I was referred to Ken s by my regular mechanic (Brad s Automotive - ALSO excellent!) for a transmission leak. Since I have a Subaru, Ken referred me to Subaru and Moore, just up the road. But the day I was scheduled to drop off my car was a day my brain decided not to show up, and I left my car at Ken s and didn t remember until 0.2 seconds after I dropped my keys in the lockbox. The next day I called Ken s to apologize and they volunteered to take it over to Subaru and Moore for me. To take time out of their busy day for someone who wasn t even a customer really says a lot about their professionalism and business model, and I am incredibly grateful for their kindness.

Ken s was fantastic! They got my husbands truck in two weeks for a clutch replacement and had it done in two days! They were fair priced and worked with us to drop off the truck and pick it up. Now my husband is very picky on who works on his truck and he loves the work that they did and if we have any other issues with our other vehicles transmission wise we will definitely be using Ken s in the future!

Ken's Transmission was great. They towed my vehicle 22 miles into town & did a great job fixing the transfer case even helped me out with different ways of paying. A warranty for mileage and time. Great group!!

My partner & I were on an 18 day tour of colorado & we started having transmission problems near BV. It's a small town, so understandably every auto shop is booked to the gills. We called Ken to see if he could fit us in. As expexted, he was 6+ weeks out. We asked if he would at least run a diagnostic test for us so we can make the decision wether or not we should have our rig towed or not. Even though he was EXREMELY busy, he fit us in to check things out. We were able to diagnose the issue & we were on our way in a matter of 20 min!He didn't even ask for money, we were so grateful for his kindness so we gave him 50 bucks for his time & effort. That says alot about his integrity, he's the only transmission shop in town; he had every right to charge us whatever he wanted & we would have paid it. Instead, he treated us with kindness & helped us out of the goodness of his heart. I couldn't recommend Kens Transmission service enough. We are from a different state and had transmission failure and noother shop had time to get us back on the road. Loren was our Blessing in disguise. I would highly recommend.

Words are insufficient to express fully how exceptional of an experience I had with the guys at Ken's Transmission. Ken, Loren, and Levi did extraordinary work to rebuild the transmission on my 2006 Chevy Express cargo van. She runs as smooth as warm butter now! Loren in particular went above and beyond to not only take care of my van, but to show upfront honesty and care. He showed me photos of his findings in the van, and then physically showed me the worn-out parts in person. He is extremely kind and helpful, and it's apparent these guys care a lot. The fact that they work so cohesively as a family speaks volumes to their ability to care for their customers like family. I can't recommend them enough!Service: Transmission

We were having issues with the transmission in one our work trucks,thought we needed a new one. These guys found the problem and fixed it for under $300. Saved me a ton of $$$! Not only that, I got a call from them about a week later to see if the transmission was doing ok. 6 months later and it s still running perfect. These guys are the best!

I was coming out of Lake City, Co, heading back to Ft. Riley, Ks and while engine braking down a long pass my 2008 266K mile Ram 3/4tn transmission went into free fall. I googled shops in Buena Vista as that was the closest civilization on our way. The first shop didn't want anything to do with us, Ken's, even though he was 5 minutes from closing talked me out of the hills, gave me an estimate for a rebuild and install and offered to take a look at it when we got to town just to make sure. We found his shop, he came out to meet us, got a little more history and hooked his scanner up. Confirmed what we believed and discussed options. Considering he would have to order the transmission and My family and I needed to keep moving to get back, we decided to clear codes to take it out of limp mode and keep rolling. I asked him how much he needed for all the time and assistance he'd given us and he just said, "whatever I thought was fair." He did all this after he should have been closed hours ago, his patience and professionalism reflected great credit upon his shop. He is a fair and compassionate man, he'd definitely get my business if we were in the area. 10/10 recommend!

Used these guys for years in our auto repair business. They were always fair. Recently their inhouse quality has gone way down hill. Missing u joint bolts, exhaust bold and a broken oil pressure sending unit after a transmission rebuild. Transmission failed after two weeks, had to pay a 300 tow bill for their mistake. Oil pressure sending unit was broken off after the second go around. Denied this could happen. Never called back to discuss. Good guys but they really need to slow down and quality check when complete.Service: Transmission

These guys were fast and the quote i got was exactly what the price was... No money up front ,had my astro van towed there and a week later it was done and ran like a top. They even helped solve my brake issue at no extra cost through an awesome diagnosis that had plagued me for months. I would definitely trust this shop with any vehicle in own.Service: Transmission

I am 80 and my wife is disabled. It's hard for us to access a lot of "normal " everyday things people take for granted. I've used the excellent service of Ken's Transmission for my vehicles. You will never have a better experience than you will have with Ken's. I cannot start to tell you what a blessing it is to have them here in Buena Vista. Loren is one of the most decent men I have ever met. I live 20 miles out of town and on one occasion when I could not get a ride, he drove me home and would not let me pay him for that. Absolutely AVOID at all costs.I had my NV4500 transmission 5th gear repaired by this shop. 2 months later my entire transmission blew and left me stranded on the highway in Utah. The other shop said there was no transmission fluid in the case.I called Lauren, they offer NO warranty on their work, then hung up on me.Obviously they don't believe in their own work.A new transmission is going to cost me $3000 plus labor.DO NOT support this business.

Ken's Transmissions does not believe in their own work. I had a transmission repaired by them that left me stranded 2 months later.They will hang up the phone on you when asked if they would warranty their own work.

Transmission went out on our vacation in the mountains. This shop went above and beyond helping some out-of-towners by squeezing us into their booked schedule and getting the transmission rebuilt by the time we needed to leave. They take pride in their work and are very knowledgeable. Transmission feels great now and we made it the 800 miles back home. Thanks again guys!Service: Transmission

Great service. Had a transmission with hard shifting as well as what I thought, a transfer case seal going bad. They recommended to service the transmission and during that, found an issue that was easily fixed. They also looked at the transfer case seal and found it to be fine and did not recommend to replace it. I have found them easy to work with and honest! Will recommend them and will go back again as needed.

I had my transmission rebuilt by these guys and they did great. It was done in June 2017 and I ve had no problems(knock on wood). They stayed within price and being my live-in motorhome, they finished quick and had me back on the road in one day-took 3 because closed on the weekend and I couldn t make it back before they closed at noon- but I was back in it with some advice for driving the Colorado mountains from guys who know what they are talking about. I don t remember the guys name I spoke to but I m glad I did business with him and this location. Thank y all. Much appreciated and trusted.

Great guys to have work on your rig. Had a broken CV joint and was leaving in two days for home. They jumped right on it and have VERY reasonable prices for expedited work. Can't recommend these guys more! If needed, GO SEE THEM FIRST!!! Thanks again for the quick and friendly help!!

We had to have the transmission replaced on our Ford edge. They quoted us a price and that is what we paid. They were very professional to work with and we also have a warranty on the transmission. We would highly recommend them for work on any vehicle.

If I could give half a star I would. Unfriendly and rude, not willing to work around unfortunate circumstances. Was demanding I got the van to them the next morning after letting me know at 4pm the previous day, when I told them I could not get the van to them until noon because I had a friend coming in town to unload our gear to continue our vacation that morning, Ken became infuriated and told me to go elsewhere, so I happily did. If you have car troubles in Buena Vista go to Buena Vista Automotive or if you can make it to Salida. The Town and Country Ford dealership in Salida got us up and going in a matter of days at a great price.

Three generations of technicians. That alone is worth the time and money. Less than an hour for an auto transmission and transfer case drain and refill.
