Hands down, this is the most positive experience I've had with a mechanic and shop. Joel is thorough, passionate about doing a job the right way, knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and above all else honest. His turnaround time is excellent, he is realistic in his assessment of any issues and what it will cost/how long it will take and gives the customer the power to choose, within reason, what work is performed on their vehicle. If they see something, then they say something rather than just leaving it and not informing the customer (which is what I've experienced at other shops). Can't write enough positive things about Carcanix and the people that make it such a cool place. Take your car there, it's worth it and both you and and your car will be better off for it. Thank you Joel and team, appreciate your fine work!

Very good repair shop. Up front and honest. Definitely not THE CHEAPEST repair shop you will find. But if you know ANYTHING about auto repair, you definitely don't want the cheapest repair. You want the best priced QUALITY repair you can get. As well as an up front mechanic that will keep you up to date with the situation with your vehicle at all times. You will get that here. The owner is a good honest guy from my interaction with him and because I am a mechanic myself I know what I am talking about. But I definitely don't FEEL like doing major repairs, getting too old.I summary, Carcanix is the BEST place you can take your vehicle, not the CHEAPEST. If your looking for the cheapest, don't bother coming here in my opinion. If you want your car fixed correctly, fast and for a decent price. This is the place for you.

Joel and his team are respectful, knowledgeable and diligently. Excellent job done in my vehicle!!! The price is fair, not cheap and no cheap work either. He backs up his work and I experienced that. It is quite valuable when an owner takes the time and patience to give their customers a good explanation for their questions. Thank you for doing that for me. I asked many questions and you took the time to explain and tried to make sure I understood, because I am not a mechanic. Best wishes in your business and God bless

My household has been going to Carcanix since I moved here 2.5 years ago. Joel is ridiculously honest and super good at his job (and so are the mechanics who work at his shop).I have referred friends to him who, at first, scoff at his assessment and pricing only to turn around and realize that Joel not only knows what he is talking about, but isn t one to nickel and dime you.It really is a little trustworthy shop full of good dudes and for that I truly cannot recommend them enough.

Joel seems very very competent!I really felt he is very honest and wasn't trying to get the most money out of me. He helped me get a quote for transmission replacement and even looked up his resources for a used transmission 1st. His quote was very fair for transmission replacement in my opinion as I have called around.

Most honest shop I ve been to. I took my VW here with timing issues and some other electrical issues and they took care of it. Joel will make sure you get the best deal and he ll give you a rundown of everything done to the car. I 100% recommend this shop.

Without a doubt the best repair experience I have ever had. My 17 yr old son and I bought a used Lexus, for his first car. And we subsequently did some mods to it. In addition to what we modded, er, um... botched, we then experienced other non related mechanical issues. Nightmare stuff, that other auto repair facilities would make you regret ever driving a car, due to the time and cost to diagnose alone!Enter Joel the owner at Carcanix. He was FIVE STAR AMAZING!! He communicated thoroughly, and patiently, even though we had endless painfully long questions and concerns. He professionally informed us of possible road bumps and costs before he did any work. He fully informed my son and I of things he suspected could be culprits and become problems, but held off on repair until we could run it for a while (those items are fine btw - he was right).So I left the Lexus there late at night. Joel called me the next morning and informed us of what he confirmed needed repair. So we held our breath and braced for a week of excuses, long repair time, and a nasty bill.Joel finished in a day and a half and charged less than what we figured! What he figured were the problems - he properly diagnosed and fixed, as I said all lower than I expected - and there were mods that WE rigged in there, that he repaired. And while he had to charge for that, the price was EXTREMELY fair, and he didn't do any unnecessary work or charging.PHEEEEEEEW!!!!! Big exhale!!!!!!!! The man and his crew know their stuff. He's a walking encyclopedia for Lexus, Toyota and probably most other cars too.My son, Joel and I, hung out afterwards and talked cars and stuff for over an hour. It was just a cool place, a cool vibe and an amazingly experienced, fair and pleasant owner and crew. Heck, I'm gonna invite the guys over for a BBQ and beers. Never met the guy before, not paid for the review, as I don't ever really write them, but this was different - PLEASANTLY DIFFERENT!

Fantastic service and team at Carcanix! Although it can be a little expensive, it's definitely worth it! Brought my Lexus in for factory recommended maintenance, and not only was it completed well, but the team was able to fix other issues outside of the maintenance schedule. They were very communicative during the process & always asked for my consent for parts, installation that would cost extra. If something goes wrong, they're willing to go the extra mile to make sure you're satisfied. Also, the owner Joel is very friendly too! Highly recommend!Service: Auto maintenance

Joel and his team are the best mechanics I've ever had the pleasure of working with! They are incredibly fair, honest, quick, efficient, reliable, communicative, and above all else, passionate and caring about their customers' cars and their customers as ordinary people and not just as a "customer". I feel as if it's so rare nowadays in our society to come across people as genuine and honest as they are. I cannot even begin to say how pleased I was with their level of concern towards me and my car whenever I brought it in. After my first visit, I left amazed and completely satisfied from their expert service. I've come to them a few times now across the span of a couple months and their services have been absolutely amazing each time. From discussing the issue to giving accurate price estimates and to fixing the problem in a timely manner, they have been excellent! I 100% recommend going to CarCanix if you have any auto issues. For the work, their prices are extremely fair and they will not rest until you are satisfied and for that, I will be returning time and time again in the future. They are incredibly hard working, passionate, and caring people, and I want to sincerely thank them for the time, effort, labor, and passion put into helping me out! Carcanix is the BEST SHOP to bring your car in the greater Sacramento area. Joel, the owner runs a very reliable and trustworthy mechanic shop. I know I can always trust him to give me a thorough inspection and explanation of what he finds. He is very knowledgeable and shares his expertise passionately and in an engaging manner. He is honest and his prices are very fair for all he gives you, a stress free experience. I've never found a car shop that I trusted more to do the right job, and to do it well. Got my Lexus 100k service and other things done here. Did a good job. But found out the service is expensive than Lexus showroom. I wish i would have taken it to Lexus.

I was searching for a mechanic in the Rancho Cordova area. I read the reviews for Carcanix through google and one thing I noticed was they had lengthy narratives describing the customer experience. Almost all were very positive and satisfactory. They also mentioned how impressed they were with the owner Joel. I needed a mechanic who could get my 99 Chevy Silverado truck running again. It suddenly stopped working and I had garaged it for 3 years after not being able to find the problem myself. I walked into Carcanix and talked to Joel in person. He talked to me for about 20 minutes getting a better picture of what could have potentially gone wrong. He told me that I was at the right place and as long as I would be not in a big hurry, he would be willing to tackle the job. 2 weeks later I got my truck back and it has been running like a champ. Turning out to be fuel pump went out. This is why I recommend Joel and Carcanix: He took the time to listen to my situation and was upfront at what he charged. There were no surprises of cost. He text me as they worked on my vehicle and let me know the progress. He also made sure to get my permission before proceeding with any repairs. I wasn t tried to be sold on repairs that were unnecessary. Before my vehicle rad ready to be picked up, Joel ran it until he was absolutely certain the issue had been resolved. So, In conclusion, I am convinced that I found a good mechanic that I m not worried about getting ripped off. He cares about customer satisfaction and has professional mechanics working under him. Just great.Everyone here is super nice. All the reviews here speak the truth. I never leave reviews, but genuinely I want others to understand that this is a place to put your trust in just as I did after reading the reviews, going in, and landing on an amazing place.As someone new to cars and getting them fixed, I was really lucky to meet Joel and his crew who really gained my trust from day one with their service, kindness, humor, and honesty. My first visit, Joel generously spent over an hour explaining and walking me through all my questions big and small. And as a bonus, on both my visits so far he s taught me so much about cars in general telling me it s good to know these things. It s like any young, lost car owner s dream to have a mechanic you can rely on. He is also transparent and wants to work with his customers to get the best, desired results.I really recommend this place. If you re on a hunt for a life-long mechanic and a shop that you can really trust as your local go-to - this is the place. You can really drive with pride and relief knowing you have a place to go if your car needs some help without having to worry about dealing with doubts/concerns that sometimes can often linger in the world of car fixing.I ll be coming back for any future car needs. He performs my regular maintenance reliably and efficiently, and also helped me find a new (used) car and was extremely communicative throughout the entire process. Carcanix has long been my car care and repair shop place of choice. I have been a loyal and satisfied customer for well over 10 years. The staff and service are second to none. Trust and confidence are apart of the service you receive from Carcanix. Costs are shared up front and completion of work is timely. Both of my vehicles are in their care regardless of my issues. Oil changes to major engine repairs are all possible and can be trusted to be done well. I have always been able to get my car back on the road as soon as is possible with no rework necessary. I have a 2006, Ford Taurus that runs like new all because of the preventative maintenance care and advice I get from Carcanix! Driving it til the wheelsI highly recommend Carcanix and always will.

Carcanix was recommended to me through my friend from work and I couldn't be happier with the work and service. I had an oil change, tire rotation and they replaced a couple broken parts in my wipers. Joel is upfront and breaks down how much everything is down to the parts and service while also being easy to talk to and friendly. He makes recommendations but never pressures you on what you should get and even gives you lower cost options. Highly recommend this mechanic for all of your car needs.

Bottom line - if you're looking for an all around excellent, honest and efficient shop for your car repairs, go here. Seriously. I've been shopping around for quotes for my aging 2010 Mazda 6 since March 2020, when I originally spoke to Joel, who runs Carcanix. He was definitely my first choice despite getting over thirty quotes, but I just didn't have the money for repairs at that time. Fast forward six months to this Tuesday. I'm finally ready to pull the trigger and get my prized (for sentimental reasons) Mazda running once more. I needed A LOT of stuff done. Serpentine belt, spark plugs, synthetic oil change, new rotors, new brake pads, flushing brake and steering fluids, cabin and engine air filters (these are things I went in knowing I wanted, not services I was up sold on) and more. Joel got me in THE NEXT DAY, I thought I was going to be waiting weeks. From the moment I walked in, I was happy because masks are required, the lobby is chained off and I didn't have to worry about getting Covid on top of repairing my car. Joel went over my list of repairs with me in detail discussing everything I wanted, including going over repairs that may not even have to be done to try and save me some money. He worked with me on my strict budget, and was able to complete all of my repairs and more within said allotted budget. As an additional customer service cherry on top, he honored my quote from March, which was lower than a current quote would have been. Not only that, but I got my car in at 9:30 am and my car was ready to go by 5:30 pm despite my laundry list of repairs. I'm ashamed to say I didn't get the names of the fantastic mechanics that I presume performed most of the actual labor, but they were extremely kind and impressive as well. As you can see from my other reviews, I haven't made too many over the last decade, and none this thorough, but I feel that strongly about Carcanix. For as long as I'm living in the greater Sacramento area, I will not take my business anywhere else.Services: Electrical, Auto engine tuning, Engine repair, Air conditioning

Joel at Carcanix is such a great guy! He s the VW guru so that s the only place I trust to take my sport wagon which he loves and takes care of like his own. He s really smart and thorough, and has quick service. He s very accessible with both a shop phone and text numbers, and keeps in touch as he goes with the work. If something needs to be done, he will tell you. If something can wait, he will tell you he s not going to try and up-sell you or make you spend any more than absolutely have to at the moment. Since I m local, Joel even dropped me off and picked me up at home which was beyond nice! Can t say enough good things about this place. Honest, good work. I ll be going back in the fall for my new tires. He even helps with those if you like, stays in your budget and helps you pick what will work best for your needs. I have never felt compelled to write a Yelp review before but I cannot say enough good things about Joel and his team at Carcanix. Everybody needs to know what an awesome shop this is. I called about having a pre purchase inspection done on a used car in the area and was just completely blown away by the service I was provided at this shop, even from the very first phone call. I found the ad for the used car on Craigslist and Joel actually pulled up the ad while I was on the phone with him and was looking at it with me and making recommendations on what to look for and what to avoid when shopping for used cars. I brought a car to him that I thought was in pretty decent condition for a used car with a salvage title but they looked over the car with such a fine toothed comb and found many things that would have probably cost me a lot of money later on. Rob, the mechanic who conducted the PPI explained all the issues in a way that even the most car illiterate person would be able to understand. Joel is such a straight shooter and he and his team are truly committed to serving the best interest of anybody that walks through his doors. Cannot recommend enough. These guys are incredible!

My daughters VW Bug was having serious problems. Joel diagnosed and fixed the problem and the car runs great. He communicated with us throughout the day to let us know what was going on. He runs an honest and reliable shop. We will definitely be using Carcanix for all our repairs.

Joel is awesome and a very trust worthy guy. I always bring my car and moms car to him knowing he won't rip you off. He's had the ability to make me pay more but tells you the facts so you can choose if you really need things done to your car.
