Highly recommend Tim Doherty at Husteads Auto Body on Durant in Berkeley. A window regulator broke in my Audi A3. Tim came out to greet me as soon as I pulled up. He ordered the part, called me the next afternoon to say the part had arrived, and got me in the following morning to replace it. I was able to wait for my car while the work was being done and Tim kept me apprised at each stage of the repair. Less than 90 minutes later I was back on the road but not before Tim made sure every smudge was gone from the window. He's a really good guy and a total pro. Ask for Tim!

My daughter goes to UC Berkeley but we're in Los Angeles, so when her bumper came partially off, I looked up an auto body shop near her. Husteads was right down the street and they took great care of her. They fixed the bumper in about 10 minutes while she sat in the car which was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a safer or better process and will always take the car to them. Thank you Husteads!Service: Body & Trim

I had a great experience with the team here. I scraped up part of my front bumper and came in to get a repair estimate. Melinda came out immediately to greet me, and she was able to have Julian and Cobo fix the issues right there. Melinda helped me 1) to get the scrape fixed so you can barely see it and also fixed some misalignment in the bumper/wheel area, 2) to avoid having to deal with my insurance company and 3) saved me over $500 dollars in deductible. All of this in 15 minutes and at no cost. Thank you!

I brought my car in for an estimate as the front passenger bumper panel got bent making a metal-on-metal crunching sound every time the door was opened. The person doing the estimate called one of the workers out from the shop. He bent the panel back in shape right then and there and it was done. They refused my offer of payment. They could easily have given me a quote and had me leave the car for an expensive repair. I wouldn't have known any better. I appreciate them taking care of the problem so quickly and cheaply!Service: Body & Trim

Literally the most amazing place ever - I came in at 11 to get an estimate on a repair to my front bumper grill. They priced me at around $400 for the part + installation, and of course I asked if there was any cheaper option. They quickly referred me to Levan Auto Parts in Oakland, and I was able to get the part in less than 30 minutes from them and the lovely woman working the front desk (for $80 too!!). The BEST THING ABOUT THIS PLACE!!! When I brought the part back, I told them that they had initially said the bumper wouldn't need to come off to install it. It did end up coming off - AND THEY DIDN'T CHARGE ME FOR INSTALLATION (easily 200$) !!!!!!!!!! These people are so dedicated to fixing your car despite any personal financial hardships, and it shows. this came at a perfect time for a broke college student (: thank you again!!!

(Update) The director of ops called me and offered to help make it right. I am pleased to know that this customer service exists. btw they didn't tell me to take the review down or anything either.Took my car here to get body shop repair since it was close and had good reviews. Honestly, not the best experience I've had with a body shop and will likely not return. After taking some time to fix the car (about 3 weeks, which not entirely Hustead's fault since parts have to come in), I finally got it back and there was seemingly one fault after another. WHICH when you get your car back after having a repair is not the best feeling in the world.1) The engine light came on as he was delivering the car. It was a code that hadn't been cleared, but like c'mon why isn't this checked and cleared before I get the car. Still made me nervous as to if there's something going on that's actually an issue or if they didn't do something right.2) I find out the horn isn't working and the ambient temp sensor. I take it back and they look at the horn thru the grill and see it's connected and check fuses, they look good. I'm told that the horn is faulty and I'll have to buy a new one (quoted $120 for a $60 horn). At this point, I decided to do the repair myself because it was fairly easy and I didn't want to have them sit on my car for another week while I'm paying rental and needed to be out of the state. When go to take off my bumper to install the new parts, I notice there's a cable that' just hanging loose. The techs didn't plug the cables together! So simple!What's frustrating is that had the technicians followed the checklist that was left in the front seat of the car (one of which says 'horn') that QA's to make sure everything in the car is in working order, they could have solved this right away. Now I'm out 20% of the cost of the parts that I ordered since I'm charged a restocking fee. Honestly, the bumper was easy enough to take off for an amateur that they could have done it when I brought the car back and checked themselves instead of being lazy and looking thru the grill with a flashlight (the cables were on the other side of where the horn was btw). It was just laziness and poor workmanship.Very disappointed in the experience. (BTW Melinda is super nice though.. and if you come here I hope that they've improved on their QA'ing before returning the car).Services: Auto engine diagnostic, Body & Trim

This is the best place I've ever had a car worked on. The work they do is immaculate professional fast and they return your car looking stock. They have my car in and out of there in no time looking fantastic. Not to mention they clean the inside and outside with a full detail and on my way out the door handing me a bottle of wine. Can't beat that from now on that's the only place I will go to for any insurance or non insurance body work.

The staff are quite helpful but the shop does not have a qualified quality control team to check the final work before delivery to the customer. They performed a terrible assembly on the fender with after market item which I discovered at the pick up time. This created 3 days of rework for them and leaving me with no vehicle for additional 5 days with no reimbursement.

EXCELLENT SERVICE!!! I recently brought my 2012 Chevy Tahoe that I purchased from Carvana to Hustead s auto body for a door handle repair and to correct some paint overspray. They were listed as an approved auto shop for any repairs under warranty. After the other approved shop could not perform the repair, I brought it to Hustead s auto body and was promptly met by Melanie who was cordial, professional, and efficient which was greatly appreciated as I was on my way to work. I was then handed over to Julian who was also very professional/efficient and got my estimate underway. I dropped off my truck for one day and it came back with the door handle working perfectly, no paint overspray, and washed clean which was a pleasent surprise. I deeply regret to say I cannot remember my mechanic s name (insert faceplam here) who was also equally amazing and professional. I am a mobile veterinarian and my truck is essential in providing my patients with a similar level of care. Hustead auto body s team went over and above to provide an excellent experience and I can t thank them enough. 11/10 experience all the way!Service: Body & Trim

They were fast, polite and handled everything with a minimum of fuss. Would have been a 5 star except a fender liner wasn't properly fastened when I picked up the car which necessitated a return visit to have it fixed. They took care of that promptly as well, but I can't give a 5 star rating when the car had to be brought back the same day I picked it up. I'm willing to accept this was probably a fluke and would definitely come here again.

Terrible business, terrible service. This outfit failed to repair my car, despite making attempts to do so on SIX DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. Each time, they claimed it was fixed, and each time, they took the car back to work on, admitting as much! What kind of shop puts a person back into a car, knowing it's not fixed, claiming it is, and then doing it again, FIVE MORE times?!One year and four days from the start of this ordeal, still no car. These people are unprofessional, irresponsible, and DO NOT CARE - BLACK LIVES apparently DON'T MATTER to these people!

I was referred to Hustead Auto Collison by my insurance company. I received a call from Melinda to schedule an appointment. Service date scheduled, vehicle was taken to the shop, promised to have vehicle completed by Friday. Friday my vehicle was repaired and ready for pickup. My vehicle looked great. Easy low contact process. I would recommend Hustead.Service: Painting

How often is it when you find a group of real good nice folks in the automotive indistry? Seem harder and harder these days for sure.. But Husteads hits diamond standard when it comes to service...hands down! Wife got hit by someone and of ccocou I had to deal with it as it's the "man's" duty to do so. I actually live out of area but had a three day window to work near this shop in Berkeley. Man, they nailed it on every level of my frusrations and really helped me out. From drop off, to car rental to updates and pickup, they made it so easy for me. It was a like having a personal assistant...but I dont roll like that. Thank you Hustead! I'm so satisfied with their caring and professional service in my time of need. There's a reason why they are BerkeleysB oldest shop, 80 years and counting!Im a HUGE fan!!!

My wife left her car here for repairs. They returned the car with some minor damage. They accepted responsibility for some, but not all of the damage. In addition, they had a condescending attitude.

Bad costumer service, marginal craftsmanship. Won t recommend to anyone for future work. If your insurance suggest you take your car here, tell them you want another shop.
