Basic camping cabins come with bedding, picnic tables, front porches and shared bathrooms; some are riverside. Cozy upgraded cabins have sitting or separate living areas, kitchenettes, wood-burning stoves and/or sleeping lofts, along with en suite facilities. Amenities include a playground, a sports court and use of inner tubes. There’s a coin-operated laundry. Parking is available. There’s also a campground for RVs and tents.

One of my favorite all time campgrounds. Amazing sites, good bathrooms, FANTASTIC (but freezing) river. Extremely solid campground, every time i come back its a joy!Notice: if you have small kiddos make sure to supervise them if they go in the river, as the higher up you go the water gets quite deep, fast moving and potentially dangerous. Shouldn't be a problem for careful older kids/ adults.

Enjoyed a fantastic stay at Big Sur Campground & Cabins. The site is conveniently located near various hikes and gas stations. The pristine river within the campground provided clean and fresh water, and the delightful hot showers and well-maintained bathrooms added to the experience. The staff, particularly Max, were incredibly attentive and went the extra mile to help us with RV issues. A heartfelt thank you to Max for his exceptional assistance! Nearby activities: Hikes

Like another review on here, my problems began with the road getting washed out making this place inaccessible. Because of this my wife and I want to book an additional night in Monterey on our Pacific Coast trip instead of staying in Big Sur. A major disappointment for us, but it is out of everyone's control. I contacted them to cancel given the issues beyond our control and they are refusing to give us a full refund. They say they are only giving full refunds a week out. Seriously?! A week out we will already be on our trip and we need to ensure we have a place to stay when we get to that area. The operators of this place are greedy and short sighted, caring more about their bottom line than treating customers with respect and understanding. I would avoid this place. They do not know how to run a business.

An absolutely gem of a location. Close to nearby state parks, convenience & gas store. Camp sites are clean. There's hot water for showers. Restrooms are cleaned frequently. The only thing missing is campsites dont have water & electrical points.

I made a reservation from Friday 3/29 to Sunday 3/31. On Thursday, there was a Wind Advisory in place for Big Sur with over an inch of rain fall expected. Given the obviously dangerous weather conditions, I tried to reschedule the reservation, but the Big Sur Campground declined the request knowing they are putting guests in danger.Lo and behold, a landslide destroyed the road to the campground on Saturday, leaving thousands stuck in harzadorous conditions. The campground then stated that they are cancelling all reservations through April 8th, but have not responded to my email requesting a refund. This money-grabbing business knowingly puts guests in danger. Either hope you get lucky with the weather when booking a stay here or avoid at all costs!

We loved our campsite right along the creek, sleeping to the sound of the water running was a treat. Lots of beautiful redwood trees. Some late night raccoons scurried through the sites and ransacked the camp next to us that left food out. There were LOTS of kids when we went, and seems like this is a regular family spot. Some parents had children under close watch and were respectful of privacy and space and peace, others not so much. We had kids regularly running through our campsite, picking up equipment on our picnic table, and playing unsafely on the rock ledge over the water. Kids rip through on their bicycles too which I m sure they enjoy but when it gets dark, and no lights, can be hard to see - so drive slow (speed limit is 3 mph throughout). That s my only qualm. It was perfectly quiet at night with quiet hours 10pm-8am, but would be nice is parents had a closer watch of their kids so everyone could enjoy their slice of nature how they intended.Nearby activities: HikingNoteworthy details: Pay for Wi-fi $20. Firewood bundles available on-site for $10. Camp store has free coffee and hot water 8am-8pm, also sells swag (hats, shirts, hoodies, mugs), chips, eggs, snacks, etc.

We camped in our 37' fifth wheel and it was an amazing experience! No cell reception in this area of Big Sur, but not far north of this local, there is! We can't say enough about the hospitality and friendliness of the staff! Upon checkin, we were given a welcome gift that includes thoughtful gifts for campers! The grounds, restrooms, showers, playground (including basketball courts) were well maintained and clean! We will be back and planning to return with our kids and grandkids to make memories! Great spot for families! (And dog friendly!!)Walkability: Lots of great hiking a short drive awY, but walking distance provides a great reataurant, bar and small general store.Food & drinks: Very good restaurant and bar with indoor and outdoor dining riverside. In fact, it's called the Riverside! We enjoyed delicious steak dinners, but there was much more!!

Unfortunately there is not a lot of offer in Big Sur. Considering the high price, could be much better:-If you arrive after 7pm (online they claim 8pm), you will have no wood for a bonfire.-They charge you 30$ for a kit of 2 mugs and a flashlight which we didn t need, just adds more waste to the planet.-No WiFi, which can be a problem as there is no cellphone reception.-Cabin 064 had no duvet for the sofa bed, so we were cold. The sofa bed was dirty too.-Receptionist was quite rude over the phone.

We stayed for our wedding anniversary Sept 18-20. Staffs were so friendly. Place was easy to locate. Location is near to restaurants. Cabin was super clean and cozy. They provided a lot of towels too. They even gave us cute mugs as a souvenir. Coffee in the morning was free! Ice was free too! The smell of the woods was breathtaking. Just wished there is a restaurant inside. Definitely will go back.

We have been coming to this place off and on for 30+ years have enjoyed every visit kids always enjoyed the playground and what used to be called happy hour where they could get two ice cream cones for the price of one I've camped in tents and stayed in some of the cabins it's been a great place for us to visit and gi to the surrounding areas it was a very reasonable priced place to camp but recently tent sites have been out if our reach and have stayed closer to home instead of visiting this beautiful area if California we were planning on coming up this year saved up but now looks like with the road closures we wont be able to visit maybe next year and maybe even the new owners will rethink their $100+ tent sites and no happy hour and please no RESORT FEES we could shower for free before and I could buy or bring my own cups tea coffee and hot chocolate and buy firewood kind of strange to charge a RESORT fee to use the facilities that used to be free but nowadays anyway to price people out of where they llked to go

Really sorry to say that this place has as its primary driver making lots of money out of clients. Charges $25 for their resort pack (two mugs a torch and some wood). When we said that we were not in need of this, we were told that it was compulsory. Free tea and coffee from 8 o clock the next morning but had to leave at 6:30 so we couldn t even use the mugs! Had to ask for firefighter and matches which were not spontaneously offered and please note that there is no Wi-Fi available in this resort ..no surprise they charge $20 for access to the Wi-Fi and you have to be stood next to the office. Even the staff seem to be uncomfortable with these money making schemes.

Extremely fun and community-type of campground with lots of local Big Sur outdoors attractions close by. The only thing I can complain about is the wi-fi only being available in one area. But, we're here to disconnect and enjoy nature so it's not much of an issue unless you're expecting big news/ emergencies Go camp here, bring a few friends/ family and enjoy a few days of the beautiful animals, river, beaches, hikes and make some fun memories.

If you are seeking a place to stay in Big Sur, this place is incredible and an absolute MUST stay. My girlfriend and I lodged/visited numerous places throughout our trip in CA, but this was by far our favorite stay of all. Considering we spent most of our time enjoying the outdoors, the cabin we stayed in topped off the Big Sur experience! The cabin/campground was well-maintained, spacious, spotless, and truly a hidden gem. There are many reviews on here that notate the lack of amenities, but most don t understand how desolate the Big Sur area is. I can personally say I expected much less for a campground. But the amount of sites, and different stay options can appeal to anyone. The staff on-site made us feel at home and were super welcoming. I want to give a shout out to Max (I believe he is a site manager) - he was very knowledgeable of the area and recommended numerous sight seeing/hiking/dinning options. We are so glad to have crossed paths with him!We loved Big Sur, but it would not have been the same if we didn t stay here. 100% made the trip truly memorable.

We just returned from a wonderful trip in Big Sur and stayed here. We rented a cabin and an RV site. The campground amenities where fantastic and the cabin beds were dreamy. My kids loved rafting on the river (rafts are provided at no cost to guests). The place is super clean and very family friendly. The staff is overly helpful and accommodating. We left two bags of dirty laundry by mistake and Max helped us locate them and mailed them back to our home in San Diego at NO COST. By the time we got home they had already been delivered. I can't say enough positive things about this place and we will definitely be back next year. Thank you for making our summer vacation amazing!

Wow, this was our favorite place in the area to camp, I'm disturbed to read in the latest reviews that an out of state interest bought the place for 28 million, and has doubled prices to try to make it a cash cow. Funny thing is my wife and I have always talked about buying the place when we won the lottery and LOWERING the prices so more people could enjoy it. Looking into surrounding area opportunities this year.** This is our very most favorite place to stay in the Big Sur area! We have tried all the modes of camping here, the tent spaces are great and we have always managed to get something along the river, their cabins are really cool, and offer many different amenities unit to unit, and they have plug in spaces too! They even have a laundry room and private/ public showers for everyone too! Add to this free coffee and soft serve cones for the kiddies and idk how this place could get any cooler. This really is an awesome place to stay, a little pricey but way worth it in my family's opinion.

This place holds a special place in my heart as I came here many times as a kid. But I'm happy to report 20 years later it's just as great. The camp itself is small, but the sites are spacious and every site is beautifully shaded by old growth redwoods. This time we booked an A Frame cabin, but they offer tent and RV sites as well. The cabin was beautiful and comfortable. Well appointed with a kitchen, wood burning stove and three comfy beds. The campground offers playground, basketball courts, laundry, innertubes for rent and free coffee/coco every morning. We will be back soon!

My wife and I lucked out with a last minute camp spot at Big Sur Camground & Cabins after we decided to cancel at another nearby campground that did not offer electric. The staff was super friendly from the start, provided us with a really cool gift bag, and made sure we felt comfortable. The facilities (shower, bathroom, laundry, etc) were extremely clean and the playground kept my kids entertained! I loved the unlimited bags of ice and the clean, high quality, dry firewood was very convenient. I'm not going to ding them for this, but we stayed in site #85 at the entrance. The location was cool, but it was directly across from the community dump station. At any given time, campers were emptying their tanks and it made it almost intolerable to sit outside in the heat as the smell of septic was there. Again, not dinging them as we got in and enjoyed everything else. Just happy they even had a dump spot, but perhaps consider a different spot? We will be booking here again for next summer!

I don't understand how this place has so many good reviews. We paid $155 per night for the worst campsite I've ever camped at. No exaggeration. Yes, the place does have a playground, basketball court, warm showers, river access and "free" tubbing. But each site is on top of the other. Maybe if you've never camped before and you're not sure whether it's for you or not, this may be an okay option. Otherwise, I would avoid like the plague.

We got unlucky and had a very aggressive neighbor at the campsite next to us. He threatened me and our dogs safety. The campsites are beautiful but very close together and they did not communicate that dogs need to be on a leash at all times. Our extremely friendly labs tried to say hi to our neighbor and he yelled at them very aggressively and then complained to management instead of letting me know his discomfort level so I could adjust accordingly. The campsite does not allow for wide open spaces or a natural freedom that I would expect when camping it s more like a stuffy resort with lots of rules so if that s what you would like then this would be good. When our neighbor threatened that he would hurt the dogs if they bark at 630 am or come over to his campsite again I let management know. I so much appreciate them offering to move us to another site or a refund. Our young children were very sad but we decided to leave since we didn t feel safe. I hope that the staff with make sure the aggressive guy doesn t hurt anyone else at the campsite. I will never come here again!!

My 2 daughters and I stayed at one of the cabins and were extremely impressed!! If we could leave a 10 star review we would. We recieved a couple keepsake mugs to keep at check in, and a care package with a little flashlight and deck of cards. Such a great touch! The water pressure in the shower was wonderful with a state of the art shower head! We stayed at the Four Seasons the last night of our travels and we all agreed hands down that the beds at our cabin were more comfortable! The sheets were extremely soft, pillows were like heaven!! We had all the luxury's of a 5 star hotel in a wonderful cabin in the woods! When I asked the girls what their favorite part of the trip was, they say it was their stay here! Each cabin has their own fire pit outside and the girls and I roasted marshmallows and talked after dark. Wonderful stay!

This is one of the nicest campsites I ve stayed at! They give you complimentary cups, firewood, ice, coffee, playing cards, and the showers are not only free but clean, hot, and stocked with shampoo and body wash. I was super impressed. The staff is friendly and helpful. And the campsites were awesome and all had great views of the river! Can t wait to come back in summer so we can float on the river. 10/10
