My car is over 10 years old and I have been taking it to Walsh Brothers for at least the last 7 years. I have found them to be consistently professional and straightforward regarding pricing and repairs that are absolutely necessary and ones that can wait. Over the years I have also compared pricing for basic services like new brakes on a Mazda 3, for example, and although nobody does it inexpensively, I found Walsh Brothers pricing to consistently be hundreds of dollars less than others for comparable work. Like a good dentist, it's nice to know someone who's familiar with your setup and history and realizes that repeat customers are more important than a quick buck. Looking forward to my next visit.

Lower prices than almost any other mechanic and some of the best service. I recently took my car in to get the windows switches fixed which I thought might be a serious problem and they fixed it very rapidly and didn t even charge me. Thanks Walsh Brothers, Amazing!

I have been taking my card for repair to Walsh brothers for over 10 years. First with my Vovlvos and then my VW and Mercedes.I always got high quality workmanship, and very reasonable price. I got blown head gasket to transmission repair from them. I recommended to my friendsI just found out that they moved to Ashby. Walsh brothers would be my first choice for any car repair.Service: Auto water leak repair

When I got my first Volvo in 2000, I was going to the dealer for service only to learn the cost was crazy. Then I discovered Walsh and the car part of my life is perfect. I feel so safe in my 2004 S60. So, it s now 2023 - I m still loving my forever car because they take such good care of it! And I love their new location- they re my ohana

Their work is excellent, they deliver on time, the crew is personable & friendly and the prices are more than fair. I've lived in Berkeley now for 30 years and I can say they are probably the best independent garage in town.

January 19, 2024. I had my service done on my S70. The car was not starting in cold California weather. With a new Fuel Pump Relay we are now starting and running smoothly. Walsh Bros has consistently done a great job with my car, and I'm happy to have found them as my regular mechanic.I bought a used C30 and brought it to Walsh Bros for an inspection. They did a thorough, quick job and were open and communicative throughout the whole process.Later on when a tiny crack on my coolant case grew and began to leak, Louise the owner stayed behind after closing to make sure I could bring my car in and have it ready the next day.Overall the quality of work has been very good, and they've been extremely open, pleasant and easy to work with.Service: General repairs & maintenance

My son had used Walsh Brothers Volvo services and was very pleased. I've since entrusted them with my two Volvos and couldn't be happier with their expertise and professionalism. They may have already saved me an unneeded transmission replacement on one of my cars. And they may have saved my entire second older car from extinction, by making an inexpensive repair that allowed the vehicle to pass smog inspection, after it had failed a first time. This is the best auto repair shop I have ever been too. I just got my car today I have a 2005 s60 and they had to replace the solenoids on this car difficult situation. However no problem or issues for them. They made the service super easy and kept me updated and as well besides that service. They were able to check a few other things on the car and fixed them. As well they offered great feedback and opinions on what you should do. They are not looking for money they are a genuine business who look for the enjoyment of helping people get their cars back on the food leaving them better than new.Service: Engine repair

I got my problem taken care of and my engine runs well now. They did it promptly. They took care of all the little details, too. I ve been going to Walsh for years, for my Volvo and my Toyota. Awesome service and customer experience from Walsh Brothers! Brought my Volvo there for servicing and was back on the road the same day. My Dad was a regular at the Walsh Bros right before he moved to Georgia. He always told me that they went above and beyond with his Volvo Suv. Not to mention that they were friendly and had great customer service skills.So I took my s70 to their shop and was warmly greeted by the owner named Louise. She was undeniably sweet and welcoming. The repairs I wanted to fix was explained thoroughly and at a fair price.There were some unexpected issues that needed to be addressed but a costly repair I wasn't expecting which was a rotor replacement. That was crucial as I will be relocating to Texas in a week from now. Luckily, she worked with me and gave me an awesome deal. This isn't your atypical mechanic shop who are blood thirsty for every penny you've got. They truly are genuine people who look after their own. Walsh Bros are also fantastic with vehicles that are not Volvos. When I recently took a job in the area, they were recommended by a family member. They take great care of my 2017 Ram and my grandma car, a 2000 Buick Lasabre. They never up-sale me with stuff I don't need. Last time I went in for a tune up & they pointed out a problem with my tire that could have been fatal if I got the freeway without fixing it.They are kind, listen well, honest and family business...and woman owned. They rock!

My neighbor recommended Walsh Bros. I have an older car (but low miles/low maintenance) and was focused on ensuring it was safe, not perfect. They advised on what was needed v. what might be nice. If you own a Volvo, this is definitely the place to take it. Great customer service and amazingly fast and efficient work performed by very experienced technicians. These guys work on Volvos all day every day so you can trust they ll get it fixed right.

Walsh Brothers is the best mechanic in town. They were knowledgeable, super friendly, charged reasonable prices, and we ended up getting our car back, fully repaired, just a few hours after we dropped it off. Walsh brothers provides the best service with impeccable communication. No other mechanical shop I have ever been to has such good customer service. MY car was towed here after a part failure. The service adviser, and his colleagues, were kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. While I agreed to some necessary additional work, I did not feel under any pressure and was able to discuss it in a reasonable manner. I will definitely be recommending Walsh Brothers to friends and colleagues and will continue to bring my car here while I am locally resident.

As a long-time customer of Walsh Brothers auto service I have had only positive experiences with this family-owned shop. Recently had a careful diagnosis of a failing alternator with a quality replacement installed promptly. I have complete confidence in these folks, both for technical know-how and honest treatment. Walsh Brothers is a highly professional, polite, and experienced auto repair establishment. They seem to Always do their best to work me in to their schedule, perform quality service and get my Volvo on the road again. Also, I feel their prices are fair! I highly recommend them.

I have brought Volvos in for everything from maintenance to large repairs, and each visit has been informative, timely, and affordable. With the polite, talkative staff returning for more work down the road is never an inconvenience. It is one of my favorite mom and pop shops, maintaining classics all the way to modern Volvos.

This was my first experience with Walsh Brothers Inc. The shop was recommended by AAA, as it is an AAA certified shop.The cost of service was extremely reasonable. The quality of the work was quite satisfactory. The thorough evaluation of the over-all condition of the vehicle and the knowledge ascertain, considering the mechanic had no prior information of the car's history, was impressive.Walsh Brothers Inc. will be my go-to-space for future vehicle upkeep and repairs. I ve tried out a number of shops in the area, If you have a Volvo 240 or any other older Volvo, this is the shop. I m hesitant to have many shops work on my vintage 244 and it was apparent when talking to these folks that they knew exactly what to do with it. Prices were excellent, work was prompt, employees were very nice. They were not alarmist about small leaks and imperfections; their threshold for what actually needs attention seems pretty spot on. Will be returning to Walsh brothers in the future for any jobs I cannot complete myself at home. recommended to me by other Volvo/Saab mechanics, now I highly recommend them to you.

I have taken both my mother's Volvo XC90 and my Toyota 4Runner to Walsh Brothers, and I can't say enough nice things about Louise, Betsy, and Valerie (and their mechanics, and anyone whose name I missed!). What a thorough, skilled, kind, and -- above all -- highly ethical group of people. I give this shop my highest recommendation, and while I do not love problems with my car, I do love knowing I can count on Walsh Brothers to make sure they get fixed.Thank you!

I had my CV boots and suspension bearings/mounts replaced here for my Volvo S40 2001. While the suspension was done correctly, the CV boots were not, and the inner CV boot lost a ton of grease. When I inspected the boot, I saw that the clamp had not been tightened all the way -- I had to repack the CV joint and reclamp, which was a real pain since the boot lip needs to be very clean for no grease to leak past. To give credit where it's due, the outer CV boots are not leaking (for now), but for how much I spent for this repair, I wish it would have been done properly.Do not recommend this place for CV boot maintenance.Service: Auto maintenance
