Edge she immediately determined that the automatic transmission was not shifting properly or as it did prior to taking the car in to Ace Body & Motor. We promptly returned the car to Ace Body & Motor to discuss the automatic transmission shifting issue and they initially did not seem to accept our complaint, but they finally agreed to drive the car so they could determine first hand if there was actually a problem in the shifting of the automatic transmission of the 2008 Ford Edge that they had just had in their shop for repairing the brakes. They did find a problem with the shifting of the automatic transmission on the 2008 Ford Edge and they told my wife and I that the automatic transmission shifting problem was most likely due to a now faulty Mass Air Flow sensor and that they could not fix it immediately. Instead they advised that we go buy the Mass Air Flow sensor from a local auto parts store and remove the old sensor and install the new one ourselves. They said to call them back if that did not fix the problem with the 2008 Ford Edge automatic transmission shifting. They did clear the error codes on the 2008 Ford Edge and then we drove it home. We purchaed the Mass Air Flow sensor from a local auto parts store and we completed the repair in our driveway at home and it did fix the problem with the automatic transmission shifting. We have 6 six cars and 6 different people in our family who all are adults that drive. We have had several different local auto repair shops work on our vehicles with no complaints. Unfortunately, our long-time auto mechanic recently died unexpectedly and that caused us to try out Ace Body & Motor. Unfortunately after these two repair experiences we cannot in good conscience recommend Ace Body & Motor to anyone that needs auto repair. We had two bad experiences with Ace Body & Motor and we were so dissatisfied and disappointed that we felt compelled to write this one-star review. Hopefully, they will learn from this and correct the way they do business and primarily correct their very poor customer service. These are the facts and I sincerely hope this review will be a help to others and more importantly result in positive changes at Ace Body & Motor located on the East side of Des Moines. I called to get an estimate for a part I needed to have replaced. The gentleman on the phone was a bit rude, asking why I didn't get it done with the original mechanic. I gave him my information and he stated he'd call me back with the quote. They never called me back.

I thought I had a heater core leaking. Larry inspected it and found it wasn't leaking after he had already ordered the part on my non-professional diagnosis. He didn't charge me for the part even though he ordered it due to my assumption. They are very good about giving you an estimate and calling to confirm issues/problems.

Love working with James on some issues with my 2004 Tundra. Went above and beyond, offered parts back, explained what was performed and answered all my questions. Also a huge plus they have a Toyota/Lexus tech on staff. Although a drive for me to go here, I ll definitely go back in the future.

I visited Ace today and had an amazing experience working with them. I cannot recommend them enough! James customer service was far above and beyond what I would have expected and he was incredibly helpful in explaining my situation. They even solved and fixed a small issue that I had mentioned offhand at no additional charge. Best shop around! They are super friendly, the mechanics will even introduce themselves to you if they see you around and haven t met you yet. Most of all they are honest and won t scam you. I most definitely recommend Ace Body & Motor!Edit: 5 years later and they are still the absolute best around! I m not sure what I d do without them.

Their work is high quality, and their system of taking pictures and rating each part of your vehicle during an oil change makes viewing and storing information about your car extremely easy. Definitely recommending them to friends!

While I haven't yet been to many dealers, what is stands out about this place is that they actually take the time to explain things to you and answer any question you have. I don't feel as if I'm being nickeled and dimed and I don't feel rushed to pay before I'm sure about the decisions being made. Came here to get a tire change.

Ace body and Motor are a top notch automotive repair shop. I would not trust anyone else to do repairs to my 2010 Honda. The inspection of the vehicles mechanical components is exceptional. They are honest and capable. The only shop i trust my vehicle to. Had a regular 20,000 mile service for my 2021 Honda Passport. I waited on the vehicle while they serviced it and did a vehicle inspection. Service was very quick and cost of service very reasonable.
