John with the 1 star ratings was never customers of Hansen s Transmission. Travis was a customer who couldn t afford all the repairs. He burnt his transmission and broke his rear diff. Ricki taught Hansen Transmission a very valuable lesson of DO NOT work on vehicles beyond your expertise no matter the situation. Hansen transmission is very sorry for that mistake and will not repeat that in the future.Hansen only has 2 employees and answering phones/talking with customer can be difficult at times especially when Hansen s gets 100+ phone calls a day. Also yes sometimes it is cheaper to buy a transmission from the dealer. You re paying for OEM replacement. No upgraded, billet, or hardened parts. It s all factory reman. Please understand that Hansens Transmission is only capable of maybe rebuilding 300-400 transmission a year and the population is increasing. Also we live in Alaska where parts are scarce and shipping can take forever. Time frames vary drastically based on part availability.Anyone with other questions feel free to come down to the shop and ask.

I had Hansen to a clutch for me. They had the car for over two months, charged me for the work and gave me my car back without doing the work. My clutch gave out on the highway and I had to have it towed back to them. It took another month for it to actually be done. Never got reimbursed for the tow. They were also supposed to do the rear main seal, they gave back the car and said flat out "we're not doing it". Oh, and they sold me a bad battery.Up there with the worst of experiences Ive had with mechanics.Service: Transmission

My reviews haven t been posting here for some reason, so I dropped it off for transmission work. Matt claimed my transmission was fine and it was just the rear end. I paid 3000$ for my rear end to be rebuilt. They call and tell me it s ready, I go to pick it up and the electronic rear differential lock is stuck on and wouldn t drive when I put it into drive. They then had a contracted a 3rd party for diagnosis which took a few months to get to then the 3rd party had said that the transmission actually is bad and the rear differential control module is stuck. So I paid 3000$ for bad diagnosis and unfinished work.I was then informed right after the 3rd party had diagnosed it, that they are no longer working on foreign vehicles lol

The E4OD transmission in my Quigley went out about a month ago. I called several auto repair shops and learned that they farm their transmission rebuilds out to Hansen. I had looked around, and everything I could find led me to determine that this was the best place in town. It took a while for them to get it done, but they did excellent work! The transmission looks like new, and they made sure I had all gaskets and explained what I needed to know before I installed it back in the van. Their work comes with a one year warranty, but I don't expect to need it.All in all, I would recommend them to anyone needing their transmission rebuilt.

I recently brought in a C6 for an older F250 plow truck. The trans was completely trashed, the converter was coming apart and shredding everything. They offered the best price for a bench-top rebuild w/ a new converter and had it back to me in a few days. Every time I called and every person I talked to there was nice, honest, and delivered great service. My truck is now solid and runs like a champ. I will definitely use them again for other projects and refer others to this shop. They do a lot of race car work too. Great service!Service: Transmission

Wonderful guys. Busy and busy is good. I dropped an older suzuki 5spd off at them with a rebuild kit and they had it handy and fastened within two weeks which is quite expedient. Chris even showed me the gearing and internals and explained any questions I had! They got all kinds of cool stuff every and appreciated the communication. Thanks guys.

The worst place to go. They where suppose to rebuild our transmission and its been two yrs theyve had our car and always have some excuse why they haven't started on it yet.

Repaired my hard shifting Ford Excursion transmission for a reasonable price. Knocked off a star for the awkward customer service. Definitely rough around the edges with customer interaction, but by no means we're they rude. Just ask about their racing team and they will warm up:) I know some reviews comment on the condition of the waiting area, but it's a mechanic shop, not a cafe.

Classic transmission shop that has a very knowledgeable team. I had them do a bench job on my 4L80E, they had an amazing turn around time and competitive pricing. For months now it's been performing wonderfully. Money well spent for my old GMC pickup.

Do not go here no matter if it sounds like a good deal.I'm a military man, they are backstabbing and terrible at business.I had recently bought a car from M&A Auto Sales on Gamble st.they sold me car that broke down with in 4 days. They were very quick to attempt to fix the problem. The car was towed free off charge to Hansen transmission. The car is in my name, I had bought the car but the dealership was going to pay for the work being done. The dealer offered money to get all the parts ordered. the shop lied by saying they couldn't find parts, this went on for 1.5 months. shortly after the dealer and I started to investigate. We found the parts with in minutes for lower prices. Once we had ordered and delivered the parts to the shop it has taken 2 more months, and still isn't ready. Every time I was told that my car would be done, I was met with disappointment and frustration. not only were they never on time, they would call the dealership behind my back to tell them they would not talk to me since I wasn't the one paying. This has happened more times than I can bother counting. they even threaten to stop all work if I wouldn't stop calling to check in which I was told to on every occasion by their technicians. when I would call I was told they wouldn't speak to me. keep in mind I'm a military man with honor and respect, I was not rude to them ONCE! it has been 4 months.

These guys really know their stuff and are customer oriented. They started the conversation with me by saying that they wanted to diagnose the problem and not just order a new transmission. My bill was 1/4 the cost of a rebuilt transmission!

Very personable. And I trust their work. I brought them in a 96 Buick and they fixed my heater in 3 hours and it is working better than heaters in most new cars.

Hansens looked at my car and said it wasn t worth fixing. They said it it would be ok if I left it in their lot for the time being because it wouldn t drive. Hansen s then had it towed by Greatland WITHOUT contacting me first or at least giving me a warning. I now have a VERY EXPENSIVE BILL from the towing company and when I called Hansens they blatantly lied and said they tried to contact me. They were VERY rude and I don t like liars. I would not trust their service by their very aloof behavior. What a very rude thing to do!

I wouldn't bring my car here if someone paid me to do it! My buddy has had his car there for about 3 months now and it still isn't fixed! He was told on 28-Oct-15 that his car would be fixed and ready for him to pick up on 29-Oct-15. Well he called today (29-Oct-15) and he was told "We haven't started working on your car yet and it should be done on 30-Oct-15 or Monday 2-Nov-15". Who the hell does business like that? This is not a place I would take any of my vehicles. You couldn't pay me enough to use their business! #shittybusiness

Phoned the day before and was told to bring in at 8am. Brought my car in next day and was told that they were busy and could not do the tranny oil change until sometime later in the day. I have no ride and could not set anything up early in the morning. Apparently too many business,s nowadays think that your time is not important just theirs. Terrible customer service

Problem was quickly diagnosed, was told it would get around to the next day, but ended up only taking a couple hours. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable and understanding of the hard times people get into without a vehicle. They got me on the road in no time!

Hard time getting through to someone. Once I did, it was more than 1000 dollars cheaper for me to just buy a new transmission for my ram.
