I hesitated going back to this place as the last truck that I owned he failed immediately without even hooking anything up to it. Said he seen blue smoke outta my tail pipes. Visual fail he said. Then berated me like a child and told me I needed a new engine or junk it, because legally I couldn't sell it.I crossed my fingers and pulled in. Awesome now. The youngster that helped me was very courteous and professional. (Had to get in my nasty work truck) He told me I could eat my lunch inside the waiting room. Great experience this time and I will continue to return to this place. The young man made the deal. Great service sir!

Easy smog, great price, and really friendly & helpful staff. Ezekiel & Sal both helped me today and I felt like they really went above and beyond. I'm not usually one to write reviews, but they really deserve one. My car had a few after market add-ons that made the process a little more complicated, but they were kind and handled it like pros. These guys seemed to have a great rapport with the other clients who came too. Definitely will be back if I have any more car needs --- its nice to have a car place I can trust.

I was struggling with getting my RV diagnosed after failing a smog test, but this shop got it figured out and resolved, and smogged and ready to go in record time and at a great price. Genuine, honest and upfront. This is my go to spot for all my vehichles now.

Found this business through Groupon. Ezekiel helped us with both of our vehicles. He was very friendly and professional. His customer service is top notch. Both vehicles passed, but on one of them, he gave me a heads up on some potential problems I could encounter down the road. He went above and beyond in my book. Very knowledgeable!

Otto did a fine job with our smog test. He was courteous, efficient, professional, quick and very reasonably priced. You can download the discount coupon from his site to your phone. I don't trust my Jeep with anyone, but Otto and the team at Sac Valley Smog are magicians. It is not easy to find anyone that can diagnose and help with my 1990 YJ Jeep and its carburetor. Not only was Otto able to diagnose it, but I always feel a high trust level when I drop my Wrangler off for any reason. My Jeep is a champ, and having them keep it running means more than any words I can put in this box. Great experience - came in randomly (was sent here by the San Juan shop...it currently doesn't have its star designation atm) and there was little wait. Got treated with respect and courtesy, also witnessed an employee deliver not good news (someone didnt pass smog) in a knowledgeable and professional manner.Highly recommend!

I had a great experience. Everyone there seemed to really care about helping customers and doing a good job. They were honest and trustworthy. It's good to know that there is such a great mechanic shop in Orangevale.

i had to get my rv smoged and they ran into some problem starting the smog but they got it done no extra charge very fast and nice guys i will be back the best smog place around

Got my car smogged and had an old stored code that prevented it from passing and otherwise fine test. Otto had a great explanation and we found a solution to see if the old stored code would go away. After some time and miles I took it back in and all was good to go! Grab the coupon from their website and call ahead to find a good time for Otto and you can't go wrong!Service: Smog certification

The man who owns the shop was not friendly at all. As soon as he found out I had a Groupon, he told me he would not prioritize my service and was turned away. During the little interaction I had with him, I picked up he was very rude, racist and he made me feel unwelcomed at his shop. I asked if I could get the service without using Groupon and he continued to refuse the services. If you wanna get a feel for the 1950 s this might be the shop for you. Terrible customer service and business and would highly recommend you all to pass on this shop.

After Folsom Lake Dodge wanted to sell me an $8,000 catalytic converter, Sac Smog Repair diagnosed the problem as just an oxygen sensor! Total bill under $400 to repair. This place is honest, professional, & quick. If you fail your smog test, I would bring the vehicle here. The worker here was very rude and seems like he could possible be racist. As soon as I opened the door, he told me "I don't want your business" and told me to leave with a very angry tone. It made me very uncomfortable and he laughed as I walked out.. I just wanted to get my car smogged. I should have read all of the negative reviews on here before going.

Great service! We tried getting someone to fix our Suzuki Samurai multiple times, but no luck. Finally found this company, and the car is running like new again (at 35 years old). Fair price too! Where do I begin? (I'll try not to be winded.) I relocated from NY to Cali. Was informed I had to get a "Smog Check" Wait, what is that? Anyway, I did as I was told, and met professional, knowledgeable, people in this shop.Roger explained the process to me, and fixed me right up. I didn't realize this was a "one stop shop." I had planned on running around to get an oil change, and then try to find a mechanic for technical advice. I had some other issues with my vehicle, and Roger took care of everything that needed to be done. Phew, saved me alot of headache!My stay was a little longer than intended, but I didn't mind. I knew I was in good hands. In all honesty the time flew right by. Interacting with incoming customers, and lucky to have met Keri, the owner, well hang on... he gave kudos as his wife being the owner. This guy... what a gem! All the guys are gems!! I felt like I have known these guys forever!! I had great conversations, and left feeling happier than I have in a long time; most important - my car runs like a top!I'm so glad to have chosen this place, and meet a crew who goes WAY above, and beyond. A crew who truly cares! The world needs more folks like this. This is my new "to go," place. No one out there can fill shoes this big!Thanks guys!

The tech here really knows his stuff. Figured out a problem I'd been fighting for years on my old truck and rooted out the cause in a few days. Not a lot of people left that actually know their craft, this guy knows his stuff and is definitely worth the time and money. I would not hesitate to recommend for diagnostics. Wasn't able to receive service from this business the worker said my check engine lite was on he and the others who wor there don't test cars with check engine lite on . Pretty much kicked me out like I'd said a bad word or something .told me to find another shop he didn't care.

Great, friendly professional service. James fixed a minor problem and didn't even charge me. Did an all around checkup and smog test.Reasonably priced honest. I'll go back again.Ps. As a single woman it's nerve wracking to take your car to a mechanic. He took all my worries and concerns away.

This place is a joke. James is a scammer.I came in feeling really good and left feeliinng taken. James said the part would be close to 600. Yet I called the Napa he goes thru and the price was half that.Then he told me it would take 3 hours, but he would only charge me for 2. Good right?Nope, cause he was doubling the price of parts. So he would have made more on that than his hourly wage.As soon as I told him I could find the parts cheaper, he became very hostile and treated me like garbage. Its just parts, I was still going to pay him his hourly wage either way. So why try and take advantage of a woman?Will never come again. They pick and choose who they help the right way.Then after all that. I take it to another mechanic� and that wasn't even the issue.He was just finding things to have me pay for. I needed a diagnostic test and smog check on my car last week.. I left my car overnight and the owner took great care of my car and I highly recommend him to anyone for car maintenance.. he informed me my brakes could be replaced as well and I couldn t at the time. Today I dropped my car off an he stayed open after hours to finish my car because I had to have it back for work tomorrow.. his communication is great, his prices are more then fair and I will refer my family and friends to him!!! Arrived Monday for smog check. Greeted by Jim Zimmerle. He was very friendly but they would need the car a day due to being short 1 tech that day. I left my 2005 1 ton diesel truck with them. The next day I got the call that it was failing due to no catalytic converter and smoke when gassing it. I picked it up and sent to referee through the BAR. I was already in the process of getting waiver for catalytic converter as diesels require factory only for this part and it s been discontinued. They would not waive the smoke test. I asked the referee what was involved in the smoke test. He said running the engine between 2000 and 3000 rpm while watching the plume of smoke dissipate in 2 to three seconds. Basically what would happen while accelerating quickly. So I went back to the shop and asked the tech David Francis how he ran the test. He took offense to this question stating how long he had worked at a GM dealership and how many hundreds of diesel trucks he had tested. He also stated if it was running correctly it would not smoke at all. I asked what it would take to fix it and he stated making it factory again or rebuilding the engine. He also said it was a smog check and not an evaluation. I brought it back home and called 2 of my neighbors which own 3/4 ton trucks with same engine. They both said their truck has the same plume. So I called the dealership and they stated the same. I ll take it to another shop tomorrow and have a tech that understands diesels a the pass fail criteria.
