From my point of view a loving wife, a faithful dog and an honest reliable auto mechanic are all you need in this life. Before I met Edgar and his lovely wife I had 2 out of three.I started going to their shop years ago for oil changes and smog checks. I watched how they interacted with their customers. Edgar is honest and straight forward. I trust his ability and reliability to the point that when I inherited a 1990 Chevy 1 ton 4x4 with only 67,000 miles I knew exactly where to take it. After discussing the issues with Edgar he summed it up, so you want a reliable truck that will get you tho the mountains and back without having to worry about it. That summed it up perfectly.I got the truck back today. All the parts that age after 52 years of sitting around were replaced. The engine got a tune up and complete inspection, new shocks, wheel alignment, and more.Just as important, there were things that I thought should be done, but after taking a good look at them, Edgar didn t think that they needed attention now. So, while he could have done a complete brake job he drove it and used the brakes in various situations, all they needed was minor adjustment.His rates are fair, the work at the shop is first rate, and if something needs doing, or doesn t need doing, I know I can trust Edgar s judgement.I recommend Prunedale Auto Auto Service without reservation.Services: Electrical repair, General repairs & maintenance, Steering & suspension replacement, Auto engine tuning, Auto emissions testing

Outstanding business!!Our car was breaking down in Soledad on the way back to San Jose from a trip at 2:30 on a Friday afternoon. We called forward to Prunedale Auto Service explaining the issues. The owner knew immediately what was likely wrong and had an alternator for our make/model/year car delivered in less than an hour (by 3:00) and had it installed by 5:45 in great working order! In addition, we were charged a very fair and reasonable price. We were so grateful and amazed by the responsiveness, talent, and value of Prunedale Auto Service.We give our Highest Recommendation!!Service: General repairs & maintenance

They got me in and out quickly eventhough I didn't have an appointment. I called the day of and they were able to slide me in for a smog. Wonderful shop.

Professional and courteous, they scheduled my smog same day; it took only 15 mins. Comfortable waiting room, nice people. I'll return for more services.

I pulled into this place with a flat tire on my horse trailer because it was the closest one around and my tire wasn t going to make it much farther. Even though they aren t a tire place they immediately helped me. The man who did was so kind and genuine. He ended up taking the flat off and putting on my spare. In the middle of it all so many people came up to him asking for things and even though he was clearly stressed he helped them all with a smile and laughs. I came back the next week for an oil change on my truck and that was also a great experience. Although it takes longer than a jiffylube, I d rather support this place.

Was passing through the area with our travel trailer in tow when our truck developed a coolant leak. A quick google search found this shop just .7 of a mile away. I quickly drove to the shop and explained my situation. The young lady in the front office advised the shop crew was at lunch and would be back in 20 minutes. I waited until they returned. The owner advised he had two jobs he needed a few minutes to complete and then would work me in.Edgar found a heater hose connector had broken and said it was a quick fix if he could find the hose. No local suppliers had the hose and the Ford dealer parts dept said they would have to call back. In the end Edgar was able to fabricate a hose and explained what he had used to complete the repair.The pricing was fair and the service beyond what I had expected given my unexpected arrival at the shop.Thanks to Edgar for making what could have been a bad day just a minor inconvenience.

I HIGHLY recommend this place. They are very knowledgeable and honest. What stood out to me was their kindness as well. Edgar and his wife were very helpful and I'm very grateful they really took care of me. I honestly love coming to this place. Everyone here is always very friendly. Last time I came they were about to head out to lunch but they were so nice, and decided to change my oil first. Honestly, like, who does that??? Anyways, great customer service and the mechanics are always very fast and thorough with their work. They also never overcharge you like most places. Prices are reasonable and service is great, what else can you ask for?

Awesome service. They took me in without an appointment and changed $10 less than the competition. I ended up bringing in my other car the same day. I would highly recommend these folks they don't waste your time. They are a new generation of mechanic service's.

I'm always skeptical about having someone I don't know work on my truck. To my delight, I had a great experience at Prunedale Auto. I. Found them to be reasonably priced, honest about the repairs needed and very accommodating. I'll be definitely using them again if I need future repairs.

The best mechanic experience I have ever had! I was on the road in the middle of moving when my radiator cracked and my truck overheated. They took me right in got and had me back on the road in less than two hours for 375$ These guys are the new owners of the shop they just bought it on the first of December 2017, pay no attention to the previous bad reviews from the other owners. These are stand up guys with a great shop they will help you out!

I highly recommend this shop I went in there to have my wife s car smogged thought about leaving it there since it was late the car was ready in less than 15 minutes. Instead I ended up leaving my truck for some regular check ups to pass a smog check it was ready in 24 hrs and the price was unbelievable. Total worth the drive from Salinas to Prundale or surrounding areas.

I took my equinox for a noise the engine was making with no appointment and the new owner right away took my car in and figured out what the problem was. He is very honest and knowledgeable and has great customer service. I highly recommend taking your car here.

Took my Subaru Outback in to have a mystery noise checked out in the middle of a road trip and was honestly surprised to find such amazing service right off 101. Edgar was incredibly helpful, clearly knew what he was talking about, and kind enough to walk me through what issues he saw & how urgently they needed to be addressed. He went out of his way to make sure I felt comfortable getting back on the road. Thank you, Edgar!

I called them cause I can't turn my key to start my car. I was gonna take it into them and have them fix it. They graciously recommended I use a locksmith which would be cheaper and faster for me. By all accounts they were correct. Thank you for you're integrity

Before I became a regular customer I needed to go on a long distance drive and needed tires and everything checked out on my car before the trip. I drove in without an appointment and they checked my car fluids, wipers, tires and when I went to pay them they said it was FREE and to have a great trip. Every time my car needs a smog test or regular oil change these are my "go to guys"! They have always been reliable and honest and do a good job.

They re efficient and nice. The oil change prices are higher than jiffy lube and other franchises but I guess that s to be expected.

We got some problems with our car and went to Prunedale Auto Service. We got help with the problems and we were on the road again after 1 hour. So quick, friendly and professional.

Guys legit. No b.s. if you would like no run around or extra hidden fees go here. Also he explains everything in great detail so just about everyone can understand the problem and solution.

Replaced my transmission twice and it still failed, replaced my radiator once and it failed. If you value your car and your money, stay away from this place. This is costing me more down the road with repairing my repairs and has taken life out of my car. If you want to support a mom and pop local business, do it somewhere else.
