Great service from Young's -- my headlight was out; Young's was able to take me right then and fixed the light, which required a more complicated procedure of removing the wheels. Charged a very reasonable price and it was done within a half and hour. Highly recommend and will be going back!

If you're looking for friendly customer service, this is not your place. If you are looking for a knowledgeable mechanic, this is also NOT your place.I called on the phone and told him about my 1990 Toyota Pickup having a fuel smell in the exhaust (shoutout to Pele's in Richmond for excellent service on the exhaust and catalytic converter), before even listening to me he snaps "we don't do catalytic converters" showing that he was not truly fully engaged or listening to the conversation. When I toldA him they suggested I get a "tune up", he told me "that's not a thing". After finally getting my point across, he tells me to come in on Friday morning; so I do. I tell him what is going on again and told him I spoke to him on the phone and before anything else he says "well I'm not going to do it today", which I never even asked him to. He then tells me I can't even leave it. So why tell me to bring it in Friday morning at all if you're not going to take it? Fine. He says he'll be there Monday at 730AM.I come back on Monday morning 730AM, roll it in, he says "I can smell it, the car is too old that can't be fixed" which is an absolutely ridiculous thing for a mechanic to say. The 1990 Toyota Pickup engine is actually very easy to work on, mostly I'm looking for expertise and diagnostics, which many places have helped with before, but clearly not here. Could not advise you more to take your car elsewhere. Awful service.

Young has been my mechanic for over 35 years. He's been consistently reliable and tells me the most cost effective way to address my car problems. He's honest, polite, communicative, follows up timely with estimates and is accurate about when the car will be ready. Excellent service! Dropped off my car in the morning, with an undiagnosed transmission issue. By late morning they had diagnosed the issue* and communicated exactly what parts would be needed in the repair and how much it would cost. Very reasonable price. By mid-afternoon the repair was completed. Exceeded my expectations! Thank you.*which ended up being a relatively minor issue (fluid pressure switches in need of repair)

This place is awesome. I came in with a P0455 code, they checked it out it was a Evap leak. Replaced the part but a few days later check light in again same code . What makes this place awesome is they are honest and refunded me, cause we couldn't figure out why it kept getting the same code over and over. I have had many people look into this issue and was told the same part needed to be changed with the same outcome...I guess I have a Grimlin

THE BST SHOP ON GRAND! They are thorough, and stand behind their work. It can be tough getting in (they get busy) but it is ABSOLUTLY worth it to have a high-caliber mechanic work on your ride. I was due for an oil change and hadn't found a new mechanic since I moved to the area. Called the owner when I was finishing work and he said to bring in my car and he would get it done before they closed. In fact my car was ready to go in an hour and I can't fault the friendly service and clear communication.

First trip in a year and we needed the car serviced. They got me in the next day, serviced the car and had it back to me in a few hours. Also rotated the tires at no charge! I will trust them with any work on my car. Our previous mechanic passed away (pre-pandemic) and we were looking for a new trusted source - found it in Young's Automotive.

My extended family has been receiving excellent service from Young's for decades. We highly recommend Young for fine work and only doing what needs to be done -- no padding the job or misleading advice. Totally reliable.

I live in Los Angeles but my check engine light came on 40 miles before I arrived in Oakland to visit my friend. Brought my car by Young's and he checked the light, told me what was up and also explained the details of everything it did and that I didn't need to stress about it for now. Then I was safely off, no money down, peace of mind. I figure the least I can do is offer my good experience review.

My Lexus ES350 (40 K mi), 2010 was serviced by other shop, and quoted " Replace passenger side of whole C.B drive shaft", I checked the condition after car raised. Inner/outer boots are sound after I touched it, except some grease around the boot, should not be with this car, and some fresh oil sprinkled. I am a home mechanic for life because of aging. I decided to have a second opinion. Mr. Young ( Young's Automotive) examined and quoted " replace the clamp on the inner boot and re-clamp it." The integrity of business ethics is highly appraised.

He doesn't waste your time or money. He has always been honest, prompt and direct with me. If he can't fix something the day you bring it, he will tell you up front so you can come back later. He calls and communicates what the issue is and is speedy about repairs. I have had him tell me not to fix something because he doesn't think it is worth the money (though he will if you insist/ask), and he has done numerous small things free of charge (diagnose a check engine light problem that was just the gas cap, replace a tail light). He isn't touchy feely about personal interaction but he gets the job done and is certainly not mean-spirited. I see reviews of people who feel he didn't catch something and I am not a mechanic, but I wonder if a few of those couldn't have been anticipated and were actually due to bad luck/coincidence (frustrating and upsetting no doubt, but possibly not preventable). To each his own, but I will stand by Young's Automotive every time.

I went in there with a door problem. Other places wanted $250. They fixed it on the spot with a screwdriver and charged me ZERO. He's done stuff like this many times for me. Incredibly honest. Excellent work.

Good people. Prices always seem very fair. One time, Young even made a special house call (doesn't normally do this) to jumpstart our car, and wouldn't even accept money for it.

Great work. I took mine in for what ended up being a minor electrical issue and he fixed it so quickly he didn't even charge me.

Came in to have a CEL checked out. He diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes, fixed it and cleared the error code and sent me on my way without charging me. Will be coming back here in the future for bigger jobs for sure.

Young and his staff are not only an excellent mechanics, Young is the most honest guy in business today. He always gets it done on time and if he can't find the problem, he doesn't make it up.
