This is a first class establishment! The staff are friendly and the pricing is good. After a driveline repair, I noticed some fluid on my garage floor. I called the shop to inquire and they immediately fit me into their full schedule that day, diagnosed the problem, replaced the seal, and didn't even charge me! I am a customer for life and I'll be happy to recommend them as often as possible. Thank you Jim and team!

Generational awesomeness! The owner Jim is a great business owner. Most local treasure valley mechanic shops go to him for all drive train issues. No the son Steve is in line to take over. Great family run business!

Jim got me in within days of my call, gave me a very reasonable price, and cleaned up my driveshaft. Took it in for new ujoints on my 05 Tacoma, they definitely went above and beyond

Brought my Jeep CJ7 of 28 yrs to have a evaluation by the best drive train shop in the valley. Wasn't disappointed! Old school mechanics who tell you the truth, good, bad or otherwise. Each issue came with a solid solution at a decent price. You know when you see Jim, it will be done once, right and with the knowledge and experience!Good to know there are still good family shops that will stand behind their service!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Had a bent driveline off of a backhoe, they said they could repair it good as new. We live two hours away and dropped it off. They where super busy and I had to wait for about 15 minutes before they could get to me. They where super nice and friendly, so the wait wasn't a big deal. The repair should take a day or two only because they had to order material that isn't normally stocked. Again not a big deal. I am looking forward to continuing doing business with Jim. It's hard to find a reliable shop that does top notch work.

This is the place to go in the Treasure Valley. Jim was great and was able to get my rear differential replaced much quicker than he anticipated. They were very honest through the entire process and to my surprise it cost less than what I was anticipating. I now know why he came so highly recommended. If I ever have an issue with any of my other cars you can bet I will be taking them to Jim!!! Thank you!

I've been working on my 1968 Dodge Mopar, however there are some things you should just pay someone to do it right. I wanted a limited slip Detroit True Track in the 8 3/4 rear-end. I called around and nobody sounded confident in doing the work except for Jim. When I dropped it off be apologize because he was a bit dirty. The work performed was excellent, thanks.

Amazing customer service. I had a piece replaced at no charge after it caused me issues shortly after having it installed. They were able to get me back in, take care of me, and made sure that I didn't get charged for a faulty part. Thanks Jim's Drive Train!!Service: General repairs & maintenanceService: General repairs & maintenance

I've been using Jim's shop for 28 years. Always fair, quality work, he stands by what he does. If you want cheap, unqualified work, this isn't your shop.

I called my (the best) Transmission guy to see if he could, then I called the best mechanic to see if he could. Both gave me the same referral here. They were correct. Driveshaft replaced and price was fair. They know what they are doing so you should count on them.

This place is amazing! The pinion bearing went out on my front axle and destroyed it on the way home from Moab. They were able to get me in the same day and got me back on the road - for a fair price. Absolute rock stars!

Two things you want in an auto shop are quality work and honesty - and you'll get both here. Long story short, I'll only go to Jim's for any of my drive train needs.Full story: I had a less than stellar experience at another place, who told me my ujoints needed to be replaced. I came to Jim's Drivetrain for a second opinion. They called me a few hours after dropping my truck off to say that actually the ujoints were fine and since the OEM's are stronger than any aftermarket ones, it's better to clean them up than to replace them. They realigned everything, dropped my carrier bearing for a better angle for the lift on my truck, which eliminated a nasty vibration I didn't even realize I had until I drove away and noticed how smooth it rode. Also had it back on the same day. All this while saving me over $200.They could've easily just swapped the parts out and made more money off it but instead chose to do it the right way. There's a reason they've been in business this long.

Jim and crew are the best! Bobby s transmission referred me and I m glad I listened :) Exceeded expectations all while underpromising and overdelivering! Finally a business that gets it!

After I lifted my 17 Tacoma and ran 33 tires, I had Jim s Driveline install Nitro 4.88 gears in the front and rear diff. They do excellent work at a fair price with a pretty fast turnaround. During the break in process they even let me borrow a pretty expensive infrared thermometer so I could measure my differential temps.Needless to say I m very happy with the work they did and my rig feels like a completely different truck giving me power and torque when I need it. Would absolutely recommend this shop.

This is the second time I have brought a truck to these guys to work on. The quality of work and service they provide is second to none. The most recent time, I called late Thursday and they got me in on a Friday morning and had my truck done by Friday afternoon. Great service and quality work. I would recomemed Jims Drive Train to anoyone who needs repairs.

Jim's had my truck for a day for a complete rear end rebuild, the other shops I contacted wanted my truck for 3 or more days and wanted to charge me almost double what I paid at Jim's. The work was excellent as well as the customer service. Not to mention the free inspection and fluid change after the break in period. I'll recommend Jim's to anyone needing drivetrain work done on their vehicles.

I'm retired and still play with cars as a hobby.Took in 2 rear axles to install new seals, to Jim's drive line, when I picked up the cost was $280.... $80 for bearing's and $200 labor he stated it took 3 hour's but he was only charging me for 2 hours... $100 pH X 2 hour'sI worked in the automotive machine shop field for 18 years... I am ASE certified in 18 different fields so I'm quite aware what is needed to replace axle seals and bearing's.... I've personally done 200-300 myself. Most axles took me 20-30 minutes for a pair... These axles had c-clip eliminators, which does add a little more time possibly 20-30 minutes but the 2 hour charge was excessive. The work was done well, I have no issues with the work just was overly priced. Will I be back.... No I'll buy a press next time

Absolutely impressed with their help. They set me up to fix my 4Runner that had a bad wheel bearing - that a Toyota dealership said was completely fine - and then haggled the insurance company that saved me so much money. I am grateful for their honest service!

At first, before they got inside the rear differential of my 1974 Chevy truck, they said "worse case scenario, it would cost about $1600." Once they found the actual problem, it was only around $400. PRAISE GOD FOR HONEST MECHANICS! I highly recommend Jim's Drive train Specialties!

Called for help diagnosing an issue. They said they were too busy to look at it. It's a good sign that they're busy. But it doesn't do much good if you need your car fixed.

I heard a noise coming from the rear of 2008 Toyota Tundra, I had originally it was a U joint, turned out to be a false assumption on my part.Took it to the Toyota dealer and they said they bearings in the third member where bad $2600 dollars worth to be exact. At the recommendation of a friend I took it to Jim's Drive Train. It turns out to be the best advice I have ever had. Jim's crew put the truck up on the rack and ID'd the problem as a bad bearing in the right rear wheel. I had them do the repair and they saved me over $1800 Dollars in the process.I found Jim and his staff to quick and accurate in their diagnosis and and repair. Without reservation, if you have a drive line problem they are the only place to go. I found them to be very honorable people to work with. From my first visit to, diagnosis, thru the repair which was done when the said it would be.They are great people to work with, PERIOD.Thank you "Jim" and your crew !!!!!!!

I brought my driveshaft into Jim's for a balance. Jim determined the Driveshaft was actually bent. He straightened it, balanced it and now my trucks drivetrain is smooth as Glass. Amazing work! Thanks Jim!!!!

Jim is great. Stopped in for two small needle style grease fittings. He handed them to me. When I asked how much I owed him the answer was that they were on the house. His cost was about 5 cents each so he felt bad aobut charging for them. This is a great way to do business. I will recommend him to everyone I can.

Fair and Fast!! I had originally taken my Suburban to Heritage Auto in Meridian. When I was quoted an outrageous price to replace the rear diff, I shopped. So glad I found Jim's! They did it for less than half the price and had my burb back on the road the same day!Highly recommended!

Jim and his staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I stopped by on a Friday afternoon you all then to look at my truck and give me a quote on a front driveline and they were bustling. They had my truck in a bay with 20 minutes and Jim gave my an array of possibilities to choose from. Love these guys. Oh yeah they built the rear driveshaft for my truck. Thing could push a tank and looked like a work of art.
