In early 2020, my young child and I were driving home to Washington State when, just south of Roseburg, Oregon, my 2011 Subaru Outback began overheating, and every light on my dash came on. Of course it was the weekend. We were stranded.The next day, with little to do, we attended the Unitarian Universalist church in Roseburg. During a simple lunch after the service, someone highly recommended H.I.S. Automotive Services to me. I took my car there first thing Monday morning.Their shop was nothing fancy in appearance, but the owners immediately impressed me with their customer service, vast automotive knowledge, and genuine kindness. My child still has the little flashlight that they gave him.Everyone at H.I.S. was very kind to us. More importantly, they performed excellent work on my car. They were thorough and efficient and communicated well during the process of diagnosing multiple problems. Extremely honest. Mindful of my financial situation, they took things step by step, offering their expertise and letting me decide how to proceed. They were apologetic when the easier repairs didn't fully resolve the problem, and additional work was advisable.It soon became apparent that necessary repairs included sending a part out to a machine shop, and my car would be at H.I.S. for several days. The shop owner gave us a ride to the Airbnb where we were staying, and later even drove us to the Greyhound stop with some of the stuff from our car. We took Greyhound home, and I returned a week later for my car. The total cost was a pleasant surprise. It was very reasonable. The cost would have been more than double here in Washington.I wish we lived closer to Roseburg so I could always bring my car to H.I.S. My local mechanic is not nearly as knowledgeable, kind, or reasonably priced.However, the real reason I am posting this review is because three weeks ago, my car was at my mechanic here in Washington, and they were pressuring me to have my timing belt changed. It came to my mind that H.I.S. may have already changed it. I called H.I.S. They immediately looked up my single visit of almost four years ago, confirmed they had replaced my timing belt, and provided the date. I then asked and they gave me a review of all the repairs they had performed then and took the time to answer my questions.Four years ago and again this month, the people at H.I.S. went above and beyond for me. It is extra impressive because I don't even live locally. I will always be very grateful to the owners of H.I.S. for their excellent service when we were stranded in Roseburg.It was stressful taking my car to an unknown mechanic in an unfamiliar city because you never know... but they quickly put me at ease. H.I.S. was great. Becoming stranded in Roseburg turned out to be a wonderful experience.Do not hesitate to take your vehicle to H.I.S. If it is time for your vehicle to be serviced or if it needs a repair, call H.I.S. Automotive Services. If something is terribly wrong with your vehicle and you have no idea what it could be, definitely take it to H.I.S. You will be glad you did.

This is a really special place. They got me in immediately on my way home, fixed my car before closing time even when they had to get a part for it, were so kind and gracious to me and my baby daughter and I feel like the rate they charged me was more than fair, but generous. I have never had an experience like this in an auto repair place and will go to them for everything now. They are wonderful and value their customers as human beings. They also did exemplary work on my vehicle. I can't think of one drawback to going here. They were actually recommended to me when I went to the Honda dealership who couldn't fit me in for weeks to months.

Update: went back in on 2/22 for more service for my 79 back running like factory new thank you HIS for a 3rd successful repair and diagnostic I'm super happy how it's running and service was quick and exceptional.I've been too HIS automotive twice now fe different things ,gauges and brakes both times was given exceptionally great staff was kind and took the time to answer all questions until they were sure I was happy. Did a full inspection of the car. Gave us an itemized list of each fix and a high quote for costs. Only fixed what we agreed to, so there were no surprises. It actually ended up being less than we were quoted. Took away a star because when they texted to tell it was done they said "you can pick it up at your convenience." It was a Thursday afternoon and we were busy so we figured we would pick it up Friday, turns out they are closed Friday, so we had to wait until Monday. It would have been helpful for them to put their hours in the text.

Dave and the guys over at H.I.S have taken great care of both of my vehicles. The family atmosphere and honest evaluations are something that are hard to come by with any mechanic. These guys are straight shooters and their turnaround time is great. I ll be recommending my buddies to take their vehicles there from here on out and that will be the only place to work on my truck!

Talked with the owner and he was super rude. I was trying to get a quote and he asked me if I was trying to sell him something. I was like huh? He said take me off your call list! I was looking for a quote for services. I would not call this place. Super sketchy.Look at the response! Should tell you everything about their customer service or lack there of. Interesting perspective to think you can tell a potential client how to act. No thanks!!!

Always honest with me and never tries to upsell me or "fix" things that aren't broke. I truly thought something was wrong with my truck and they did an inspection and told me nothing was wrong with it. They could have lied to me about needing repairs and I would have believed them, but they didn't.

Amazing service! DJ was very helpful and took the time to explain what was wrong with our Kia in a very respectful manner. Their work has been exceptional and amazing follow up as well. I was able to get my vehicle in the next business day and they diagnosed the problem and fixed it all under 2 hours! Not only was I not charged for the inspection, but they fixed my wire problems at no cost! I was recommended to this business from a family friend and am glad I went with the recommendation. I would highly recommend them and will bring my business back here in the future for sure!

NEVER GO TO HIS AUTOMOTIVE!! I ve been taking my cars here for years. Yesterday I took my Titan here to repair the starter. They did a diagnostic without my permission and impounded my vehicle. They told me the brakes were unsafe and refused to give me my keys unless I paid $2,300 to repair the brakes and the starter. I had to pay a tow truck for a tow to Les Schwab. I m now paying $800 a week for a rental and my truck sits at Les Schwab until they can work me in. HIS couldn t care less. HIS is not cheap but at least they re honest, I thought. They re neither!!

H.I.S Automotive did work on m daughters from wheel in Oct. They replaced the knuckle, wheel bearings, hub, axle, speed sensor, rotors and pads. About 4 months later her car started making the same noise from the same wheel. We had since moved to Colorado. I took it to my mechanic in Colorado to have it looked at. My Colorado mechanic said the bearing should have been more flush with the hub. They also said that the inside of the bearing was damaged as well (some of that could have happened with the removal, like the seal), but it fell apart when removed. They felt that it was likely not installed properly, which is why it failed again so quickly. I called H.I.S auto and spoke to Dave about what happened. Dave was kind and quickly offered to reimburse me for the cost of wheel bearing. He asked that I send over some pictures and a copy of the invoice from my mechanic in Colorado, which I did. Dave said that he would mail me a check for $200 for the issues. Being in a different state and after 4 months I honestly thought that H.I.S auto would likely not help me out, but they absolutely stood by their word and their work and apologized for the issues with the bearing and sent me the check. Fantastic customer service and Dave was a pleasure to work with. Everything else they installed was fine, the only issue was with the wheel bearing and hub. Things happen and they probably just didn't notice the issue. Qualified people and great customer service.

Took my teenager's care to HIS after I drove it and could feel all sorts of issues in the front wheels. I got a bid to replace the wheel bearings a couple other issues they found. Price seemed reasonable so I approved the work. After they got in there they found another issue and quoted me the part cost but didn't charge me more labor since they were already in there. When I picked up the car the extended cost was less than the quoted cost and the car runs as smooth as the day it was new.Took my other son's car in and it was fixed quickly and for a reasonable price. When I called, they got me in right away, diagnosed my car problems and sent me an estimate via text the same day. They ordered the parts and let me know about how long it would take, kept me updated via text and let me know when it was ready.I got a follow-up email from Dave a day or two later, asking if everything was working right.I've been pleased with the work they've done on our family cars over the past few years and I'm sure I'll be back. Excellent place to do business. People were friendly, DJ and Dave are great. took care of every need of mine in a timely manner and performed high quality work on my Cadillac. Filled my coolant tank that was a gallon low, and located the leak, and FIXED the leak that I didn't even mention free of charge because it was a loose hose. This business earned my 5 stars all day long, will absolutely be using H.I.S automotive and recommending them to everyone I meet that needs automotive services in southern Oregon, as the prices are also very fair and straight forward. My car was towed to HIS Automotive while I was out of town and they were so great! They made sure to call me before doing anything to my car, had great communication and finished so quickly. They texted me keeping me updated, told me everything that was fixed and a price. They also let me keep my car there for a week because I was unable to make the 2 hour drive to pick up my car. When I picked my car up, the guys here were very nice. Definitely recommend

H.I.S. Automotive is a great place to take your car for service. They were very nice and professional. They checked my car out and told me to take it back to Volvo to be fixed since it might still be under warranty. Any time I need work done in the future I won't hesitate to take it to H.I.S Automotive. Great honest people.

Dave and the team over at HIS are good at what they do. They did lots of solid work on my Subaru Outback and were easy to do business with. They sent someone to get me a ride to the shop on a few occasions and they even checked with me that the repairs were done right a few days after service. I recommend them and trust them with my car. Five stars for people doing great work.

Great staff, and top notch abilities and service. How can you go wrong? These are great people to work with and did and outstanding job of repairing my vehicle and kept it under the estimated repair price. They delivered on how long it would take to repair. Then good follow-up to make sure it was still running well. I really appreciate these guys and there work.God Bless!

I had them look at a car I was going to buy before I purchased it and they did. I got the review of what they found wrong and what was still fine. I decided to get an estimate of the repairs and they told me a fairly low number. When I scheduled the appointment to get two of the repairs done my estimate was still fairly low and manageable. When I dropped my car of the man in the front was rude and not welcoming. The appointment wasn t scheduled in the correct name even though when I scheduled it I gave them my name and information. Then once I returned home I got a text message saying my repairs were going to be almost $1,000 and when I called to see why they said the person who looked up my estimate looked the wrong thing up which doesn t make sense to me since they scheduled the appointment for the same thing they looked up.

My car is breaking down, and I brought it here. I walked in the door and asked if they do walk-ins. The guy at the counter said "I can't." I then said "My car is breaking down. That's why I brought it here." And he just stared at me with a cold expressionless face. He didn't offer to make an appointment or even look at my car. Not so much as even a smile.Bad customer service. I won't be back there again...
