I took my 50 year-old Austin Healey engine to Robert at RNR Custom Engines for block, head, rods, and crank machining. Robert builds race engines and I was concerned that, although he was recommended to me, he wouldn't want to deal with a tiny 1275cc motor. But I was wrong. Robert told me he loves these old British motors and even had the smaller boring and honing tools needed. He was VERY helpful, gave me a tour of the shop that has cool CNC machines. He also took measurements while I was there and we learned that the engine was an unmolested original - a perfect rebuild candidate. I was disappointed that wait time was 6+ weeks (he has a lot of work in his shop), but the end-result was well worth the wait. I checked all the machine tolerances after I got the parts back and they were consistent across the board. If you are not in a hurry, I highly recommend Robert and RNR Custom Engines!

Absolutely horrible experience I took my 6.7 Cummins cylinder head to these guys waited 3 months paid to have them clean it only to tell me it was cracked which could have easily been done prior so I brought them another one and gave them the benefit of the doubt waited three months calling for the last month off and on getting the same excuse every week finally I called them out after he said all right it's in the CNC, oh well no we'll try to get it in today I told them that I had contacted multiple other shops all which had not had this wait he proceeded to get furious and tell me I didn't know what I was talking about(same as in his other reviews) demanding I tell him the names of the shops,I told him I'm on my way to pick it up when I arrived both of my heads were sitting outside on the pavement very aware due to medical issues that I could not lift these by myself nor should anyonr he sat there in his chair 3 feet away continuously asking if I was done while I loaded them by myself if he runs his business like this he should be ashamed of himself i would never treat someone like that horrible and unprofessional every time I've ever come in there he's sitting on the couch ( four hours later he is calling those other shops trying to slander me which are extremely loyal and called me immediately after to make sure I was aware ) just be aware and make your choice

Had these guys do a full machine job on my Iron block 5.7L LS. Full rotating assembly balance, bore, new pistons, cam bearings, crank bearings, rod bearings and stressed I would be adding boost down the road. They made a few honest mistakes a long the way but 100% owned up to them and made it right. Picked up the finished block and rotating assembly about 6 months ago. I put the entire engine together myself sense then and am extremely happy with all the machine work. Tolerances were dead on when it was going together. Runs flawlessly, perfect oil pressure and extremely quiet. Thanks again guys. I will be back!

Really happy with the engine work RNR Custom Engines performed! Upon my initial visit to the shop, Robert and Richard took the time to walk me around their shop, and show me the machines and the process they would use to complete the work on my engine block. I decided to have them clean, bore, deck, and clearance my block for a stroker crank and new rods and pistons. The work took a little longer than anticipated, and they are not lowest-cost shop compared to others I visited in the valley. But the quality of workmanship, as well as their commitment to providing great customer support, even after the work was done was well worth the time and money. If you are looking for an honest shop to do quality work, this is the engine shop to use in Phoenix.

This machine shop is a joke. Had a 6.7 Cummins head for over 2 months, kept giving our mechanic a run around on when it would be completed only for them to do nothing but let it get rusted. 10/10 would not recommend working with them at all.

Absolutely horrible unprofessional experience paid for something that was not done then was left outside to rust sat in his chair and watch me asking if I was done until I loaded everything up myself after it took them 6 months with no work to show for it

At RNR the quality and standards that they uphold are unchallenged in the entire valley. I love the work they have done and how they pay attention to every small detail. Great things take time and can t be rushed. They use the most up to date equipment out of all the shops in the immediate area. From a CNC Mill to an automatic hone, RNR has it all. I can never say enough about the quality of work these great guys provide!

After telling Rich and Robert my make, model, year, and engine information; they quoted $1650 (plus tax) to bring in long block and pickup long block (with 7 day turnaround). While bringing it in; they mentioned that mine was standard with 'roller cams' which they clearly already knew (b/c it comes standard). After not hearing back for 5 days; I called and they said they would clean and measure engine parts in the next day and contact me back. No calls until I called the middle of the following week (10 days later). Still no information. He said he was sitting down to write up my file and send me information. Nothing arrived that day; next day (13 days, now) I got estimate with >25% increase on original estimate (which was made knowing my make/model/year/engine). ((reminder; this was a running engine with good core and no broken/missing parts)). Now they won't meet their original estimate! There is no difference in the engine as quoted/inspected! AND NOW they want to charge me nearly $200 for "cleaning" and "measuring" and not doing the machine work. I would rather they met their original quote or I will be contacting the BBB and other authorities. <<As well as documenting/sharing my experience with everyone>>

These guys are great to work with! Very knowledgeable and make things right even if the vendors send the wrong parts. Upgraded my camshaft. Melling sent the camshaft incomplete and R n R upgraded me to a comp cam for no charge. Melling dropped the ball for sure, but these guys made it right. Diffidently recommend them for engine work.(Jon Hershberger)

Best experience ever! Long story but short I broke a cam cap bolt inside of my head. I tried using a ez out but I broke two drill bits in the process. And adding to that I drilled the hole all crooked so then i said to my self I'll let the pros deal with it. So I took it to RNR and they quoted me $400 just to get everything fixed with extracting out two broken drill bit and re-aligning the hole then tap it on top of that line hone the cam caps. I was like gosh that a lot but then the gentlemen asked if I can source another head I say I can for $200 and then on top I asked if I can get the head decked and vat he said $120 (this was my choosing). He said to save you a little money that's the way I should go. That's what I did. Honestly these guys are very honest and knowledgeable in engine building. These will be my go to guys for a every long time with any engine work I need. Thanks RNR you have a happy customer!

This honest and ethical family-run business has worked on my cars and engines for over 10 years. Can't say enough good things about them. Check out the video of my rebuilt Olds 455 on their website. They were able to dial in the fuel injection on their run stand.

I had the motor pulled and delivered it to RNR for over haul. The 1970 Dodge 360 had seen better days. The valves were worn and required replacement, One piston the Pin was worn and a rod had to be replaced. The valve Train was complete worn out and was replaced. When the assembly of the motor started I happen to be there. I spent the last 12 years being a Quality Test Engineer. I watched as the motor was being put to gather. The process stopped when the mains bearing Clearance was barley out. The block was the line honed or bored. I had to leave. What I watched was craftsmanship at it finesse. These Guys strive to put out the best product. The motor was installed for me at Ace Auto Repair. I then did my best to put a few miles on the car before i took it to California to the Mopar Spring Fling. On the way to the show I lost a Rod Bearing. I brought the car home and stopped by RNR to let them hear the Motor to determine the Issue as I was not totally sure of the problem.RNR pulled the motor replaced the Crank shaft and the Rods and reinstalled the motor free of charge. They even held up finishing the job to allow me to change out the power steering box.I you are looking for a Class Act in the Motor Rebuild Sector of our world Talk to these Guys as I feel they are the best that I have had the pleasure to do business with.

Awesome guys to deal with, really knowledgeable and top notch quality. Very pleasant experience having my Diesel engine machined. They took the extra time from their day to explain what I needed and why it was the best option. Would highly recommend to anyone in need of a machine shop. I ll be coming back for all my engine work. Thanks RnR

These guys were great to deal with and stand behind their work. You get what you pay for and RNR is worth paying a few extra bucks to get quality work and support. With their open door policy I was able to watch my engine get built!

Built engines well. But don't expect it quick. Running a thousand horses on my 2JZ that they help build the bottom end.

They have always been super flexible, from the simple to custom parts. When a half dozen machine shops in the valley wouldn't touch my dragbike parts, these guys came through for me in a big way.

Worst experience ever! Took forever, engine had no power and then seized. They broke my block, replaced it with junkyard block, didn't sonic test, which I had indicated as an absolute must . Never again.
