Well...so far, Gowans Garage has been a godsend and they haven't even worked on my truck yet. My Chevy Suburban stalled going south I-59 on a trip from Tennessee to Florida, so I called around to various auto shops to see what I could do about the pickle I was in. Lisa at Gowen's Garage was the first friendly voice and WOW was she helpful. Lisa lined up a tow (A+ towing/Anthony is spectacular in their own right) and had some wonderful suggestions for my kids and I (and our truckload of stuff/luggage) about where to go and what to do for us strangers in a strange land. The kids and I were back on the road in a rental car and my stalled truck was taken to the shop over the weekend awaiting a diagnosis on Monday and hopeful fix. For my kids and I being in such a bad situation, Lisa turned a lemon into lemonade. Greatest thanks!

My van broke on a road trip on a Thursday evening, and since it was a 1992 model a lot of franchises wouldn't work on it and the shops that would were booked out.I didn't have much hope but started calling around Friday morning. Jerry Gowen's didn't promise anything, but they said they'd try and get me fixed before the weekend. And they did! Saving my trip, and for a reasonable price. Friendly people who helped me out in a pinch and didn't take advantage of me.

The a/c in my car was not cooling so I took it to a friend who was a former mechanic to get his opinion. He recommended that I add anti-freeze, and if that did not correct the problem, I needed a new condenser. After the anti-freeze leaked out, I took my vehicle to Jerry Gowen's garage in Fairburn. After inspecting my vehicle, I was told that I did need a condenser, and with parts and labor it would be roughly $800. This was on September 11, 2023. A few days later after the condenser was received and installed, they called to tell me that black smoke came out the vents and that in addition to the condenser, I would also need a compressor. Needing my vehicle back I told them to go ahead and replace it. When I picked up my vehicle on September 18, 2023, the bill was $2664.15. When I took the vehicle by my former mechanic's, he informed me that i had been had. I'm a senior citizen and on a fixed income, learning that I'd been taken advantage of as I suspected has made me angry, and disheartened. I'm writing this review so that people will know my experience with Jerry Gowen's Garage, and perhaps have second thoughts before patronizing their business and at a minimum, getting a second opinion, so that they don't have the expensive, and horrible experience I did.d labor it would be roughly $800. Great mechanic, will always find your issue and will always get the diagnoses right, although I miss the days where they used to go up and beyond regular repair and would do a few minor things without even charging you, they do charge you now for even the gloves that they use but I guess it's just today's economy.

Pretty good experience overall. A little more than I expected to spend. However they work fast and did exactly what we agreed on.Car is still going strong and I have no issues with their work.

This is going to be a little lengthy so bear with me. I had an engine failure in my 2014 Ford mustang 3.7 l v6. My father and family recommended the garage because it's somewhere they have gotten all of their cars serviced. So I decided to go ahead and let them swap the engine, the first day I got the car back it would shake when attempting to accelerate to a certain degree and received multiple misfire codes (random misfire, and cylinder 1 and 5). I was told that this was impossible because of the new sparks and coils. Drove for the weekend to test it then left my car for another day so that they could figure out what's going on. As I test drove over the weekend, I could not accelerate to any high RPM (3-5) literally had to cruise the whole way. After dropping it off Monday I get a call back stating that the engine is fine despite knowing the cylinders misfire after a certain RPM. I'm basically being told this is a problem that they can't solve. After installing the engine they are also telling me, they will not install a new engine if it is running fine up until a certain rpm. Please do due diligence when considering independent garages for help. I feel like I just got ripped off, almost $5,000 down the drain for engine that can't pass a 3k-5k RPM...**Side note. Before I included my father in the conversation, mechanic was extremely disrespectful noting that this is not a race car and it should not reach higher RPMs in the first place. This car was used for track purposes as well at silver Dollar Motorsport. Quarter mile time 13.6 which is actually faster than a stock RT hemi. Please consider more respectful employment in the future, I could have checked you but I'm professional so I will let them figure it out before going the legal route.Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Auto engine tuning, Engine repair

This review is way over due, BUT. I brought my 2014 Acura mdx in for an engine swap a few months back. After not having my car for months, the good people at Jerry Gowens garage made one of the most dreaded services, smooth and pain free from the moment I request a quote, until the moment I drove off with my baby (acura). These people are friendly, professional, and EFFICIENT! The oooonly thing I recommend is that they make sure to test drive the cars before pick-up. There was a slight issue I faced being notified of a slight problem the day of pick up. It wasn't even bad at all in my opinion, drove great to me. But I would have just had it fixed before I came to pick up the suv. However, the overall experience & work done on the car was nothing short of amazing and far exceeds any minor complaint I had especially how fast they completed the job. Nice people. Fun to be around .Very knowledgeable. Clean business.Great location.And do give you a price before doing any repairs.But prices can be high depending.That's said wherever you go for car repair.In a nutshell, I like the place, service, and people. I just don't like paying the bill.Smile

Good work on my vehicle. I know it was honest work because I took the car to the dealership and was told I need a new motor for $8000. Gowans did inspection and changed battery...car is running great. Good work done at this bisiness

This shop is so quaint. The guys in the shop do a great job and work fast. The prices are fair. An honest family run business. We will definitely be back (hopefully not too soon. LOL)

Had to take my vehicle back there twice for the same problem and was charged on both occasions and the problem was not repaired. I would not be going back there
