After an oil change, I was having issues with my car shaking, pulling hard to the right, and my tire pressure light kept coming on. Unfortunately, I was also leaving on a trip and was unable to stop back in prior to leaving. Made for a not so fun drive and honestly I was a little upset.Upon returning, I called and took my CR-V back. They looked at it and fixed the problem without hesitation or charging me extra. The light has since been off and she drives like a champ!There are things that happen, and yes I was upset. But customer service is everything and they took care of the problem when I called. I am very happy with the service I get at Honda of Ames and recommend them. Things happen and it s understandable. They take care of their customers and are trustworthy and knowledgeable about your vehicle. I called the dealership when I had warning lights cycling through on my dash and the service dept was able to check the vehicle that afternoon. The initial diagnosis was ruled out and it was determined to be a problem with the fuel injector system. I had purchased the vehicle as certified used just a month before, so I did not have to pay anything out of pocket for the repairs. The service staff were knowledgeable, friendly, and let me know exactly what was happening. This is my first time having to take this car in for repairs, and I felt that it was a very positive service experience. Everyone that I gave talked with at this dealership has been extremely professional, courteous, and knowledgeable.

60000 maintenance. Good, but they should have checked the battery for the amount I was charged. My technician was in a hurry fir me to leave. He didn't spend enough time detailing what had been done. I left feeling a little worried. I purchased a 2014 Town and Country minivan from Honda of Ames in mid October 2022. My experience at Honda of Ames was not good at all. The van I bought was not even close to what they presented it to be. They did not report on the Car Fax report that they had replaced the engine with an engine out of a junk yard. I found out when I was halfway done signing financing paperwork. Also, when I test drove the van there was a check engine light on. They said they would take care of that. 5 minutes after I left the dealership after buying the van the light came back on. The first night I had the van it was leaking transmission fluid in my garage. I took the van back to them. They fixed the leak and said they put an 02 sensor in it. The day after I got it back after the repairs the check engine light came back on. I went back to Honda of Ames. I sat in their waiting area for 4 hours while they worked on my van. Shortly after I left the check engine light came back on. I returned to the dealership and they gave me a loaner vehicle and sent me home (after I sat there for 4 hours). I have had their loaner vehicle for a month. They sent my van to another repairs shop which has determined that the transmission was bad and needs replaced. Thankfully I bought a bumper to bumper service warranty because Honda of Ames has stopped calling me back and will not communicate with me about my van. Without the warranty I would be paying for the new transmission out of my pocket when they said they would take care of the check engine light. The communication from the dealership has been terrible. I have left a message for the sales manager and asked my salesman to have the sales manager call me. I have never gotten a call from the sales manager and now my salesman is not responding to text messages. Honda of Ames has not kept their word or followed through. The only thing that Honda of Ames has done right is let me drive a loaner vehicle for over a month. I am extremely disappointed in my experience and the service at Honda of Ames. I will never spend another dime at that dealership and would advise all future customers to use caution when buying a used vehicle from them.Services: Transmission, General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic

Felt like they only wanted to argue with me about everything on this visit. Told me they knew better than the manufacturer about tire pressure and what it should be. They know better than the mfg. Apparently.Also they can't accommodate not rotating one of the tires to stay on the rear.Just a very frustrating visit overall!!Services: Tire rotations, Oil change

A few days after the inspection of my Honda Fit got green-lit, my son (who works as a mechanical engineer), noticed blue crystals of a copper compound surrounding the battery. If left alone, the battery would rust and severely damage the car. So, we went to Honda to tell them how missing or failing to report this to customers doesn't meet the inspection's green-light requirements. It should, at the very least, be yellow. And the inspectors should have reported this issue to us.However, the front-counter staff told us that they weren't responsible for this incident. But when we simply inquired further as to why it wasn't, they became upset. As an owner of a Honda vehicle, I can't help but feel severely disappointed in the service I received. If it weren't for my son, then I don't know what I would've done once the car's battery rusted because I wouldn't have noticed this issue.Services: Vehicle safety inspection, Battery

You know, the shop does a very good job but this polling service is just inept. I have reviewed this appointment three times and still keep getting reminders. I will not respond to another email request.The service is excellent, got my tires rotated and oil changed in under half an hour. I called them mid afternoon and they got me in at 8:00 AM the following morning.This time I brought my car in to have a recall service performed. As usual, professional and quick.Again, the dealership and the service deserve top marks, I could not recommend them higher.Services: Tires, Oil change

I got my oil changed here and my tires rotated! Very easy to make my appointment online, got my car in right away and then got done in less then an hour. Only thing that surprised me was it costed more than it does at my normal Honda dealership back home for the work done. I brought my auto in because of a vibration in the steering wheel. They balanced the tires but a slight vibration persisted. They charged me half price. A couple days later the vibration got so bad I checked the lug nuts and found the left front lug nuts loose. I tightened them up (and checked the others) and it is now smooth as silk.

rotation. Puchased my last four vehicles here with oil changes for life. Each time I did an oil change, they brought me a dirty filter to change for an inflated fee. Now the gimmick is tire rotations. I was reluctant, but agreed only to find put later the tires were never rotated. I had issues with slow responses with Mel on getting my radio replaced & finding out if my warranty would cover it. I tried working with him for 1 1/2 months since it wasn't an urgent replacement. Jeff stepped up and got it done within a week.

Honda of Ames did a great job providing essential services to our Odyssey. They replaced the damaged catalytic converter, replaced brake pads, completed a coolant fluid flush, and a brake fluid flush. They also did an end to end vehicle inspection. The team at Honda of Ames were outstanding! They communicated well, did outstanding work, were honest and fair, and exceptionally helpful and kind. We will continue to use their service department for our vehicle needs.

The service department applied a protective coating to the outside of the car, which I had bought a few days before. They said it would take an hour and a half but it took about an hour. I had an issue with the bill, and lack of communication with the work performed. The service manager Mel addressed my concerns immediately,; his attention to customer service to me was more important than the actual work done to tge car, as they always do a good job. My experience was all good. The service person was more than helpful and the work was finished in the expected time. This was my first time taking my Passport to Honda of Ames - also the first time it was due for maintenance. I had bought it here in Marshalltown partly because I preferred a local dealer. Shortly after my purchase the dealer here closed. I went to Ames instead of a metro Des Moines dealer because it s more convenient.Service: Oil change

I used Honda of Ames because I had a wheel shimmy and a tire light on while traveling. They were polite and efficient, and balanced all four tires as I requested. However, they did not troubleshoot the tire light because they don't keep parts in stock for something so common as a tire pressure monitoring sensor tire valve, a part used on every Honda since 2000. After leaving Honda of Ames I drove 40 miles and had a tire light on again. Which put me at another Honda dealership which diagnosed my bad valve stem. I don't remember what they charged me for the 4 wheel balance, and honestly it doesn't matter because I had to have it done. But they should have fixed my other issue while I was there so I wouldn't have had to drive from one dealership to another.

Touch ups were to be done on a used vehicle before purchase. They failed to get them done, they even called and told me it was done. Had to return for touch ups at a later date. Looks absolutely miserable. I could have have done a better job myself. They offered no remedy. 2nd vehicle I had purchased from them and I will never be back after the terrible customer service this time.Service: Painting

Had appointment to have a new key cut on August 6. After almost two hours was told that my key was ready. I paid and went to the car only to discover the buttons on the new key would not open the doors.Was told a new key would be ordered and that I would be called as soon as it came in. I did not receive a call, so I called back August 13. My Service Advisor, Jonathan Ballar told me that my paperwork had made its way upstairs without him having a chance to write down my phone number. Thus, no call.On August 14 my new key was cut with success.Hopefully this was a learning experience. Why couldn't the tech who tried to program my new key on August 6 recognize that the work did not succeed? Why didn't he actually take the key to the car and try it out? Why couldn't Jonathan retrieve my phone number from upstairs?I am pleased to report that at the end of my second trip to Honda that Jonathan did go out with me and demonstrate that the key did function properly. I like Jonathan and think he is a good man.

I took my van in for routine service and tire rotation. I got a call that my cabin filter needed replaced. Then received a call that my rear caliper were seizing. Cost to replace would be $1280 plus. Also that there were fluid leaks that should be addressed. Thought this seemed sketchy so got a second opinion. Turns out van checked out fine So exactly what kind of a scam is Honda of Ames running??? Was planning to purchase a vehicle there within the next 4 months but would not even consider it now

I was given a time estimated on when my vehicle will be ready and there where on time with completion of service. The shop does a good job and typically are not trying to upsell you. This is one of the reasons I have bought my last 2 cars at Honda of Ames. I got 2 different cars therefore paying 1 loan off and acquiring another loan. They bumped the interest rate from 3.5 to 5.5. Now my payments are $100 more per month. Same bank for both. Probably because I didn't know they weren't telling me the truth. Probably because I'm a woman. Therefore I am moving my loan to my own bank. I know I can trust them. Very angry about this. Watch out for crooks and liars!
