Beware of letting AAMCO work on your vehicle. I have a Nissan versa that i brought to them for repair last june 2023. Initially they diagnosed it with transmission problem and said it will only take 3 days for them to get it done. That 3 days turned out to 3 months, and still my car not in running condition. I use that car for lyft ridesharing. If you can avoid this company, avoid them. I hope more customers comes out and report their experience with AAMCO, so that head office take issues that they have a serious problem.

They're Absolutely Horrible. When I Called About My Car. Robert Wouldn't Answer Or Speak To Me. But When My Husband Called, He Answered And Spoke To Him. My Car Wasn't Smoking At All. And They Lied About The Gasket, Didn't Stop The Problem. I Have To Keep Buying Antifreeze. Then He Says To Me. "We Don't Do That Kind Of Work." Well Why In The Hell Wouldn't, You Tell Me This Before Hand. Next Time I'll Go To "Southern Armature," They Do Excellent Work.

Stated they would do very simple computer scan and prompt, and quoted a price for the work. Decided upon my arrival that they did not want to do the work, especially when I stated the quoted price. Would not recommend. UPDATE: I took it to a dealership and they did it for free in 10 minutes. Don't let these people waste your time.

Go to a different shop. I've used an aamco before and thought of it as a respectable company. Granted they worked fast seeing I was from out of state they forgot to hook back my ground cable. When I arrived to pick it up they were off in the back jumping my car off(mind you I didn't have issues with it prior)Then when I asked they said I needed to replace my battery soon but it should charge back up.It didn't and my electric components shut down while driving and powerstearing went out. I almost ran into a wall from this. I managed to make my way back home out of state and sent the car back to be called the next day and be told it was the ground wire that wasn't hooked up.... if I'm paying over 6 grand why did I almost wreck less than 5 miles after leaving

Super helpful and quick. I came in at noon day before thanksgiving and they said they couldn t see me til Monday. I was panicked cuz I had to drive down to mobile that night for the holiday and they squeezed me in and had me set in a few hours! The pricing was very fair, will be recommending others to come here for sure.

Left my car here for a complete week (7 days) and they did nothing except confirm that my battery was dead. Still suffering from the exact same issue that led me to AAMCO 2 months & $3,000 ago

Really appreciate this place. I was there to check my transmission because my car gave me a warning said "transmission fault and service required". I went to three places including Mr. Transmission, but all of them told me I need to at least rebuild the transmission which costs over 3000 bucks, Mr. transmission didn t even lift up my car and check it. As an international student studying in UAB, I don t have that much money to rebuild it , and I almost gave up until I went to this place, the owner and manager are friendly and honestly, they suggested me to do a thorough inspection on my car and the problem might be leakage or sensor damage not the transmission itself. I listened their advice and they found several leakage issues and fixed up. They only took 2 days to repair it. I am lucky to meet those guys, thanks again.

DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION. We took our car to this location to get the transmission fixed and our car was broken into. When we alerted the staff, his response was Not my problem. File a report with the police. By the way our cameras are broke. This was either done by one of the employees or they really just don t care about their customers. Absolutely trash. After reading the positive reviews, I decided to give AAMCO a call to see if they could assess my car for a coolant leak issue. Unlike all of the other local mechanics that I called, I was told to bring my car in that same day to be assessed(vs waiting at least a week for an appointment). It turns out that the part that I was in need of was available that day(coolant hose). The next day, I received a call that the repair was made, my car was running smoothly, and it was already available for pickup. I really appreciate the excellent customer service, reasonable prices, and speedy repair. I highly recommend AAMCO!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! They will never fix it. Customer service is terrible. I took my car there and they told me to bring it back first thing in the morning. I brought it the next morning, and it sat through the whole day without being looked at. I brought it again the next day and the workers claim they didnt know that I dropped it off. They checked my car by the end of the day after I called several times. I was charged for the inspection and told to bring it back the next week I called the day before I brought it in. They said to bring it at 7:30am. That morning I dropped it off and the manager Robert (who i spoke to the day before)was not even there. I leave my information and key with the tag that they put on it the first time with all of my information. I receive a call from Robert basically telling me that he had no clue who I was even though I had spoken to him the day before and had all of my information. He then tells me that I could bring my car in and have it looked at and then to bring my car back the following Monday. I asked him why he would tell me to bring my car if he could not fix it. He then proceeds to YELL at me saying that he can t remember things that have happened the week before and he had already excepted nine cars and That it was 8:30 at this point and I should have brought my car at 7:30. I told him that my car was outside and that it had already been dropped off, but he was not there at 7:30. He tells me that he s not going to talk to me with this type of attitude and rudely puts me on hold after yelling at me for following all the directions that he told me too. Very unprofessional and unorganized. Needs new management.Service: Transmission

Took my car to Rick downtown and it was the best experience I've ever had at a repair place. He was very detailed about the issues my car was having and he educated me on my car. He recommended different people to look up that will help educate me on my car as well. I would trust my car with Rick no matter what kind of car I have. I didn't feel like he was just trying to get money out of me but he actually cares about people safety and their vehicles. Go see Rick he will give you the best deal in town and make sure its done correctly.

I will not be doing business there ever again. This shop need to be shut down. Robert doesn't know how to talk he likes to YELLING at u on the phone. He is very rude and Robert if u would have pull that weapon from up under that desk on the right side of u. That would have been the worst thing u could have done in your life.They make more then one. U did all that YELLING over the phone and once I got there u acting like u suppose to act. And to the suppose be lady owner. I don't care if Robert been doing this 40 years .It's still away to talk to people With that being said Robert u really need to thank that lieing lady because she didn't have a clue to what she was talking about. She actually save u with her lieing self . If u really think I was going to let u have a chance for u to roll back in that chair to get it off u got another coming . Oh and bi the way thru the desk would have not been accurate. AND U TOTALLY MESS UP MY CAR. If u would have told that putting after market Catalytic Converter on my car that the check engine light will continue to be on I would have paid the dealer price. Money never was an issue. Smh LISTEN TO ME PLEASE DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR THERE. Theses reviews don't mean nothing if they are not explaining what job they did. I spent over 5000 at that place and on my 3rd transmissions. It's amazing how they commit only on 5 stars

I highly recommend this location. If you want your auto fixed right the first time take it to the 6th avenue location. If you are self diagnosing your vehicle, then you might want to fix it yourself, but if you want professional, experienced mechanics to diagnose and repair your vehicle this is the place to be. Rick, Steven, and Gus, shout out to you guys. Best customer service I have had from a business that has done work for me. Also a shout out to the guys in the shop that never get recognized, you all play a big part in keeping this business successful by the great work you do. Thanks Rick for saving me money on my backup camera sensor. The dealer would have easily charged me a diagnostic fee and a labor and repair fee for what you did with the flick of a wrist. Steven my good buddy, we didn't fuss on my last shop visit, but I was so glad to see you in the shop and feeling well. My girlfriend has a 2018 Nissan Sentra and its transmission went bad at 140k miles. We took it here to have it replaced and could not have had a better experience! Stephen (Manager) made us feel welcome and engaged us in conversation. The atmosphere he provided was that of trustworthiness and not like they were there to "just take our money". He really took the time to go over financing options with us (after closing time, I might add) and made sure we were getting the best deal possible; sympathizing with our Nissan-induced pain. Rick (Owner) is always a friendly face to see as well and really cares about his business. His shop is clean, neat and organized. Rick ensures the parts going into your vehicle are those of high quality and has high expectations of his mechanics and technicians. These guys had the job done in 2 days!! Getting a new transmission is both expensive and a PAIN, but I know from first-hand experience that the AAMCO Lakeview staff will make sure you're getting the best! Great experience! Very down to earth and knowledgeable mechanics. Rick and Steven make you feel comfortable about leaving your car with them. They let you know everything thats wrong and give you all the options of repair not just the most expensive options. The two times that I've taken my Tahoe here in the past were great experiences! Excellent services and concerns. Pretty reasonable prices. These people are not rip off and really wants to help you. This is the best car service institution I ve ever been to! Rick and Steven took good care of me and my Acura. Great people, great service, great prices, super speedy! I called in before business hours thinking know one would answer. Steven picked up and and assisted me with no problem at all. When I arrived they were in all smiles and ready to assist. The manager/ owner was helpful and friendly. They took care of my problem in a timely manner and were not trying to over charge me like most places would when women entertheir facilities. I appreciate your services and would come back again and again. It feels good to have someone working on your car that will get the job done and you know you can trust. Thank you all again!

I cannot recommend the guys at AAMCO enough. Over the last 3 months, my truck has been in and out of their shop (due to my truck s issues, not AAMCO s). Each time, they were honest, fair priced, and went above and beyond to find the issue and offer a solution - whether that meant fixing it themselves or pointing me to another shop that specialized in what I needed. Stephen, Gus, and the rest of the team took great care of us!

Eric, Rick, and the team at this AAMCO location do great work and are professional in all aspects of service. My transmission failed and left me stranded. Called this AAMCO and they recommended a tow service and called me early the next day with service options. I even called a relative who is an expert in all things auto for a second opinion and he told me it sounded like a good deal. My car shifts gears smoothly now and I have a 3 year warranty on this transmission work. This staff went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of as a customer and it is greatly appreciated. I cannot give enough praise to this location. You won't regret taking your business here. A+++

Can't say enough about Rick and his team at AAMCO. Unfortunately, the extended warranty company on my truck is a joke. And that's just the truth. If you can avoid it - do not use Penn Warranty Corporation.Rick has fought on my behalf to make sure the work on my truck was covered, as it should be. He is fun to deal with and is honestly just a good guy. After doing a bunch of work and the warranty company telling him to tow the truck to someone else (to avoid having to pay), he is still helping me out. He could've given up on me and the warranty company - and tried to get me to pay out of pocket. But he didn't.I fully recommend this AAMCO as they have the best interest of the customer in mind.Service: Transmission

I ve had my car for 9 years, taken her to numerous shops, but I haven t had more trust and peace than when I took it to AAMCO. From the time I dropped it off, to when it was fixed, Steven assisted me through every part. He was honest, and stuck to the agreed quote we had for repairs. The people that work here are good folks, and I will be taking my cars here from now on.

Stephen communicated our needs with our transmission issue. He was very knowledgeable and was able to have our vehicle completed at a reasonable time. We received a great price and impressed with the quality of work. Would definitely recommend and will use them in the future should we need to.

Here my car got the transmission rebuilt, torque converter changed, etc... I paid over 2K bucks for the repair with 3-year warranty. Now my car is shifting gears kinda funny, sometimes earlier than should, sometimes later... So, I took the car back to AAMCO because is still on warranty. After the 1st workday, I did not get a phone call. Seem like they are not used to customers or they don't know that they are supposed to call the customer even if did not have time to check the car. I would appreciate a courtesy call and a reasonable plan to fix the issue, let's see how long that takes. Unfortunately, today will have to walk home. I will continue updating this post...The second day, 1st thing in the morning I got the call. One positive aspect about this Shop is that they keep their eyes on the rates and reviews. Looks like the previous owner messed up very bad with customers and the new people at the shop are trying very hard to fix the bad reputation. By phone, I got a fair enough excuse of why they did not call me yesterday and they have a plan to fix the car issue, which btw should not cost me a dime because the transmission rebuild is still on warranty...

This place is the absolute best. I went in for a new transmission and they had me squared away within three days. The customer service was excellent. Gus and Stephen were so professional and knowledgeable. The price was good as well. I would definitely recommend this place for all car repair needs.

Me, my husband, and our 5 children stopped in Birmingham, Al. to have our Infiniti truck looked at after towing a trailer from South Carolina. Our truck was not driving as we expected so we called in to have it looked at. They did everything to check for any issues our truck may have had. They drove it to see exactly the issue we were concerned about. Not to mention they accommodated our entire family of 7 while we waited a couple hours for them to check it out. Turned out everything was better than we thought. Steve was our mechanic and he was very informative and squeezed us right in and got it done. We are now able to continue our journey from South Carolina to Arkansas!!!

Came in from running hot, turned out to be that the last time this car was worked on a hose had been replaced incorrectly and all the coolant had leaked out. Luckily we were coming from the VA hospital and this shop was about a block away. They fixed the hose and replaced the coolant and within an hour we were back on the road. Everyone was friendly and we made very pleasant conversation with Gus at the front desk. Big thanks to these fine gents.
