TLDR: They did work on my car without my authorization so I had no choice but to pay.Full story: My car wouldn t start so I had it towed in. They told me I needed a full tune up and oil change for $800. I knew this was not the problem so I declined the work. Then they called back and said actually they hadn t realized it wasn t starting and actually it was a gunked up fuel injector, which they had already fixed and it took 2 hours of labor, so I could either pay for that repair or they could undo the work, saying they still had the gunk around. They said if I didn t want to pay for the work they had already done then they would put the gunk back in. (They we re threatening to mess up my car on purpose.)They acknowledged that they should not have done any work without my authorization. I was able to negotiate the labor cost down to 1.5 hours instead of 2.How did they come up with their original diagnosis? They must not have tried to start the engine before coming up with that or they would have noticed that the car didn t start.What I learned was if you bring your car here they might start working without asking first, and you will have to pay whatever they ask or they will damage your car.

I've been going to Lei's for 20 years. I am an engineer. When I was younger, I took cars apart for fun and to save money. These Lei's Auto guys in general know what they are doing and are in the top 10% of auto repair places in terms of knowing how to diagnose problems and fixing them at a reasonable price. Mr. Lei sets the tone for this place -- do it right, do it quickly, be smart. Learn. Do. Engage. Straight talk with customer. The people here who say "they do free work on stuff" are correct. Here's an example. I have a 2001 Toyota Corolla with stick I love to drive. They replaced the entire brakeline system (rusted out). Now, perfect brakes. I pull out of the place at 5:30 and headlight is out. I drive back into the entrance and explain. Within 3 minutes, there are three guys working on the problem, they take the front covers and light assembly out with special know-how and tools. They find some connector that needs shining up a little. Ten minutes later. Light is on. I drive out of the place. That was a year ago. If you have some sort of crazy problem on your 2019 Mercedes Benz climate control system, maybe not the place for special cars. But for regular cars with regular type problems, this is your place. Decided to revise what i wrote, so more ppl would see and avoid this shop.I bought a car with aftermarket rims, my rims cracked, and i called lei's as ive been going to them for years, when i called i asked if they could put these rims on that i just got, he told me yes, they could put the rims on. When i brought them, he had me heck to make sure they werrent damaged and were the right size, but with the rims still on the car you cant check the bolt pattern, since he tells me i still have to pay if they dont fit, i figure theyd check the bolt pattern, and try to ask to double check but wouldnt let me, they mounted the tires on the new rims, and tried to mount them amd realized the bolt pattern was wrong. Since these are new they cant be returned after being mounted, so i still had to pay them even tho theyncouldnt check before they mounted and ruined the new part, and has the nerve tp tell me to my face, " hind sight is 2020, and they dont like to do these, bc of this" when i couldve took it to a shop that would, bc they only care about the money they get from you, they will tell you they can do something and leave you with trash fittment, if you have a nice car, DO NOT BRING IT HERE, THEY WILL DESTROY IT, SMILE AND HAND YOU A BILL.

These people quoted a friend of mine $2800 to do a couple shocks, brake pads and rotors, idler arm, and two front tires, and front swaybar links on a 2003 chevy astro van. Even accounting for a 40-50% markup on parts, and generous labor allowance, this is highway robbery. Max this should cost anyone for this work is $1500. Run away from these pricr gouging scammers.

I had a wonderful experience with Lei's Auto! I needed new wheel bearings on a car, and Lei's Auto did it for way less money than it cost me in the past on a similar vehicle.

Update: I got my power window fixed at Ramsey's at Drexel Hill for 430$. Turns out I was right that the motor for the power window was not broken. Lei's mechanics insisted that both motors and adaptor were broken when I dropped my car. I told him that the motor really sounded fine to me, and I heard the adaptor cracked at the moment of incident. However, I always chose to believe the experts and left my car with them. Tuned out, not all mechanics can be called 'experts", and for a wrong diagnose that 'the expert' came up within 30 second, it's worth 45$. I am glad that was my only lost besides my time to Lei's. They could totally rip off more as 430$ comparing to 1000$, was quite a difference.Previous post: Not honest people, not recommended. I dropped by Lei's Auto and told them that my power window was broken. I wanted to know how much it would cost me. At the time, they were about to close, so I said I could drop by next day. The guy strongly suggested me to leave my car there so that they could work on it first thing in the morning. Given we are both Chinese, I believed him. So I left my car there, and asked him not to work on it until he gave me a quote. The next day I didn't hear back from them, so I called. They told me it would cost more than 1000$ to fix the window. I think it's too expensive and want to figure out something else. However, when I went to pick up my car, Lei's insisted on charging me 45$ for mechanical inspection. I didn't think it was fair, but as a lady who wants her car back, I had no choice but pay the 45$. No one informed me that leaving my car there will cost me 45$. In fact, I think they set me up for this. Once again, not honest people, not recommended.

Over a decade of getting service from these guys. They're down to earth and willing to talk over options. If you're a little tight in the budget, they'll be more than happy to discuss used parts, postponing less urgent repairs, etc. Not only that, but they'll recommend when to repair/replace in pairs/sets. And they'll let you know if they're not sure a certain repair will fix your issue.Update: So Lei has brought on a partner, M.T., who I don't know very well. The technicians and staff seem to provide the same level of service I've come to expect, so good, so far. They have moved locations, so it is a bit out of the way. I have yet to have a genuinely bad experience with them having gone thru a couple of vehicles recently, so still recommend them as one of my most trusted businesses.

We've been using Lei's for about 4 years now. They take good care of our old Camry - a true city car. Reasonable prices, friendly folks, straight forward info & options, and they're reliable too boot - they do what they promise by the time they promise ... or sooner. Very happy with them.

I have used them for the last 12 years with different autos. My experience has been that they are fair and honest. They will call you prior to any work and go over with you what is needed and how much it will cost. Then you can decide what to fix. I would most prefer that my car never broke down, but if I need repairs this is a shop that I am comfortable taking my car for repairs. Mr. Lei and his crew are always helpful.

Lei's is my preferred place to take my car. It's a good--but not perfect!--repair shop.The good: They seem honest, they know their stuff, and I don't feel like they are making up things that don't need fixing just to get my money. In fact, at times they'll tell me what needs to be fixed, or what could be fixed now but doesn't NEED it yet, and I can decide what I want to do based on my needs and budget. So, they're very helpful in that regard.Also, sometimes they've done things for free that I'm sure they could have charged me for. I had headlight issues and agreed to pay whatever the cost was for an electrical diagnostic. However, they found the problem so quickly that they didn't actually charge me for what I'd agreed to pay! Things like that make me confident that they are legit and trustworthy.The not-so-good: The main issue here is parking, that there isn't any, so you'll have to creatively/illegally park on the sidewalk or something to drop off your car. Their waiting area isn't too nice either, so you'd probably want to wander elsewhere in the neighborhood if you had to wait. Lastly, they are popular so some days they don't have availability for things and you'd have to wait till the next day. All around, I would recommend that place to others (and I have!) .

Excellent service and they stand by their work. Been bringing my older vehicle (2001, 160,000+ miles) here for about a year whenever things break on it. They always figure out the problem and solve it faster and at much much better prices than the big franchise auto stores. Also had some autobody work that they patched up perfectly. One fix had some followup problems but Lei's quickly solved it at no charge. Strongly recommend.

Lei's Auto is generally fast and efficient. They are usually busy, a testament to how many people trust them. I have had no problems with them and have been there with my old car five times. They are honest and can get parts in like 12 hours. My only criticism would be the lack of updates.

I have had to use them a few times for accident (collision) and road damage (pothole) repairs. I am extremely satisfied with the quality and expediency of service. I've also dropped my car off for routine service (oil) and inspection, ran an errand downtown with the convenience of the trolley outside the shop, and returned to my serviced car. Terry and the guys are great!

Have been going here for many years, with mixed results. They've mostly done good work, and their price has always been lower than dealer prices. But, they've been pushy in the past, sometimes suggesting repairs that aren't necessary. More recently (last 12 months), they've gotten better about the same. Most recent visit, they actually saved me some money by reusing parts that didn't need replacing for some body work. Saved a couple of hundred relative to dealer pricing for the same job. The -1 star is largely due to past experiences and I'll take that off sometime in the future if this continues.

Lei s helped me out as I was passing through Philly! A couple warning lights came on as I was driving and a friend in town recommended Lei s. They took a look right away when I drove in. They read the error codes, let me know it was ok to drive it home a couple hours, and then even advised me on what I should ask my regular mechanic to look for once I made it home! They even advised me against an expensive fix that an untrustworthy place might recommend. Super fast and friendly. Thank you!

This was my second time at Lei's for service. I got a flat tire this afternoon and went to Lei's for service. They were busy at the moment I arrived but they figured out the problem and had my car fixed within an hour. My tire had to be replaced and they charged a fair price for the tire (I checked on several website for the tire's price) and low labor. Will come back for inspection/oil change or other stuff when needed!

Lord Jesus. Let us all pray... I've been going to Lei's Auto forever. They are incredibly fair as well as communicative. If you inform them what it is you think the issue is that is exactly what they will address without being overbearing about any additional issues that your vehicle may or may not have. YES I AM AWARE THAT THEY HAVE MOVED and this is where I need prayer. I have been to the "new" location on Lancaster Avenue and DO. NOT. SEE. THEM. Jesus be a fence. I am in need of a tune up and I'm just not comfortable going to any place else. Don't bother calling the number listed, as the mailbox is full. LAWD. I'm attached to this place and am leery about letting anyone else maintain my vehicle for fear of being not just overcharged but appearing on Judge Judy because a wheel has come flying off or some other kind of craziness. ANYONE out there who may know what's going on PLEASE POST. Don't bother going to their former location, IT HAS BEEN TORN DOWN TO THE GROUND. Help!!!!!

My husband took our VW to have them look at why the muffler was making noise. They quoted him $900 to fix the muffler and replace the struts (because they were shot). We took it to a certified VW mechanic and it turned out that the car ONLY needed a $91 part on the muffler and SURPRISE the struts are in great shape. So pissed that they thought they could trick us into getting unnecessary work done just to pad the bill.

I wish there was a review lower than one star available. They are extremely unprofessional. I dropped my car off after getting a quote from them prior, then when I dropped my car off they said it was going to be double the original quote.When I told them they were going to lose my business if they didnt honor the quote they couldnt care less.They are awful business men, and extremely sketchy. If they give you a low quote to get you in the door, dont trust them.

I often had to call to see what was going on with my vehicle because they never called me back when they said they would. They had my car for a month gave me a list of three things that needed to be fixed catalytic converter, motor mount, and horn, I paid for the most expensive, catalytic converter to be fixed then they gave me a different list of what needed to be fixed first my tires and brakes were good then my tires brakes and rotors and muffler needed to be fixed but they no longer mentioned anything about the motor mount or horn. Took my car to Cee Johnson's further down on chestnut they got me all fixed up in two days.

Just to inform people that they have moved. I learned from sign on door 4527 Lancaster.I do not do business with them. I did go there in the past. Michael is really nice and competent. . They are like any other mechanics.. stopped by there not too long ago. And was greeted by a rude representative.. decided to no longer do business with them.

I was disappointed by them.My SES light was ON, went there for like 4 times in 3 weeks. Changed two O2 sensors, one air sensor, spent almost $1,000. SES still ON and they can do nothing about it. Even charge me more labor fee when change the 2nd sensor.They have no repair skills I guess.

Very satisfied with the service everytime I go here. They give the correct information. They also assist with where you can find parts for your vehicle. I highly recommend this Auto Shop...
