This place is Godsend for all hybrid owners! Mohammed is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to these high maintenance vehicles. I had my head gasket on my Lexus CT replaced by another shop back in 2019 and unfortunately they did a bad job resulting in it happening again. Mohammed has been very honest and upfront from Day 1. He replaced my entire engine for less than my gasket job & my vehicle was ready in 3 business days! These guys are amazing!

10/10 The Best Prius Mechanics in the City Of San Diego. 100% recommend. Friendly, Fast and Honest. They aren't like other Mechanic shops that guess what's wrong or lie for more $. I'm very pleased with the service. Mohamed was able to diagnose the likely cause over the phone and it was exactly as he stated, and in the time frame and price he quoted as well. He explained the problem fully so I knew what was happening and the car is working great again. I felt very comfortable with this business. From the initial phone call. I noticed the owner knew a lot about the Prius. After meeting these guys I was confident this was the right place to have my car repaired. Very polite, Fast, quality work and the price was exactly as quoted! This shop has high standards and does quality work. They are Professional, trustworthy and honest. The care, compassion, and just willingness to engage with me on my level by both the owner (MO) and his Mechanics were exceptional. My Toyota Prius broke down (smoking and engine trouble) 100 miles away from home in Orange County. So, I went on the recommendation of a good friend who lives in La Mesa to get my car down to San Diego (towed it on a dolly) and bring it to HMB Autotrade & Repair. He quickly put a low millage Engine in my car 2 months ago and it has been running perfect ever since. Nobody can beat his price either. I won't ever take my Prius anywhere else. HMB Autotrade & Repair. Mo in particular is always so honest and helpful when I have a problem with my car. I will start bringing all our vehicles in for service. Thank you, guys, for giving excellent customer service!

I brought my Prius in and Mo and his technician were able to diagnose the issue and pinpoint what the problem was. My commuter car has 200k miles so naturally some original parts need replacement as they start to wear down. They were able to fix the car and it was ready the same day. These guys are trustworthy, reliable and affordable which is what you want in a mechanic. These 2 mechanics are THE BEST in San Diego. I was trying to fix my hybrid battery for 3 weeks before finding them. I wish I had called them initially rather than going to another mechanic AND the dealership. The prices are amazing and they do great professional work. They were also very gracious. I couldn't pick up the car for a full week and they were very understanding and did not charge me an extra fee. AMAZING. I will keep coming back Expert Hybrid Automotive to service my 2011 Toyota Prius and any other hybrid I end up getting. They are AMAZING.Service: Battery

I got a P0A080 code to replace the hybrid pack on my 2012 Prius. I was quoted over $3600 to replace it at the dealership and luckily I came across Hmb. What?!? A great experience at an auto repair shop??! YES! They are professional, fast, respectful, friendly, honest, very accommodating, excellent work, clean, communicative, and fair. They repaired a complex issue with the electronic cluster, performed necessary maintenance, and all done with excellent attitudes!I will definitely be promoting them to my friends with hybrid cars. I m glad I brought my Prius C to Expert Hybrid Automotive! Had my car in another shop and they told me they ran a diagnostic and the hybrid battery needed to be replaced. When I brought my car here; I saved over 2,000 from something my car didn t need. HONEST GREAT SERVICE. No need to go anywhere else.

If you re looking for a TRUSTWORTHY repair shop that specializes in hybrid vehicles don t look any further! Mo & his brother are the best and follow through on their promise of exceptional customer service. I had fluid leaking into the head gasket on my 2013 Prius. Toyota wanted to charge me almost $5000 to repair only the head gasket issue. After my husband spoke with Mo, we towed my vehicle directly from Toyota to HMB, and got a completely new engine and had my battery fan cleaned for less than half what Toyota was charging for only the head gasket. I had my car back on the road in 2.5 days. I currently have 1200 miles on my new engine and have had no problems. I wish we would have found them sooner, we wouldn t have wasted time and money on computer diagnostics at Toyota. We ll be having all future oil changes and other services done here. On top of the great customer service, they re just good honest people. Thank you Mo & the HMB team!

I found their ad on Craigslist. After reading the reviews I contacted Mo, he gave me a great quote. I took my 2011 Prius for a head gasket replacement and I met Mo s brother Habib. They were both very friendly and professional. Just by talking to them they put my mind at ease and knew my car was in good hands. I highly recommend their services to anyone who needs a head gasket/engine work or any other service.Service: Engine repair

Good and honest guy he answered all the questions I asked and a hard worker he got the hybrid battery done fast for my Lexus ct200h. I would recommend him to who ever needs a replacement hybrid battery. . Look in to this guy if you need help looking for a hybrid battery he will explain and give you options for your vehicle

Wow! This was such an awesome service!!!!Mo his brother, and his team, made sure my Toyota Prius was back on the road. I bought a car 21 days ago form a private seller who knowingly sold me a faulty car. My engine was welded together, missing bolts, overheated with a bad water pump and a blown gasket. After taking my car to 3 different dealers, to include Toyota of Escondido, who quoted me over $5500, I found HMB hybrid on a craigslist advertisement. It sent a message, and they quickly replied back with a list of possible solutions. In less than 24 hours they told me I could bring my car in quoted me a reasonable price. What they did for me was beyond reasonable , especially in these unprecedented times. They were not after my money but putting me back on the road again in a dependable vehicle. I recieved a totalengine replacement a with a less than 48 turnaround after having dropped my vehicle off. When I left Mo told me I just wanted to show you that there are good people in the world. I am so grateful I stumbled across Mo and his brother at HMB Auto Repair. My head gasket had blown and Toyota wanted to charge me over $5k to replace it. I have a 2010 Prius, so there was no way I could justify spending $5k. Mo and his team at HMB auto repair were able to replace my whole engine for less than half of that price! On top of that they are incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to Toyota s and Prius s. Mo went above and beyond to gain my trust and checked in with me while my car was being worked on. He also checked in with me a week after the engine had been replaced to make sure the car was running well and there were no issues. If anything else on my Prius ever needs to be worked on, I would go back to them in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!

My Prius engine went and I found this shop on Google.They specialize in Prius and gave me a newly rebuilt engine for a fraction of the dealer cost! Mo told me he could replace the head gasket for a little less but I was better off doing the engine for a little more. He was right. My car is running great. He will do all of my work from now on.Service: Engine repair

The owner cares about his customers because I had a small issue with starter on my 2013 Toyota Tacoma and he replaced it and gave me a great deal with repair in a few hours. I recommend this place for Toyota repair needs because the owner was honest and straight forward with me about what the issue was. I would let my wife or sister who have no knowledge about car repairs because the owner was straight forward with me. I will bring my here from now on. Customer for life!

Finally, a Hybrid Repair that is fair and reasonable. I have searched all over San Diego, and everyone else charges high prices. These Expert Hybrid Automotive folks are very helpful, knowledgeable and nice. They will help you with any Hybrid concerns you may have. Mo saved our 2010 Prius! We had 5 error codes which basically came down to the head gasket and water pump, egr, etc. For us it made the most sense to replace the engine with a low mileage engine as opposed to replacing and resurfacing the head gasket (our car has 225K miles-we are the only owners). Mo replaced our engine and water pump and also performed a few other little things we asked him to do, we had the car back in 3 days. Mo was so knowledgeable, he is my go to guy from now on for my Prius! Oh, and my car runs like the day we bought it, can't even remember it running this great-and the price cannot be beat, he doesn't try to upsell you or anything.

Moh, great for explaing prius engine issues and customer oriented business, very professional.My 3rd gen got a low milage engine swap for a very competitive price and just took a couple of days the whole job.Now my prius runs very well.
