We loved the location, choice between 2 restaurants for breakfast. The bed and pillows were comfortable. What would have made our stay better, a working ice machine, a pull cord on the overhead fan as the room was rather stuffy as we used the floor fan in addition. The bathroom grout desperately needs to be redone, black looking mold was a turn off.You can't beat the location though.

We will never stay there again. We stayed in the lantana. Very dirty! Mold in the fridge. Very rusty fridge door. Mold on the ceiling by all the vents. Every time we would leave there would be staff from the lime bistro sitting on our steps taking a break. Don t bring your small kidos the spindles on the porch are broken. It s a second floor unit. A child or a pet can easily fall through. The owner pretty much owns all the restaurants next to us. She decided to show up and rock the enter neighborhood past restaurant closing hours 10pm. She party till after midnight. There is a noise ordinance at 10pm. We had plans very early the next day.The people that stayed down stairs said there baby s were kept waking up I did not actually fall asleep till after midnight. I felt very bad for them. They had problems with the septic tank while we were there and were told they would leave the office door across the street open if we needed to use the bathroom. The drain in our bathroom is clogged I had to brush my teeth in the kitchen sink. The place very much needs updated. I m sorry but we did have a horrible experience. The paint is great and cute. The lantana room is a fabulous location. They really do need to make the place more accommodating for guests though. It s a great concept but needs lots more love!!

Great place for a beach getaway. We stayed at #12 (Loveshack). It is small but was perfect for us. It has a good size refrigerator inside and a nice patio-next time we'll bring our portable grill! It is also situated at the very back of the drive so we didn't smell the restaurants and barely heard the music. The bed was comfy, the AC great. The Inn provides umbrellas and beach chairs free! And the included breakfasts were fantastic! Truly a full breakfast. Don't bother going to Starbucks up the road as the coffee at R.C. Otter's was actually better to my surprise. Staff was very nice as well at the Inn and at the restaurants. Will definitely go again. The beach is so nice and very close.

It s gone downhill in the last few years... kinda sad. Last time I stayed in the love shack. Noisy fan, no bathroom light without it so had to unplug a floor lamp and take into the bathroom. North window in room hasn t been cleaned forever. Lots of cobwebs, dust dead insects. I like that it s at the end and very secluded. Housekeeping is nice but not thorough. Started staying here 9 years ago but have chose other places on the island since my last bad experience. They do have great breakfast that is complimentary, however. Location is amazing. Right between the bay and the ocean and can t beat the access to 6 restaurants within walking distance along with ice cream shop and tiny grocery store.

Location is what keeps people coming back (all the best restaurants are walkable) We had the Gardenia Suite which faced the street. Two bedrooms with a queen 7/10 comfort & a king 8/10 comfort. Definitely needs some TLC. Beachy cottage vibe. Guests mistook our unit for the office with 4 walk-ins as the sign above our door was larger then the one across the street at the office. Get ice at restaurant next door. Small private pool was TOO warm to be refreshing, but had nice loungers. The patio had biting nats at sunset (bring spray). Umbrellas & chairs at YOLO on your way to walk to the beach (very reasonable). Free breakfast for the 4 of us =$50/day savings. Coffee maker, microwave and medium size refrigerator. AC worked well. Hot water and large shower. Housekeeper stopped and gathered garbage and exchanged linens daily. Patio landscaping (or lack of) made for continuous dirty feet (and looked really bad). The walk along the street to the beach was beautifully landscaped and shaded.

Stayed in the Sunflower Cottage. Overall, clean and cozy. Perfect for two people. Plenty of fresh towels and the room was nice and cold. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Great distance from the beach/restaurants/rental items. I docked one star because our cottage was right behind a restaurant dumpster. You couldn't see it but every time you walked outside you were smacked in the face with the smell. Despite that, I would definitely stay here again, the price is great!

We arrived late afternoon dropped suitcases off and went to dinner. When we came back to sleep found black mold up glass shower wall. Dirt/sand in the corners of bathroom. Fixtures falling off wall. No curtains on any of windows just the rods. Again mold all along window sill in bedroom, dust on all picture frames as well as a roach dead in a frame. The kitchen microwave was rusted all over the door and not clean. The areas on each side of fridge had Dirt and dirty rags. Bed was old and broke down. No grill, the hammock was dry rotted no way to use it. The furnishings need to be updated. We did receive a full refund however my calls were not returned i had to go to office to get my refund. THe inside of the Hibiscus cottage needs to be replaced or throughly cleaned.

We had the Gardenia room. 2 bedrooms. Bathroom had a large walk-in shower. I would recommend getting a room facing the street. Lots of them are in the back and no real ambiance at least from the outside. Great "hotspot". Be careful of ordering mimosas next door. VERY expensive. Food was delicious though.

This review is primarily based on condition and cleanliness. The staff is friendly enough and helpful and the location is great. The buildings and grounds are very cute Key West cottage style. The room rates include a full menu breakfast at one of the two adjacent restaurants for each occupant for each morning. Both restaurants are very good. This is something to consider when weighing your options. The room smelled clean when we first walked in, which was comforting, considering there's a "pandemic" going on. The usable surfaces appeared to be clean. But it seemed as though there had never been a deep clean or even a thorough dusting performed. That's not an exaggeration, it looked like it had never been done. There was dust on the walls... The walls! A lot of it. And not just behind the furniture or in the corners. Middle of the wall, eye level. There was dust everywhere except on the usable surfaces (vanity top, dresser tops, etc.).The restroom accessories - even the vanity light - had all been painted brown in what was apparently a sad attempt to make them look like wood. Needless to say, the paint was scratching off.The bed was horrible. We had booked three nights and could not have spent another night in that bed. I'm a very thin guy and when I laid down, I sunk about 4" into the mattress. There were ramshackle patches all around the shower where water damage had been "repaired". There were exposed wires and exposed electrical connections. The smoke detector had been removed. There is no pool. There is a pool, but it's been closed by the Health Department. Not sure if that's because of covid or because it's a residential style pool serving a commercial facility. Our cottage was tucked way back underneath a couple of huge trees that dropped a lot of junk. Gooey junk that sticks to your shoes and gets tracked into your room (imagine small figs). When we checked in the mess was already there and I kept expecting that one morning we'd hear a blower running and someone would be out there cleaning it up, but it didn't happen until the morning we left. It's a simple matter of routine maintenance to run a blower a couple of times in between the weekly visits from the grounds crew, but apparently that's on the same to do list as the thorough dusting of the rooms. If the rest of the units look like ours, they need to invest a couple hundred thousand dollars in skilled trades to get them into shape and they need to replace the mattresses. All in all, if you wanna stay on Captiva for cheap, this is the place. But you do get what you pay for.

Stayed in the penthouse suite...for having a cleaning crew the place was not really that clean....the blinds were loaded with dust, the laundry room was very dirty, garbage bag was never taken out from previous renter, overall it looks like they just sweep and barely wipe the place down. The back balcony looks like it is never cleaned including the deck. The suite is very roomy and a great location, but it is getting very run down and worn out.

We will be back for sure! LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! Cute, casual cottages and very reasonably priced! I will be back for sure! I want to come here every year! Breakfast was included which was great value. It would ve cost us $30-40 to buy it. The food at the restaurants is great as well. Key Lime Bistro is one of my favorite restaurants of all time! We were very comfortable and had a great time. This is the best place in Captiva to stay being close to the beach and great restaurants. A place to rent bicycles is right down the street so you can go without a car. Everything you could need is close and walkable. LOVE this place and will be back!!!

If I could give this place more than 5 stars i would. The staff is extremely friendly and courteous. They made us feel welcomed since our first day and anything we needed they were there to please. Connolly is so nice. He made us feel like family and Sarah is super sweet. The staff at the restaurant next door The Key lime Bistro is very friendly and the food is great. If you ever have a chance to stay there do not hesitate.Kim Bainger From Miami

Captiva Island Inn was pretty much a perfect stay. The location is absolutely prime !! The vibes are a beachy cottage feel. We usually stay in the resort when we are visiting the Island, but with the kids we wanted to try something different. Something with a more homey, beachy, family house kind of feel. So I found this gem ! We stayed in the Gardenia Cottage and received daily breakfast vouchers for 2 restaurants across the street. When we arrived, we just parked and were pretty much steps from the beach. We did rent a gulfcart to ride around the Island and watch the sunset at different locations. We will definitely be back. I am actually very impressed, and to top it all off: The staff is very sweet. Absolute gem ! and absolutely a win !The stay was comfortable with 2 adults and 2 kids: Kids ages: Almost 3 year old and almost 1 year old.The Gardenia was a perfect size for the jogging stroller we brought along with our beach buggie. We did also have an outdoor patio area that made a world of difference. It was also perfect for relaxing and listening to live music which they play next door in the evenings.Enjoy and Happy Travels !

If you're only looking for location and don't mind paying for it - it's pretty good. But we were very disappointed with the Jasmine cottage. Other rooms may be better but this cottage didn't have anywhere to hang clothes except for one single hook on the back of the shower door. It also didn't have a table on either side of the bed - and no room for one, either. The property could use some cleaning (inside and out). Musty smell throughout... For the high price we'd never go back.

We had an issue with the air condition and we decided to leave early. Management on site explain to us the next morning that it was probably a blown fuse in the AC unit and they would fix it the following day. They offered to refund us the last day and we received the refund the next day. Overall it was a good experience and the location is ideal for a good time at Captiva Island. We'll try it again soon.

The cottage we originally booked (Birds of Paradise) was cute but not properly cleaned. There was a sticky dried out puddle of red juice inside the refrigerator (I tried to clean it) and more red stains on top. The tray of wine glasses had puddles of green (dish soap?) liquid all around the tops of the inverted glasses. One of the selling features of this room was the private outside patio but we wouldn't have been able to sit on the plastic chairs. They were absolutely filthy and looked like they hadn't been cleaned or even hosed down for months. I asked at the office to have someone clean the room but it was a Sunday and I guess no one was available so the very nice gentleman in the office "upgraded" us to the Gardenia suite across the street. It was a series of dark tiny rooms and tried to be shabby chic but failed miserably. The sofa looked dirty, I didn't sit on it. A nice clean throw cover would do wonders. On an up note, the linens were crisp and white and towels were soft and fluffy. I had been wearing sandals and walking all day and don't like getting into bed with dirty feet so I took a shower including washing my feet. I then walked from the bathroom to the kitchen to plug in my cell phone and then to bed. I looked at my feet before climbing into bed and they were dirtier than before I showered. The floors have apparently not been mopped since the last time they cleaned the patio chairs. I really liked the convenient location of this inn and might even stay there again but would plan to bring my own cleaning supplies along.

Ok....pictures of the inn on the website have to be 20 years old! We were in the periwinkle loft. Hot/humid/musty. No tv or internet. Had to clean the bathroom! The AC is a wall unit blowing into a wall! The loft had no air circulation. Garth was wonderful but could only do so much. He brought a fan from across the street and put it in the loft...a fan you use in your garage! Nothing short of a jet engine taking off! The floor in one room if you were barefoot you'd get splinters! Yes good location...but there are just too many other decent options on this island!!!!

These beautiful awesome cottages surpassed our expectations. My sister and I have stayed in many of them. Great restaurants in walking distance and only 360 steps to the beach. Looking forward to our next visit

My family and I have been coming to the Inn for the past 6 years and have already booked it for next year. OLD FLORIDA...excellent location and the staff is very accommodating. Jason is the perfect fit for the Island Inn. Walking distance to everything. Plenty of room for the family and I love the full kitchen. We actually cook out more than go out to dinner. We will continue to make special family memories here year after year. Keep up the good work!

Dirt and very much in need of some TLC. Also parking is very difficult. Only added one photo, too many to take but you get the idea. This would be a really cozy place if they would put a little money into it and teach housekeeping how to clean a bathroom. The pic is of a huge burn mark on the nightstand. A 99 cent of spray paint would fix that.

Always love staying here. The rooms are quaint and clean, RC Otter's and the Key Lime Bistro are right next door, the general store is close and the Bubble Room is right around the corner. A short walk to the beach rounds out the perfect "everything you need in one place" experience.

Absolutely wonderful I'm in the Daisy Cottage spotless. Can you get breakfast every morning at RC otters or at Key Lime Bistro. Angie from RC otters made me feel right at home great service. And I was greeted by a woman named Donna at the front desk she was so helpful in kind I will definitely be back. Just a hop skip and a jump to the beach

Hibiscus cottage was nice INSIDE BUT HORRIBLE DEAD FISH SMELL OUTSIDE. Found garbage in kitchen drawer and a hard boiled egg. Yuck. Housekeeping really did not even look. Otherwise it was good. Will ask for a room across the street in their other cottages where outdoor seating is nice and peaceful. Pool was so nice after long walks on beach to soothe ache muscles.

Great breakfast included. Older cottages need some cosmetic attention. Housecleaning was spotty. Relatively inexpensive though. Short walk to the beach and the Bubble Room restaurant. Key Lime Bistro. Mucky Duck, and other restaurants nearby as well.

This place could use some love and a deep clean. The closet in our room is huge, but there are gaps around the built in A.C. unit so we can see daylight. Floor needs scraping and new paint. Comfy bed. Bath is small and need fresh grout.

I would never stay at this place again. It is a very rundown place badly in need of all kinds of repairs and maintenance. It is a disgrace to the Captiva community.Although not their fault, it was annoyingly noisy as the building next to our room was being remodeled. The contractor was using a high pitched saw which did not facilitate relaxing or peace and quiet.

My husband & I went for our wedding anniversary. We booked the honeymoon suite for September and since it was off season it only cost $99 a night. That's the only reason I gave 2 stars. The staff upon arrival were very un enthused and dull we weren't greeted with even a small smile. We paid and was shown where our room was and that was it.. this room is bigger than most apartments and fully loaded. It's beautiful when things actually work. The DVD, surround sound, ceiling fan, kitchen lights , freezer, tiles around the fireplace fell off, bathroom light blew out, the huge shower had a single nozzle that barely sprayed water out. We had to unscrew the shower nozzle and get water directly from the wall to have any water pressure. You are right on a beach were showers and water pressure are needed and there was non. We had no idea about the FREE tram that takes you from the bed and breakfast until we were there for 3 days. We were never told about the horrible noseeums problem on the island. Our first night we got tore up from the bugs and had to retreat back to our room and stay there until morning. I ended up with 53 bites the first night there. My only compliment was the free breakfast and wonderful server we had angie. The night sky is beautiful on captivate but bring your bug spray. Also bring your own food the closest store is 35-40mins away. The island market was a joke. This is a high priced place with no care for maintenance and customer service.

Stayed in the Love Shack. Loved everything about our cottage! So cute and clean. Fully stocked with plenty of towels, pillows, soap, shampoo, tp, and even an extra blanket in the cabinet in the bathtoom. The guy at the office was super friendly and helpful. Loved this inn, this island, and all of the people there! Would recommend to anyone. Definitely something you should experience at least once. Parking is a little hard to find but they do have a Jeep that'll ride you for free around to the restaurants after 5pm so you don't lose your parking spot. You do have to fill your ice bucket from one of the restaurants right by the inn which may be an inconvenience for some people but wasn't for me. I really enjoyed my stay.

This place was so perfect! It was a gorgeous example of "Old Florida" with all the charm and character you would expect. if you are looking for shiny and new, try a standard issue resort, if you want to relax and enjoy, go to the Inn. My husband and I went for our honeymoon and it was delightful. We enjoyed the breezes every night with our windows open, no one has screens on their windows there and there were no bugs. It is in the heart of Captiva so we were able to walk everywhere. The restaurants there tend to have pretty heavy food, so being able to grill and cook ourselves was perfect. We were about a block and a half away from a sunset on the beach every night. I loved this place and we will go back every year for our anniversary.

Variety of rooms, suites, and cottages available. We stayed in Rosebud, a quiet, quirky suite. The suite contains almost everything you need for a few days stay. The only thing we missed was a coffeepot! A full breakfast at either of two nearby restaurants was included. We ate at RC Otters and both of us enjoyed our breakfasts. It would have cost $26+ had it not been included.
