I ve been going to Gunn for over a decade. I ve probably brought them hundreds of sets of cylinder heads and have always had a pleasant experience with Kenny and TJ. Their staff is also friendly and very helpful. Turn around times are quick and better than most shops. Their work is also top notch. They ll always have my business as long as they are there!! Thank you all!

Brought my Subaru heads in to get rebuilt and am very happy with the results! Kenny was very up-front about the costs, and informed me about the lead time to get it done. When I went to pick them up, he spent a good 15 minutes going over exactly what he did and explained exactly why he did them. The heads both look great now, and I'm confident that they're going to work perfectly! My dad has brought several engines here over the years and has always been happy with the results. The best part is that I don't feel like I'm getting ripped off or anything... Kenny was very helpful and honest through the whole process and explained everything to me. I think the 5-6 week lead time at this shop speaks for itself as to the quality of their work! This shop gets an A+ in my book!

Had the heads on my Chevy cleaned out, resurfaced and completely gone through and I couldn't be more satisfied!! From start to finish they were up front with what the work entailed, what it was going to cost, and what I needed to do afterwards. I left with no question unanswered and most importantly leaving with exactly what I asked for. A day earlier they said it'd be done I should add!!! Attention to detail couldn't be better. Will be back!Services: Engine repair, Vehicle maintenance

Had them resurface Subaru heads, quality work and a fair price. I could not help but notice how clean and well organized the overall shop was. Helped me unload and load the parts. Definitely my go-to shop for machine work.

Got a 1.8 motor from a 94 Miata machined out here. Everything was freshened up with forged internals. They built the head and left the block to my self to build. It's been running great over 1000 miles now. Bit more on the expensive side but quality work and super friendly knowledgeable people here. I left my oil galley plugs in then removed them after the machine work. It was clean inside. They properly flushed and cleaned everything after the work was done. I do recommend this place for removing metal.

Great work! I was able to interact with Kenny throughout the entire process. I was upfront about not knowing much about the rebuilding and repair process. From the first phone call to the last, not once did I feel pressured, or taken advantage of. They rebuilt one of the heads on my 02' Bonneville. Thanks again! Everything sealed perfectly, and the car is running great!!!!

I brought my 93 Honda D-15 block in for work last year and could not be happier. This is one of the only shops in town that can do an engine his small and this well. After a few minor top end mods this engine Rips! We will be back for the next mod on another D-15 we have, going all out on the next one. We will be back- excellent work K!!Service: Engine repair

Have used these guys twice to rebuild heads on my Subaru. Both cars have been running well for over 8 yrs since. Just dropped off a 1966 Pontiac block and they were super helpful in explaining what to do to get it back on the road.

Don't bring a honda block here. if I was building a domestic, I would maybe debate using them again, but never for a Japanese block. said they knew about hondas and could take care of my block. Told them I wanted to make sure it was a solid block before buying internals. They said it was good to go before decking or test honing it, just a jet wash. I received a call 2 weeks later after parts were bought and delivered to the shop, that the block was cracked in multiple spots and had a wall separating. which would have been obvious after the jetwash, and before I bought the parts.

I was referred here by a buddy of mine and he was not wrong. They are the best in customer service and prices. Even with my job, I needed done. They said it was going to take an hour or two and they surprised me in an hour later. I will go back for more work done.

TJ and Kenny are awesome. Never had a machine shop offer same day service before. Rates were very fair. Love the old school feel of the place and best of all they did a great job. Highly recommended. Will use them many more times.

Has most everything available the same day. I do recommend calling ahead to verify and to also get the prices. You will want to pay cash as they charge a 4% credit card convenience fee. Overall good customer service, parts available and machine work.

I use this guys several times a week. They resurface Subaru heads while you wait! No one else does that. And the customer service is great. Also not something you can say about most machine shops. Great source of information and advice.

Took in my 454 big block to be worked on. Once there we talked about what was needed to be done as well as a set price for the work. Got a call that it was done. Went in and got ripped off. Work was done to it that was never supposed to be done. Not o let that the price went up another $400 which is outrageous. Claims to remember the work you wanted to be done but doesn t even remember who you are when you walk in! Once I confronted him about it he got all jittery and nervous started stumbling over his words. Save yourself the hassel and do not get work done here! TJ is not a trustworthy owner he s a thief! Highly disappointed in the service! Total rip off!

Excellent machine shop. The shop is very clean and organized which is a giveaway for how a machinist treats his craft. TJ was very knowledgeable and answered my fishing questions in ways that convinced me to use his services. He didn't try to up-sell me on anything unnecessary but recommended the appropriate services for what I was looking to do with the engine. The work was completed within the promised time, the work mic'd out within spec, and the parts came back clean enough to eat off. The prices were extremely reasonable for the services performed.I have to comment on the negative review about a 383 stroker. This review is baloney. There's no way a machinist would grind through a 350 sbc water jacket while clearancing rod bolts for a 3.75" stroke. The jackets in that area are thick (about 1/2"), and clearancing for a proper 383 stroker crank and I-beam rod combo only requires taking off .125" at most and usually only .06" or less with cap-screw rods. A hack machinist wouldn't spend the labor sitting there grinding through 1/2" of cast iron. If the machinist at Gunn did in fact hit a water jacket, then the block had a faulty air pocket in the casting, and I'm sure the machinist would have insisted the reviewer have the hole welded up. But I doubt anything in that review is factual. Where are the photos of this hole and the water-oil? Not uploaded to Gunn's Google page for some mysterious reason. The reviewer says the hole in the water jacket was 1/4" diameter. If that were true, the radiator and block would have emptied every ounce of coolant into the oil pan within two minutes of the engine running at 2,000 rpm. That additional 2 gallons of coolant in the engine would have drown the crank and had foamy oil-water puking out of the breathers, carb, exhaust, etc. During the 18 minutes of 2,000 rpm cam break-in that the crankcase was full of coolant, the engine temp would have quickly climbed to 270 plus and coupled with water running through the oil pump, bearings, lifters, valves, etc. seized. But the reviewer claims he ran the engine for the 20-minute cam break-in, didn't say anything about overheating, and only then found water in the oil after shutting off the engine? Then he tore down the engine and found no issues aside from the hole? Baloney. The crank journals would have been blue and every bearing fried.

You spark eroded a busted head stud from a block for me and was unsuccessful. I was told there was nothing more that could be done. I then supplied another unknown condition block which was machined. Turned out the head bolt holes were already stipped and some how that made it past scrutiny. Which I didn't find until assembly. I also asked for a main bearing line hone which was not done and became obvious when the crank was installed.. now I have a very expensive shinny piece of paper weight. I then found a shop that could finish the job on the original block. Poor attention to detail. I may be a rookie but thats why I paid "Professionals"

Took a gunked up warped cylinder head to them to get clean and decked. When I arrived, I mention what I had and said I wanted it cleaned and milled. They came out and looked at it and said it was a head that was prone to cracking. They called me a couple hours later saying it had been machined and that it was ready. When I went to pick it up, they had forgotten the cleaning part and had only milled it. I took the head to another shop to get cleaned, after which they found it was cracked. Upon calling Gunn to ask for a refund, they refused and said it was my fault for not telling them to clean it. If you saw this cylinder head, you would be stupid for not having the shop clean it before machining it, let alone allowing you machinist put this through a machine. I don't know if it was a miscommunication or what, but their service recommendations are terrible and I wouldn't trust them with any more service. Just glad I took it to another place to have checked before I reinstalled it.
