Rob is incredibly knowledgeable on diesel trucks. He is both polite and professional. I had so many questions about my Powerstroke and he took the time to help me get answers and to understand so much about this great engine. I would absolutely recommend his shop for any and all services! He is the best! Thank you Rob!

Rob is a great guy and very knowledgeable. He is honest and isn't afraid to say it how it is. Rob is a one man show so every thing that is done to your truck is done by someone with decades of experience and ASE certification. I recommend everyone with a diesel to go to Rob. I've learned the hard way they you can't trust most shops so he's even done repairs on our gassers.Service: Engine repair

Stay away from this shop! Had Rob do over $6,000 worth of upgrades and maintenance work on my 6.0 diesel. 2,600 miles after he did the work my truck developed such a rapid oil leak the truck couldn't be driven. Rob asked me to take it to a local shop and we had driven hours to have the work done by Rob. The local shop found a LOT of shoddy work, all backed up with photo's. The oil filter housing had a broken off bolt, there were missing bolts, the filter cap was cross threaded and the o-ring had finally failed, newly replaced gaskets were leaking already, and everything was covered with silicone. The oil cooler screen was torn and covered with silicone and other debris. There was an alarming amount of metal shavings in the filter area. Rob said he would reimburse us for the repairs, which came to over $2,500. He promised to mail a check, and never did. Then he kept saying it was coming, but it never did. This all occurred long periods where he would just ignore all forms of messages. He got made and told me he "got to decide when to pay the bills" with no remorse for the fact that I had been without my truck for over two weeks while the work to fix his shoddy work was done, and my truck had leaked oil all over my driveway and in my garage. I had tried to be kind and didn't rent a truck for the time I was without my truck due to his mistakes. Everything has been carefully documented, including his numerous emails saying he was sending or had sent a check. We have now been forced to hire an attorney. Mistakes happen, but Rob obviously doesn't care about standing behind his work and doing the right thing. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this shop.

Fleet Service Northwest installed a Bullet Proof system on my truck back on 2007. He did excellent work and reasonable prices.Just scheduled some minor repair work with him on a saturday. I showed, his work was locked up. Gave a call, left a message and contact info. Never received a call back on his next work day. Demoted to two stars. (June 2021).

I purchased my first diesel truck, a 2005 Ford F-350 6.0L with 108,000 miles in February of 2019. I knew the 6.0L had some inherent issue that at some point we d have to deal with. Because of those issues I searched the internet for a reputable diesel mechanic in the Portland area. Google led me to Rob at Fleet Service Northwest in Hubbard Oregon. Thank you Google! On our first camping trip this year in April towing our RV to the coast, we blew a head gasket. When we got back home off to Rob at Fleet Service Northwest went our truck. I could not be more happy with our decision to have Rob repair and upgrade our truck. He educated me on the repairs and upgrades and why they needed to be made. He answered all my questions and never once made me feel like I was wasting his valuable time. He even let me come in to his shop while he was making the repairs so I could learn more about the process. Our truck is now repaired and as I type this review sitting in our campsite at Cape Kiwanda RV I can tell you I have ABSOLUTE confidence in the reliability of our truck now. Rob is a special breed of mechanic. He s customer centric and unbelievably knowledgeable. Rob has a passion for diesel trucks. He will educate you on your vehicle and the repairs he s going to perform. He will ensure that you are 100% satisfied when your vehicle rolls out of his shop. If you are looking for a diesel mechanic on the west coast do yourself a HUGE favor and at the very least give him a call. I promise you that you will not regret it.

I found Rob when I was considering purchasing our '03 Excursion with 6.0 powerstroke in the Fall of '16. Rob had written an article on the value that the 6.0 vehicles which I read. I was impressed by Rob's depth and bredth of knowledge right away. He is clearly an expert at the Powerstroke Diesel and has obviously made quite a study of these motors! I called Rob at that time and discussed my concerns about purchasing the Excursion. He told me that they were good motors from the heads down, and that we might potentially need to spend $5000. to repair the problems that are common to the 6.0. He offered all of that advise free of charge and was pleasant and willing to help and volunteer his knowledge. We bought the Excusion and have since wracked up 45,000 trouble free miles on it. About 1 month ago it began to have trouble starting when cold. After I tested the glow plugs (they were all fine) I was considering purchasing a new set of injectors to install myself as I had read that the injectors might be the problem. I called Rob and described the symptoms, he said he had time to work on it so I brought it into his shop. He had correctly diagnosed the problem over the phone and saved us nearly $2000 in un-needed parts and what I'm guessing would be about 2 days of my time! While the excursion was at Fleet Services NW we had Rob change the alternator, add a tuner, repair a fuel leak, change the fuel filters, AND fix the cold starting issue (which was the fuel control module)....all for less money than I was going to spend on parts that would have not corrected the issue. In 27 years of owning and driving vehicles I have learned to do my own mechanic work, because I have had such little luck having my vehicles worked on by professional shops. Rob is the exception! He treated me like I would like to be treated from the first time I spoke to him. I recommend Rob to perform any service that he is willing to do!Rob at Fleet Services Northwest is an asset to the powerstroke community! We will be taking our powerstroke vehicle to Fleet Services NW for as long as he is in business, and I will recommend him to everyone that needs an honest, fair priced, knowledgable, professional mechanic!

Was on vacation near there last July. My 07 6.0 quit on me. Rob had me going in timely manner. I could went elsewhere for cheaper. But I believe you get what you pay for. The man knows his powerstrokes. And the man knows about bigfoot. He showed me some good places on the map to go squatching. He cautioned me on some the places. Any how if you want your truck fixed right with OEM parts no cheap junk he is the man. Sure wish he could went with me on my squatching but he had trucks to fix. A+++

Where to begin, wow.First off, I ve known this guy for years, ever since my Wife bought her 6.0, just freshly acquired by the old Dick s McKenzie Ford. After I spent an entire night awake scaring myself silly with all the horror stories on the forums and powerstrokehelp I called Rob and spent damned near an hour BSing about the six-leaker as it was then known. Brought it in for a quick once-over where we discovered it had already had ARP studs installed so off we went, hoping for the best. Turns out that all that had been done was what s known as a gasket slap without leveling the sealing surfaces, so as soon as it built up any pressure it blew.As soon as I saw the white exhaust plume I knew what had happened, so off she went to Rob and at that time Rob, Jr. for the first of many TLC sessions. This would be the biggest as since we had already purchased some bulletproof items they would be being installed at the same time. One of the things that Rob does really well that a lot of the others don t is to actually check the heads for flatness. In the case of the 6.0 they were generally done with really sloppy tolerances as the factory gasket and Torque to yield bolts were considered sufficient to seal for the pressures being generated. Turns out, they weren t. So lots and lots of diesel owners got to feel the 6.0s bite and I m one of em.So after he gets the entire front of your truck off then you get to wait on the machinist s shop to deck your heads, and you get to choose which fixes you want to apply. We went with a full bullet-proof kit which only added a couple grand as I recall, in fact we had previously purchased a bit of it with the intent of having it installed, so in a way our breakdown was fortuitous. Now we come to the funny part of the story and for me the salient part, - when we came to pick it up he had his Son give us the bill while he hid in the Shop watching us with one eye making sure we were going to pay! I ll never forget him watching us sideways from out in the Shop making sure we actually paid the fourteen grand. But as I say I ve known him for years and there is no-one that I trust with my Wife s truck MORE than Rob Gaskell. She s come in on a flatbed more than once, but I think you can kind of expect that with these kind of trucks, especially when you throw in the fact that some of them are pushing 15-20 years of age. This particular one has bit me more than the purchase price over the years I think, but overall I d take it to Mexico tomorrow as I m pretty sure it would make it there and back, and I don t have ANY other 4 wheeled vehicle I can say that about. Only problem is that I can t get him to work on all my other garbage because of all the damned diesels people keep bringing him. Seriously, do some research and it won t take long and you ll find out who the best is in 6.0 repairs around here.
