I like the place. They care. Not always the fastest to turn a car around, but the vehicle comes out sweet. Great guys to work with. My Jeep and my Willys run great now. 1976 cj and 1954 Willys wagon, 82 Scrambler, Mahindra Roxors, and other vehicles: Dan Koch, Alabama Adventure & Splash Adventure. Lots of cool pictures attached of vehicles Hesco has improved for me. Also, just lots of random goofy photos of stuff I tossed in for a chuckle. Anyway, go to Hesco. Honest, fair, great quality, great workmanship by skilled mechanics specializing in classic, muscle and vintage cars and trucks.

If I could give negative reviews I would. They rebuilt my 6.0L V8 Chevy motor (bottom half needed a rebuild thanks to the fuel management system) and now I m looking at 2-3 grand to fix the exhaust leak that s resulted from a bolt being broken from them not paying attention and over torquing it. This is after a valve cover gasket leak (which they fixed) and issues with it not starting right (which they did not fix, since it wasn t consistent). New mechanics also found garbage work with the installation of the ignition coil while trying to replace the exhaust gasket. The best part? No on will answer their phone to actually help handle this situation, including Jeff. I m absolutely disgusted by the lack of accountability here.

Stinks I can't even get these fellas to work on my truck, when I called they acted like because of the year and model of the truck that it wasn't nice or new enough to work on. It is a truck that has custom performance modifications to the drive train with at least 10k in the motor/trans but yet is not "nice" enough to work on. They said it was too "old". That really is crazy especially after seeing that they work on other people's old beater jeeps regularly. Really just needed to find a good shop I could trust with the custom aspects of my truck. Disappointed after being referred here by a family member

My son dropped off a 1997 Acura integra type R October 5th 2021 when he was on his way home to Illinois from Florida where he bought the vehicle when he broke down in Birmingham. He had the car towed to this shop and was told it would be 2wks before they could look at it so he went and stayed with his aunt in Huntsville, AL for two weeks. When we realized the shop wasn t going to get the car fixed we had to have him flown home. It is now 1/6/22 and we had to have the car picked up and transported home without any idea of what s wrong because the shop still hadn t even diagnosed the vehicle. When my son called to inform them it was being picked up they then offered to look at it but we told them no. This is the worse experience with an automotive shop I ve ever heard of.

EDITED:I can't actually give a review yet, but here's my experience:I was told to bring the car on Nov 2nd and that I should know something in 2-3 days. When I got there I was told 3 weeks before they could look at it. It was confirmed that they looked at the car, but it's DECEMBER 12th and no one has given me the courtesy of a call back even though I've spoken to the receptionist 4 times who assured me a technition would call. That was TWO WEEKS AGO.I finally spoke with someone a couple weeks later. They weren't sure what was wrong with my car. They wanted $6000 for what might be the problem, but if that didn't fix it, it was going to cost $10K. I only paid $3000 for the car lol! The best part is how they said I would be charged storage fees if I didn't get the vehicle off their property after making me wait almost THREE MONTHS. There's definitely a breakdown in communication and a lot of work needed on their professionalism.

I have nothing but good things to say about Hesco and the people working there! My husband and I were driving from Utah to Atlanta when our car broke down in Birmingham. Even though they were busy, they fit us in and got us back on the road the next day! Not only did they fix our car, but they went above and beyond to make sure that we were taken care of while we were stuck in the city. They even called us a few days later to make sure we had made it to our destination safely and without any problems!We are SO grateful for Jeff, Joe, and everyone else who took such good care of us! This was by far the best experience we have ever had with a mechanic, and would recommend them to anyone!

As someone indicated, they do a lot of specialty high end vehicle work but it has been well worth the extra to know that the work is done right. I have been taking my now 10yr old (beater) Jeep here for 8+ years and will take my new Subaru here. Joe is great and always has the time to spend explaining anything to you. He even took my husband and son around the shops to look at all of the cars there.

I bought a lotus and it was delivered with a flat tire. Jeff came out to my house picked up the tire and brought it back the next day to put the tire on and check the pressure in the rest of the tires. He was happy to answer any question I had! I was very disappointed with this business. I had to have my car towed here the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I was told that I would get a detailed estimate the following Monday. I was fine with that. When I called Monday I was told that they had already started replacing and fixing the damaged parts to my car without my permission and without my knowledge. So I specifically said please stop working on it until I get the detailed estimate I was promised and had looked it over. The next day I decided to have my car towed to a different shop that specializes in Volkswagen and Audi cars. When I called Hesco to tell them what I had decided they informed me that my car was almost completely finished. The owner made a decision without my permission yet again and without calling to inform me what was going on. I was highly disappointed that every decision made about my car was made without my input or knowledge. And that my request for them to stop the repairs was completely ignored. This business is very unprofessional and lacks the ability to communicate with their customers. I also feel that I was taken advantage of because I am a woman. Not to mention the repairs done to my car were done wrong. I ended up having to have all the transmission fluid drained and replaced bc they used a brand that is not recommended for German cars. I also had to have the tires rebalanced and aligned bc Hesco didn't properly do that either. I do not recommend this business to anyone.

I just want to extend my extreme thanks to the Hesco Team and Jeff especially for going over and beyond to ensure my part was found. I dropped my car off on Monday morning with a crack in my transmission hose, ugh! and was told to leave my car for diagnosis. On Tuesday evening, I was called and Jeff stated, "There is nothing we can do we have searched high and low and no one can send the part." Jeff heard the disappointment in my voice and called me back in at least 45 mins and said, " I found the part all the way in New York!" I was so ecstatic! It was like a dark cloud was lifted from over me. He told me the part will be here Thursday and your car will be fixed by the time you get off work. I must say he is a man of his word. By the time I was attempting to clock out my phone rung and I was told, " Your car is ready and we are about to test drive." I couldn't get there fast enough, but anyone that knows, 5p traffic is the worse! I arrived to their shop exactly at 6p just before closing and everyone was there waiting on lil ol me. I handled my part of the deal and drove off with no problem. Thanks guys! I will recommend them to anyone I know.

These guys do some of the best work in Birmingham. That being said, when you see the Ferraris and classic cars in the parking lot you know you are going to pay a price that matches their level of quality work. Don't let the abrasive or lack of communication keep you from at least getting a written quote from their shop. On a side note, get someone to show you around their facility because it is basically an ever changing museum of mechanical genius. Custom builds, daily drivers, etc it's a pretty cool spot in the heart of downtown. If all else fails, you can walk to Good People Brewery or Regions Park and drink away your sorrows.

At last found a shop to work on my Mazda RX-8 R3 with a twin rotary. Honest diagnosis and job well done. Think it runs better than when I bought it! Thank you Jeff and crew!

I had a bolt sheared off inside my BMW motorcycle wheel. I called Wesco from Hoover and explained the situation and that I lived 90 miles south in Dadeville, AL. I spoke with Joe on the phone. He said bring it in and they would see what they could do for me. They used an easy out to remove the bolt for me quickly and wouldn't even take any money for this service. Great people at WESCO!

I have a Z-3 and a 535i and would not let anyone else touch them in Birmingham. I used to go to Tom Williams for items under warranty and they always found something to fix that did not need fixing. Anything Joe, Jeff and his folks say, I trust completely.

I grew up next door to Jeff. I remember a day when I looked out and saw a 2nd gen camaro with a blower sitting a foot out of the hood. It was Jeff. I was a kid and did the burnout hand signal..to which he happily obliged. Worked with his lil sis many years later and he still remembered. Genuinely thoughtful and kind dude who exudes knowledge.

Jeff @ HESCO is unparalleled in his infinite wisdom behind the wheel and under the hood of a car. He has been known to pull a rabbit out of a hat on many occasions. I would not hesitate to take any of my vehicles to him for any reason.Thanks, Jeff-Tim @ Rickwood Radio Service

Apparently Jim Burke Subaru won't work on modified Subaru's (so basically every WRX)... Hesco came through and even purchased the updated software so that they could diagnose my car. Skip Jim Burke and take your modified Subie here.

I have been taking my machine work to Hesco for many years. Best machine shop anywhere. Now that I no longer work on my own vehicles, I intend to entrust them with their care.
