Cool dude who does good work for a fair price. Definitely recommend him for all your engine machining needs.Had him skim 2 heads for a Toyota v6. They came back clean and ready to install.

Jim is a master at his work. You can tell right off that every detail is critical to him and it came through for me. This is the very first post I have ever done. But I am so thrilled with the recent build of my engine I had to say something. I bought a car that had a freshly built 454 in it. (NOT A DOVER BUILD) I knew the engine wasn't right so I planned on the rebuild in what I paid for the car. When we tore it down it was messed up in some minor and major ways. 4 rods had been put in backward, all exhaust push rods were bent, enough said about the mess. I had planned to get the machine work done and put it back together myself. The price Jim gave me to do a professional job was to good to pass. When I went to see my rebuilt engine I was blown away. Everything from the paint to the machine work far, far, far exceeded my expectations. The engine looks like it is brand new. There is no question in my mind that I will never even think of talking to another shop. I just wish I could tell more people, if you want it right take it to Dover Cylinder Head.

Jim is GREAT! I called other company's and they were like, I can't give out that info for FREE, Give me a break!Jim walked me thru my questions and answered them AWESOME, I highly recommend Jim and his company. Ferrari Daytona Man!

Jim is very knowledgeable in the machine shop business. I called Jim from a different state to ask him about my bmw n54 engine rebuild and he gave me his honest opinion and valuable information that many people would not tell me. Jim let me ask him multiple questions over the phone without having any engine work done by him. I would like to thank Jim very much for the fast courteous service in helping me to repair my cylinder heads. I was able to drop them off on Friday morning and pick them up on Saturday afternoon. I had them completely rebuilt and they are perfect! Have them bolted on and running great!The service was exceptional and priced very fairly and the man knows his business. I will certainly be back with more project motors in the future. His motto serves him well with "Don't do it over,bring it to Dover."Thanks Big daDDy Dover!!

Total rip off on prices. Needed some heads shaved and cleaned and Jim wanted to charge 420$?!? The last guy I used to go to charged me 120$ for the same work and it was great work as well. If it wasn t for his unfortunate passing then I wouldn t have needed to go anywhere else. I bought heads in good shape for half the price still on top of that. And I was rudely questioned about the work I was planning on doing myself as if there were petty doubts about my know how of the engine I have. Didn t appreciate it at all. And I was quoted almost 2500$ for a port and polish?!? No thanks bud. Keep the heads.

Man I love this place! Jim is the best ! Most knowledgeable guy I've ever met in the Machine Shop business. I would highly recommend anybody needing Automotive Machining work go to Dover Cylinder Head of Orlando for the best price on town.

Regardless of some of the poor reviews here, I chose to use Dover Cylinder Head Services Inc. to machine my flywheel. I recognize what a machine shop is and that customer service, as far as friendliness/talkative goes, is usually not something they're known for. I've been working on cars for many years, and have dealt with several machine shops. Today was the first time I've needed one since moving to Orlando a few years ago. I was very satisfied with Jim's work! I walked in, toward the end of the day, but I had called first, and he immediately got on top of machining my flywheel. I tired to talk to Jim a bit, but he's a man of few words lol However, he was perfectly professional, and even bummed me a smoke. Ha I would highly recommend Dover Cylinder Head Services Inc. to anyone I know. If you're looking for a place that's going to hold your hand, this may not be the place(I can't say that for certain though), but if you know what you need and want it done well, Jim's your man.

Dover Cylinder Head provided an exceptional service and stuck to its original estimate. Jim was nothing, but an honest man who had a great turnaround time. I have a 1973 Corvette 454, which desperately needed its first rebuild. It had low compression, a worn out crank, cam, and heads. Jim provided great advice for after market parts, which has made the car fun to drive while still being dependable as this car is my main means of transportation. I have and would recommend this shop to anyone in need of engine work as they produce reliable and high quality work.

Dover is extremely knowledgeable and fair, and he owns the best cylinder head shop in Central Florida.Been using him now for more than 15 years on the various engines I ve built.It s nice to have an honest and reputable company who stands behind their work so convenient to my location.Doesn t attempt to sell you anything you don t need and gives honest feedback on what he has to work with, and what it will take to get your components to where they need to be.Dover has done work on for me on BBC race heads, SBC heads, SBF race heads, V6 Ford heads, and V6 Toyota heads and many more.All work was exceptional and fairly priced.I ve been building and working on race cars for more than 35 years and have worked in machine shops myself. I have nothing but respect for this company and the unsurpassed integrity by which it operates.You get what you pay for and in all instances Dover advised with his industry expertise as a bonus on top of the superior workmanship.

These people complain because an expert was up-front with them about their "dream projects" or some fabrication project. Nobody goes to a machine shop for good conversation, they go for quality work. If you want to gossip, go to a hair salon. Jim is easily one of most knowledgeable and skilled machinists in Central Florida. If you want top-quality work and an expert's opinion, then Dover is the only machine shop I'd recommend. Been in the same place 30 years, and they build motors to last. I have 5 years 50K on a boosted GSR motor built by Dover, and am building a K-series with them now. Wouldn't trust my investment anywhere else, period.

Loved the place, extra fast service and excellent price. I brought the cylinder head of my 2.2 Sonoma and it was perfectly done in less than a hour! I think all the negative reviews are BS, probably envy in action, cause you can see the owner knows his stuff from a mile away. Thank you!

Never again. They ruined my 5.4 DOHC simply because they can't put camshafts in the right slots. Intake in the exhaust slot on driver's side.Now bent valve new Pistons ruined.CW Pences did my head's the last time I built this engine. They only cost me an Xtra $300 not $several thousand dollars like Dover has.NEVER AGAINService: Engine repairService: Engine repair

Called to get a price on machining a head. Refused to listen to my issue. Basically said he couldn't help me and hung up. I understand their is people out there that does not know what they're talking about. But I am not one of them.

Terrific work! The motor was put together very solid and the advice I received along with the build was specific and correct. I would HIGHLY recommend you send your motor and machine work here. He will work with your timeline and make sure that everything is well within tolerance. My motor has been running for 13 months now and is passed the 5000 mile mark. Compression is solid, no smoke, no misses and no mechanical problems. The balance is excellent and the motor is smooth all the way to red line 7200rpm! I expect this motor to hold under the punishment it gets for at least another 75000 miles!Thank you again.P.S. After reading the comments below, I feel the need to update this one. Jim is a straight forward guy and will tell you how it is. He IS the expert in this field, so trust him. I had delusions of what my little motor was going to be when i first went there. He set me straight and I respect him more for it. No shattered dreams here, only the reality of spectacular build quality and reliable finished products! I left Jim a review the other day because he was very rude to me on the phone after I was just offering FREE...let me say this again FREE tips to improve his website and rankings. My review told the truth...no malice towards him or his business it was the truth...and his response was a lawsuit threat for slander...Under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, as set forth by the U.S. Supreme Court in the 1964 Case, New York Times v Sullivan, where a public figure attempts to bring an action for defamation, the public figure must prove an additional element: That the statement was made with "actual malice". In translation, that means that the person making the statement knew the statement to be false, or issued the statement with reckless disregard as to its truth.......Here is another FREE tip Jim...for being in business for over 20 years with lots of loyal customers...maybe you should ask them to leave you some good reviews to balance out this bad one because its staying....no company in the entire world is 100% liked...if you weren't so rude to me I wouldn't of said anything.

I worked here for Jim prior to leaving for the military, 15 years ago. He taught me alot of what I know today, which helped tremendously overseas in fixing things from vehicles, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. These lessons all stemmed from me being a young man with passion for learning to work on Mustang preformance applications and a desire to achieve high quality results in every project. Jim taught me more in 6 months than many mechanics learn in 15+ years. During my time there, I can say that I never once saw him cheat anyone or act unfairly towards a customer, in fact he helped many of them if asked, and he is a Master of his tradecraft.If I only got his lesson on Chevy, I wouldn't have had to call him Daddy! No job is too big or small. I had a stubborn rusted screw that I had tried every measure to remove and couldn't. Brought it into the shop, he dropped his current project to assist me and had me out the door in no time. It's great that we have places like this in the community to help with little things. It made a big difference so I could move forward in my project! I will be back for all my machine needs!

1st class work. Jim is a straight shooter that will tell you how it is. Some shops will do whatever you ask and take your money. Jim will tell you the truth. He has done a few jobs for me and has always done an excellent job. Everyone I know that has gone here shares the same experience.

My experience was very much down there along with other reviewers who posted the same grade. From the moment I approached the counter and all throughout, the guy was flat out rude. I was there to ask about getting some simple fabrication work done and in a very grandstanding fashion, the guy engages in a shrewd and contrived interrogation process with reckless abandon. After an appalling combination of incoherent questions and condescending rhetoric, he refuses service because he believed "it's just not gonna work". C'mon, it's like I didn't do extensive research beforehand. This place has been around many years and so who died and left that clown in charge?
