Had my car a week shy of 4 months. (The internet says it's a 2 to 5 hour job). Almost twice the dealer quote. Finally picked it up yesterday, less than 60 miles later every light on the dash went on and it wouldn't start. Had it towed back. How he handles fixing this will determine if I give him a couple of stars or none and take him to small claims court. It's going to be interesting and I'm not optimistic.

I have owned 2 Audi S4s, one of which I currently own. I have been going to German Car Service for over 3 years, with all repairs being complete there. The prices are very reasonable compared to the dealership. Not only are they able to do regular maintenance, they also did performance parts for me too. They installed multiple items for me including a clutch, engine replacement, coilovers, short throw shifter, and crankshaft pulleys. Dat is THE best mechanic I have ever worked with in my many decades of car ownership. He helped me tremendously with my Mini for many years and after recently purchasing a used Volvo, he went above and beyond to get the car in working order. He helped me get it towed to the shop and spent countless hours diagnosing what turned out to be a complicated electrical issue. He is honest and reliable. I will never use another mechanic again if I can help it. Thank you for your hard work and integrity Dat!

I went there to get a diagnostic, and Dat charged me $225 he charged me another $100 because he said the wires were loose and reconnected them, He recommended I get a new battery, which he was going to charge me another $225. I know another mechanic that would charge me $20 for the same problem. A day later my car won't start or open and Dat (the owner) could've done that for the service I paid. He's ripping people because he has a specialized skill and it's foreign cars.

My Mercedes savvy friend recommended Dat, the owner, and this shop. Dat got me in the morning I called and he explained what was involved with replacing my broken door actuator. He texted me photos of the repair in progress (!) and was spot on with the estimate. He also informed me that my brake fluid was dirty and I had him flush the system. The prices were much more reasonable than the other shop I have been going to. Great 1st experience and I will be coming back.

I feel really comfortable taking my car here - they're honest and direct.They did a thorough job in a very timely manner and their prices of course are a serious challenge to the dealership. It's really great to have a local place that can work on german cars. Right on guys!

After a comprehensive search, Dat has been our go-to mechanic for our Mini Cooper ever since we moved to Oakland a couple years ago. He has been the most reliable, thoughtful, trustworthy, and honest auto shop we have ever dealt with - by a long shot! I trust that whenever he diagnoses an issue or makes a recommendation for repair, he knows what he s talking about, gives it to us straight, and charges a competitive price. On top of all of this, Dat is just a genuinely nice guy who I enjoy catching up with when we re getting work done or when we catch him in the neighborhood. Thanks Dat!

I began taking my car to German Car Service when the factory warranty expired, and I was really glad to escape the dealership's service department "shakedown," where they always insisted I should approve hundreds of dollars in extra work whenever I took the car in for a "free" oil change. Dat is an excellent, certified German car mechanic--He really knows his stuff, and does excellent work for a fair price.

Excellent service for German and quasi-German (Mini) cars. Dat, the owner, is honest and helpful. Not cheap, but that s the nature of these cars, and certainly cheaper than the dealer. Highly recommended.

Dat took care of my VW Passat years ago and German Car Service is now the only place I bring my 2009 Audi A3. I trust his expertise (he's an Audi master technician), his recommendations (re: whether something is proactive/elective vs. urgent), and his pricing, and he gets things done on the timeline he commits to. There's no reason to pay ~2x at the dealership or other more expensive specialists.

Terrible service. Took my car to get a stop light changed and they decided to change a sensor and not communicate; they wouldn't let me take my car if I didn't pay 2k USD. Ended up paying 800USD for a super simple requirement and it took them 5 days. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!

I've taken my Mini Cooper here a few times and Dat and his team do a great job. Mini maintenance isn't going to be cheap anywhere, but this is a much better deal than going to a dealership.

I have used German Car Service from the 1st day of opening, in fact, followed Dat from another location as his work has always been spot on. I'm also very happy that he is in the neighborhood, as I can drop the car off and easily walk anywhere I need to be.

I have been brining my car to German Car Service for two years. Dat works hard to take care of my car and does a great job keeping it on the road. He's up front about what to expect and always follows thru. I highly recommend German Car Service.

Took my GTI in for engine misfires (90% of the time related to spark plugs or coil pack). Dat performed $190 check, determined that it was *not* the spark plugs, and likely some PCV valve. Cut to a couple months later and I take it to a different shop - they immediately diagnose as a spark plug that is gapped at 1.6mm instead of 1mm. Easy diagnosis, easy fix. Car has been running fine ever since.

Dat and his team do great work! I have been going to his shop for almost 2 years and I highly recommend it. Not only does he offer convenient hours and an accessible location, but also fair prices. In addition, the customer service can't be beat!

Dat is fair and reasonable. I had him replace my brakes and my tires. When I had a slow leak in a tire, he fixed the leak for free.

Worst customer service I ve ever experienced with a business. I only called to find out what time they were opened and closed on Saturday. He he just said No and hung up the phone. Never answered when I called back. WOW
