I brought my daughters VW Tiguan in because of a check engine light. When I got there, the staff were all friendly and helpful. I had replaced a cam sensor a few months ago but the light would not go off and the symptoms were still there. Austin checked the cam sensor and then proceeded to use his expertise to get the cars computer to relearn the sensor. 20 minutes and I was out of there. The cool thing was that he only charged me for 30 minutes of work instead of the per hour rate. He is definitely professional and I ll be going there from now on with any car issues. Thank you!

They had my car for 2 weeks, ended up charging me for labor for a false diagnosis, they never fixed my car and told me to take it to the dealership for a part under warranty. I took my car to the dealership, car was fixed within one day, a completely different issue than what Rich s diagnosed. They won t admit they didn t know what they were doing or messed up. I received half my money back but l paid them more for nothing than I did the dealership to fix my car in the end.Definitely avoid this shop.

Let me save you some headache, don't waste your time and money here. Go to a AAA certified ASE certified shop. Those shops usually will be clean and organized, transparent and well above board, unlike this place.

I should ve done more research on an engine replacement. No warranty offered on used engine replacement - other shops do. Oil pan leaked when completed - not sure why gasket and pan weren t removed and replaced simply as a preventative measure. AC didn t work. If you are not mechanically inclined and you depend on judgement and dependable work from a mechanic, especially on a large repair, I would not trust Rich s. I would have done better by going elsewhere. As an update- oil pan gasket was not the problem, turns out it was a main bearing seal. Rich s response to why it wasn t replaced with the engine swap was that it would void the warranty that he said earlier didn t exist. I know it s a coin flip to do such things when getting a new old motor, but there was no standing behind their work here. AVOID.

My car's gears were slipping, and I was charged $260 to change the transmission fluid. When we asked if they changed the filter, they said they didn't. When my dad inquired if it would fix the problem, they were unsure, mentioning that I needed to drive it to find out. After my father left, they informed me I had a bad transmission, without even testing it.

Rich and his team have saved my butt multiple times. I bought a (what I thought was nice) used Jeep that looked esthetically great but has had a slew of internal issues from the drive train breaking to many issues with the cooling system as a whole. Rich and his team have always fixed everything in a timely manner and at a fair price. I would recommend him to anyone!

Well, several months after I brought in my truck for a repair, I have my truck in the shop today getting the exact same repair at a different shop.

Well established in the Boise Valley, Rich's Auto Care really does care about quality repair at an affordable price. My vehicle is a big investment and these guys know how to keep it in great running condition. Thanks again, Rich!

I am on the fence with these guys. There is definitely no where to park when you pull in. That sucks. I went in for a sencor. They fixed it. But had to go back because the part was defective. I guess. The wife went there and felt complete taken advantage of. She did not like the service and what they supposedly did. So im on the fence. It's hard to fund a good mechanic that won't play you like a fiddle

If I could give Rich less than one star I would My daughter was traveling through Boise when her engine light came on. She stopped at Rich s to have it looked at and was told it was an easy repair. Just one of the four oil control valves needed to be replaced. After 3 hours and $300 she was on her way. She got to Jerome and her engine light came on again. She stopped at another mechanic who said the wrong valve had been replaced. It took him 20 minutes and he charged her $90. She called Rich and asked him to reimburse at least some of the money she paid him for not fixing the car but he refused to accept any responsibility or refund her the money. Rich is DISHONEST and UNETHICAL. He took advantage of the situation my daughter was in. Just another greedy businessman.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Transmission repair

1996 grand Cherokee . They were really nice understanding of the drop off and even know it wouldn't do it for them. They were really nice about and even help me recharge the dead battery. Cool guys might take my Datsun to them.

Rich has worked on my car a couple of times and did excellent work at a fair price each time. Last time i got my clutch and both CV axles done. Great job on both. Great family business and uniquely calm and to the point mechanic. Hell of a nice guy. If you want someone good at their craft who cares about what thry are doing, I absolutely recommend.

2 and 1/2 months of my vehicle being broken I d almost lost hope. Mechanics would give it back still broken with quotes $3000 and up. Rich had it for 2 days and got it running with a bill less than a third of other peoples quotes. Fantastic work, fantastic instincts, very knowledgeable. I ll be taking my vehicles here from now on. No exceptions.Services: General repairs & maintenance, Auto engine diagnostic, Auto maintenance

Dishonest about diagnosis. Told there was hole in power steering with leak. It is electronic. We trusted them to be honest will not return or refer anyone there.

My car wouldn t start at a local coffee shop. I called Rich s to ask how best to proceed. The gentleman I talked to gave me a suggestion to try over the phone and it worked! Saved me a tow and repair fee, which could have happened and I wouldn t even have known. A simple act of honesty like that means the world to me as a customer.Service: Auto maintenanceService: Auto maintenance

Good Sams Club towed my truck to Rich's because it was the closest mechanic in the vicinity.I called to ask for a diagnosis/quote and Rich told me he was away from the shop and that he'd call me back. That was at 2. I called again at 3:30pm and nobody answered. By the time I got to the phone next they were closed. The next morning I called at ~9:30. Rich told me that they were already a ways into replacing on my Ignition Lock Cylinder, that it would be ready by 12, and that it would be $330 ($90 parts, $220 labor, $7 Hazardous Materials). I was baffled but gave my contact info and picked up my car at noon. When I got home, I researched the repair (I usually do this at the time of diagnosis in order to not get taken advantage of). The cylinder is as cheap as $17 at Autozone. And between the 3-4 tutorial videos on replacing the part, it would probably take ~15 for a person with rudimentary knowledge of a screwdriver to get the job done. Unhook the battery, 4 screws, pulling a panel back, pulling a pin, replacing the part, and putting everything back.We went back and forth on the parts pricing. Got nowhere with that. When I mentioned the $220 labor charge ($100/hr), he said they spent a while trying to repair the cylinder rather than just replace it. So they spent a little more than two hours racking up my bill trying to replace a part that takes an experienced mechanic ~5min to replace. That plus grinding a new key brings that to about 10-15 min.I'm frustrated that I wasn't included in any of this discussion. I wasn't able to get a diagnosis, a quote, be part of the decision to repair the cylinder, or any of it. I could've paid for the diagnosis, gotten my car to an empty lot, walked a mile down the road to Autozone, and done the repair for $17. $40 at most.Getting home and reading the reviews, and making a post on my personal fb page exposed me to how many people have dealt with Rich's business practices. He seems to claim otherwise, but at a certain point if something smells like bs, looks like bs, and squishes under your foot like bs, then it's probably bs.Service: Electrical repair

Rich's charged me $390 to charge my dead (but still almost new) battery and replace a 10amp fuse. They did all the "work" without quoting me first. I'm refuting the charge with the bank and started a file with the Better Business Bureau.Called Peterson Toyota and they quoted $90-105 for the same job (parts and labor) and also included replacing the faulty battery terminal which Rich's team did not do.It is now September and Rich has not responded to the BBB, I am now going to reach out to the attorney general's office to report his shady practices of working on vehicles without authorization.

Rich is amazing! He never suggests work that isn't needed. He asks me every time I bring my car in what my budget is and lets me know what I need done by priority and always within the budget I give him. No surprise bills from him! No unnecessary work! No made-up charges to pad the bill! No mansplaining from this guy! He's never taken advantage of me being a woman or not having all the knowledge of a mechanic. He's even allowed me to make payments when my budget is too tight to get a repair done that is necessary. I practically live in my car for work and if it's stuck in a shop then I miss out on an entire day's wage. He's always made sure that my car is back on the road within a few hours instead of a few days like other shops do. He's stayed open late to make sure my car is done when I'm facing a time crunch. When I moved across town, I checked out the shops close to me but none provided the kind of service Rich does so I'm happy to make the drive to get repairs done and he's even given me a ride back home so I don't have to pay for a taxi. He's been my mechanic for almost 8 years and I now send all my family members and friends to him.

I must give them credit for finding the significant problem my car was having, and fixing it. It's nice to have my car drivable. However, I took my car here for just a diagnosis for approximately $100, should have known by the next day. Instead, 3 days later I get a call saying my car is fixed and ready to be picked up at a cost of nearly $600! I was very livid and disappointed to not be given the opportunity to decide if I wanted them to fix it and not giving me the heads up of what was wrong first. It hurt my finances a lot to come up with the money to get my car back, I'm still recovering from it. As it turns out, it's not even completely fixed, if I didn't have to pay all of that to get my car back, I could be looking into what is going on further and possibly fixing it completely. All in all, they do good work for sure, I won't deny that. Just watch out for the unexpected.

I would recommend Rich s Auto Care to anyone I know! I got my truck towed there early morning with rotor/tire stud damage and it was done early afternoon. They were professional, fast and up front with the estimate they gave me over the phone and it ended up being even cheaper than the quote, please give this guy business.Services: General repairs & maintenance, BrakesServices: General repairs & maintenance, Brakes

I have taken my car to Rich's Auto several times and every time, I am impressed. All of the employees are kind and personable, they always do good work on my vehicle and I always walk away feeling like I can trust Rich's. They are always honest and fair. One time, all I needed was a new vacuum hose and because it was such a quick and easy fix, they replaced the hose for free. Most recently, I asked them to replace the fuel filter. After inspecting my car, they told me that they didn't think a new fuel filter would improve my vehicle' performance and didn't want to see me spend money I didn't need to. Other mechanics I have hired have charged me money to fix something that did not fix the problem. There are not enough words for me to fully express the trust and gratitude I feel. Thank you Bill, and all the other employees at Rich's, for taking such good care of me and my car.

Had my Gen5 Camaro tuned by Rich Jr and he did a fantastic job. My camaro was a pain to tune due to some of the modifications I have done but he never gave up. He even came out to my house to do the initial tune as I couldn't drive it to the shop at the time. He always kept me informed and responded to my questions and was always willing to adjust the tune to get it dialed in. For what it's worth, I definitely recommend getting your vehicle performanced tuned here. The level of service and quality of work was outstanding.Service: Auto engine tuning

The folks at Rich's were polite, friendly, and I spent more time than I figured I would, however, I left there feeling like they are a team of individuals that really earned your trust. I had an alternator go bad on me and I was really pressed for time as I needed to get my vehicle fixed so I could drive myself to work and they were able to get me back on the road at an affordable rate too. Looking for an honest mechanic? Try Rich and his team.

Last night I was in a really bad pinch and these guys were right there to help. I found out on Friday that my front brakes needed to be completely replaced when I went in for an oil change at Jiffy Lube. I didn't get my paycheck until Monday evening, so I was going to get them replaced Tuesday. That wasn't quick enough, though. As I was driving home from getting my paycheck, they completely wore out. Metal on metal grinding, I was having a hard time stopping. I pulled over, but it was after 7pm, so every place was closed, couldn't even speak to anyone. Well Rich answered. He gave me a rough quote of $328 dollars to get it all replaced, rotors and pads. I mentioned that it was kind of upsetting because Jiffy Lube quoted me $250, but I didn't have an option. He knew I would have paid the extra, but he called around for me to find cheaper parts and got it down to $255. He said I could come drop off my car in the morning and he'd have in done in a couple hours. But I needed it done then, I didn't even feel comfortable driving it the rest of the way home. He told me to go ahead and bring it over, even though they didn't accept customers that late and he would even have two guys work in it to get it done in under an hour. It took a lot longer that. It took two hours because it was worse than expected, and they had to make several trips to the part store because the wrong ones were delivered. And he didn't charge me extra for it. With everything that went wrong with it they probably worked on it for free. No complaints and no extra charges for it. They are by far the best and kindest repair shop in town, and valley. I can't express how much their kindness meant to me when I was in such dire need, and didn't take advantage of me when they very easily could have.TL;DR: Amazing people, amazing service. They are fair and truly care about their customers.
