Probably this review echos a lot of what s been said in other reviews. Very honest. Told me a 3,000 dollar series of tune ups recommended elsewhere didn t need to be done. Like none of them. When I asked how much I owed they said, nothing. When I asked if they could at least change my air filters to pay them something, they said no, because they didn t need changed . And it wasn t just me - I was waiting for my car and overheard a mechanic tell the desk guy not to charge another client anything because what they tried to fix his car didn t work. . They didn t want any of my money today, but they ll get some of it later because I m a customer now. Businesses like this are few and far between.

I've been using Mike's Boise Clutch & Automotive for all my automative repair and maintenance services for over a decade. I've never been anything less than fully satisfied with the service. The crew is honest, straight forward, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. I wouldn't hesitate a moment to recommend them to anyone. If you're looking for an honest and reliable shop, you can't go wrong with Mike's Boise Clutch & Automotive.

There's a reason they get booked out two weeks for an oil change. These guys are awesome! Mike Maxey has been taking care of my family's vehicles for 20 years now. Thank you Mike for running your shop with such integrity!

Just moved into town and was recommended to go here from some locals. Great shop! Kind people and honest. Came in for a noise at high speeds, they determined it wasn t as much as an issue as it seemed and got my truck back no charge. Will be bringing all my vehicles to mikes!

Mike and the guys are great. I typically work on my own cars but at times I need to take them to the shop and this is the only place I'll go.

I and my in-laws have been loyal customers of this shop for several years now. Unfortunately, due to my recent experience of their flagrant incompetence I cannot continue to recommend them. I had been having power steering steering issues that took 3 separate trips and over 3 thousand dollars to get right, which seemed fine. What happened next was unbelievable!! (See pic). Such a scary, dangerous and elementary mistake for them to miss a totally worn out/loose lower ball joint! Sadly this is not even why I am writing this. As a business owner myself, it is shocking that Mike would not take responsibility or make the mistake right. I can no longer support them and recommend you dont either.Service: Steering & suspension repair

Update: I originally posted this review below 9 years ago. I d give them 10 stars today if I could. They are the most competent, honest and customer service oriented mechanics that I ve ever done business with. They exceeded my expectations again today like they have many times. They ve earned my loyalty and that of my family!Can't say enough good about these people. I heard about them from two different trusted sources. I've switched over to them for the maintenance of all my vehicles this past year. They always seem to deliver more in service value than they charge me in dollars. They are quick and efficient and know how to get the job done. They keep me coming back and I plan to stay with them for a long time. I've already told others about them.

Highly recommend! Stopped by shortly before closing time because the muffler was falling off our rental car. Mike s graciously accepted us as a walk-in and was able to fix the problem right away. If we hadn t stopped here, we would have lost a full day of our vacation. Thankful for the great service from Mike s!

As of 5/31/23 - Still can t say anything bad about this shop. They can t do everything but what they do is great work. The front desk is very helpful.I can t say better things about this shop.The service is friendly. They are busy shop but always work with me on scheduling, and when they can t it s due to them having a ton of work. They have a ton of work because of how they treat the customer and they don t charge an arm and a leg.The work they do is quality. The opinions they give are honest. They could tell you that you need a service but it s my experience that they tell you whether you need it now or if you can wait. No pressure.I ve brought back my car every time to get what they recommended. I use to shop for better prices but I ve found this shop is either very competitive or less then other shops. Plus I trust them. So I would rather possibly pay more with them and keep getting great service and trust what has been done than go somewhere else.If they can t do what you need they recommend places that can.What can I say I really like this shop.

On first encounter really impressed with the level of integrity saving unnecessary costs, providing free checks and cleans and being honest about the situation . Hope there were more places like them. Just wished they had more available spots and extended hours :).

Simply the best mechanic in town. Very reasonably priced oil changes. No unnecessary service. Honest. Exactly what you look for in a mechanic. I don t leave many reviews, but their service to my vehicle over the last 2 years is top notch.

Great group of guys that always treat my family and I well. Very reasonably priced. My most recent visit was after one of the larger tire shops in town told me I needed to spend roughly $1200 to fix a noise coming from my front wheel well. It ended up just being a small metal tab on the brake that was rubbing the rotor and needed bent back into position. They took care of this in like 5 minutes and didn't even charge me. It refreshing to know that there are some good, ethical mechanics out there that aren't just looking to take advantage of people.

My family has been going to this shop for years and they have always been great for small maintenance with great prices. Recently my car broke down and I had to get it towed. They replaced the radiator cap and the ignition coil. When I came to pick it up it still sounded a little off but it seemed to run okay. I paid and drove for about 8 minutes and the the hood started smoking and I felt a loss of power. I opened the hood and the coolant was already boiling and had leaked. I decided to bring it to Toyota service so I will be without car for more days.Overall, I feel like if a car breaks down the analysis should be much more thorough than it was. I only drove 8 minutes and the car was already clearly messed up. I explicitly said when I bought it to the shop that the car was starting oddly, had a loss of power, and was smoking (from the coolant leaking).Overall, I still feel like this is a good shop, but I was very disappointed with what happened. I feel bad for writing a negative review because they seem like really nice people but it's only fair. Hopefully Toyota service is better at diagnosing the problem.Service: General repairs & maintenance

The Toyota dealership wanted to charge $1,000+ for an oil change and a few other things at 30,000 miles. This didn't sound right so I called Boise Clutch. They were completely honest about what needed to be done at 30k and it saved me $800.

As a woman.... I often get the run around from mechanics. However, I was very impressed with the professionalism and honest service from Mike and the Boise Clutch team. The repair was costly, but I know it was fair. I noticed an immediate difference in my vehicle and the relief I felt after the repair was immeasurable. I am a single mom and business owner, so having vehicle issues was/is very straining. I now have comfort that my vehicle is in good hands when needing repairs and routine service. I was even shown the replaced part and explained the malfunction in detail. That is was very impressive and built a lot of trust. It goes a long way. Mike was also able to fit my vehicle in same day and got everything done in an impressive time span. Can't thank them enough!Service: Engine repair

My son's truck broke down and even though they were super busy they got it done super fast when I explained it was his only transportation and I was almost 2 hours away ! Super nice people! Then they referred me to a place to have his transmission rebuilt. Thank you for all your help !!

Had them install a muffler and redo my exhaust tip on my obnoxiously loud straight piped Cummins. They did awesome work even though they typically don t deal with 5 pipe like mine. Great price too! Thank you.Service: ExhaustService: Exhaust

This is hands down the best mechanic I have visited on multiple occasions.These guys go to work and go above and beyond. They are transparent about the work and pricing and work quickly to get the job done on a myriad of makes and models.I live deep in Nampa, and I ll go out of my way to get my work done here. Fantastic service, quick turn-around time, and very fair pricing. This was my first time at Mike s. I had a coolant leak in my 2004 Chevy Silverado and suspected it was the water pump. During their free inspection, they confirmed that the water pump was indeed the problem. I also asked them to replace the thermostat, and they recommended that both belts should be replaced (which I agreed). Everything was completed in about 3 hours. These guys have a great reputation, and from my 5+ years of experience with them, they deserve it.I have a couple examples that demonstrate why I think they have great customer service and are trustworthy.Less than 2 weeks ago, I scheduled an appointment to have my brakes looked at and described the 2 (infrequent) sounds I was hearing. They called me shortly after I dropped it off and said the brake pads still have about 30-40% of their life left and should last at least another 9-12 months. They wouldn't recommend replacing them yet, but they could if I wanted.Several years ago, they replaced my rack & pinions to fix a wonky steering issue. Nearly 12 months later, the issue returned and I brought the car in again. They called me and explained that the parts had a 1 year warranty so they installed new rack & pinions 100% free of charge.When I had transmission issues, I called them 1st. They recommended another trusted mechanic since they couldn't get me in that week.Full disclosure, I work with Mike's brother. He's also one of the most honest guys I've met. Always willing to step up to resolve things, regardless of who's responsible.I hope they find a way to expand since they are so busy and popular. Maybe 1 location for maintenance and another for repairs :)

My Dad has been using this shop for years for his cars, and gave a call to Chad to take a look at a car I was interested in buying while in town...They fit me in right away the day that I found something, and although I did not personally know them, were all extremely friendly, helpful and gracious in taking a look at my car, even giving me advice on multiple phone calls regarding the car and buying process.Fair and honest guys...Highly recommend for any car issue/service.Thank you Chad & Team!Service: Vehicle Inspection
