Customer service was a zero. When you schedule an appt for a simple oil change it can take all day. You must state you are going to be waiting so they schedule you under a "wait" terminology that wasn't explained over the call. The lady said are you waiting on someone to pick you up?"I said for an oil change? And tire rotation"I expressed the concern of the experience and miscommunication to John directly and he wouldn't take fault. And because his customer base is so high he expressed he couldn't care for one customer who is being difficult.I was shocked by his response and lack of respect or care for the customer experience. I will not be coming back.

Will continue to trust John with my vehicles!I was having electrical problems with my taillights and was needing my new headlights to be installed. John was very patient with the project and the front desk kept me informed through the entire process. We had multiple issues come up with the back tail lights where we thought it was fixed but when I would leave I would have to bring my truck back in. I do not blame anyone in this because it was just a big pain and we couldn't figure out exactly what was causing it. After 2 days of back and forth John finally found the solution and I couldn't be happier. The price was super budget friendly and my headlights look amazing!!! Thank you so much!Service: Electrical repair

Affordable, local repair shop with quick turnarounds. I've had several repairs done here on multiple vehicles and they were completed well and significantly cheaper than the dealer rate.

We were heading out of town on a Friday afternoon for our anniversary when our battery light came on. We quickly google a mechanic and John s Automotive Repair came up. (We are not from Corvallis). From the moment we arrived they were friendly, someone immediately checked out our car and diagnosed it. They were able to get the part and replace it and had us on our way in a couple of hours. Since we hadn t eaten they gave us a couple of places to eat close by.Thank you for saving our anniversary weekend!Shannon & Bryan

It's very rude to laugh when a potential customer asks a question. I could have phrased my question better I guess, I was asking for what the average price of something was, some of us live paycheck to paycheck yet depend on our vehicles. So I needed to know how much I needed to save before even bothering to try to get my car fixed. So I asked about the average price to fix my issue, and the person laughed, and the rest of the conversation I felt as though they thought I was stupid. I do not feel comfortable calling there again, let alone using this business.I get sometimes customers do laughable things, but you didn't have to laugh at me in front of me. I can handle rude, but this wasn't just rude, you made me uncomfortable.I called another auto place, and asked a similar question. They did not give me a ballpark estimate either, but at least they politely gave me more information about what the cost depends on. Most importantly, without laughing or making me feel stupid. I will be going there instead. They communicate clearly and professionally. I do not feel uncomfortable with them.

Always friendly staff, they (so far) have always been under the price they quoted me before the service was completed. They always communicate well and are very clear about what they can and can't do and what you can and should not put off until payday.

I've really enjoyed my experience with John's! They were able to schedule my car in pretty quickly, and had it fixed and ready to be picked up the same day at a super reasonable price. All of the staff I've interacted with have been very friendly and helpful. I really don't know much about cars, and I appreciate how they explain things without making me feel pressured. I'll definitely be recommending them!

I am so grateful for this place! Found myself stressed out, and in a bind. I had never been to John's automotive, but I must say the friendly and respectful greeting I experienced was thoughtful and professional. It's got a down home relaxed atmosphere, and these people are just down rite Nice . I was able to get the answers I needed, and my car fixed in a timely manner. I will definitely use John's in the future if I ever have any issues with my car. Anyone else's for that matter. Thanks John!!!

Horrible service, I took my car in awhile ago.. the secretary was rude, then I was taken advantage of for having my caseworker pay for my car to be fixed so my kids could get to school as well as me. He told me it was a bad thermostat and he replaced but when I got home the car died again: I called immediately after and he said my car died because I plugged my code reader into my car and that he would happily recharge my caseworker for a re diagnostic how awful, worst experience everService: Engine repair

My brother recommended John's when I first moved to Corvallis in 2005, and I've been coming here ever since. They've taken good care of my 2001 Subaru, mostly routine maintenance and trip checks as my car has been real good to me (knock on wood). But they've also handled anything else that's come up. Always helpful, reasonable prices, car is done when they say it will be done or even sooner. Have never had to bring it back to get something "re-fixed." I'm not mechanically minded so it's been great having someone I can trust.

I highly recommend John's Automotive. John and his team of experienced mechanics always have done top quality, trustworthy work in the 20+ years I have benefited from their services for my Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. They have always communicated well with me about my regular maintenance work and calling me to inform me about diagnostics of an issue, estimate of cost and getting my approval for any and all mechanical repairs. They have consistently gone above and beyond to do top work at a fair cost. I enjoy supporting a local, family owned business that always gives me courteous, professional customer service to keep my cars safe and well maintained.

Look elsewhere in town for a Better Business Bureau accredited auto shop in Corvallis for more honest auto work and more professional quality customer service interactions. Poor professionalism from the owner John, he has an anger problem that he is unable to keep under control and will gladly yell at you if you question his almighty word of "30 plus years in the auto business."Service: A/C installation & repair

This experience was amazing. John and his team did their best to fix my vehicle the cheapest and safest way possible. It was fixed when they said it would be fixed and it was cheaper than the original quote. I will use them for all of my future needs and recommend them to my friends and family.

Normally I don't write reviews but for this place I feel like I must give them credit. I went in and had them complete a catalytic converter replacement on my car and the job was well done. What stood out to me, however, was the price that they quoted me was very reasonable as it was, but because they got it done faster than expected they charged me for the ACTUAL labor worked! When I went to pay I was surprised to have a lower bill. They could've charged me the original quote or even more and I wouldn't have known any better. The shop is not only very professional but also ethical and I will be returning!

If you really want to drop your car here, talk directly to John the owner. He took care of me a few times. HOWEVER, when John is gone, you really don t want to deal with the rest of the staff.I dropped my car here about five times. The last time, John was not around. The engine was shaking and I didn t know what was wrong with it. It took them four days to get to my car. Then the mechanic charged me around $250 for tightening the bolts that hooks the engine to the machine. The labor takes 30 minutes max. I tried to argue with him about the price, the mechanic started cursing and raising his voice, arguing that it took him too long to figure what the problem was. How is being a novice mechanic my problem? When I turned my car on to check their work, my car was backfiring, and they said it came that way. I tried to talk to the lady at the front desk, she had me wait for 10 minutes while she was on the phone with her friend talking about boyfriends and dating (I m not kidding). After she was done, I told her my problem, she started yelling and pound her palm on table, arguing that it came this way, and they refused to even look at it, saying that they re busy for the next two weeks.NOTE: My motive for writing this is that I do not want other people, especially fellow college students, to experience what I have experienced of being ripped off and insulted as a customer, and not be able to do anything about it. I hope that you find a shop that is honest and serve your needs.

Brought my driveshaft in (already removed from my truck) for a U - joint replacement, and was told it would be back to me by the end of the weekend. I get home and recieve a call an hour later saying that it was ready to be picked up. super quick service. The area around the joint was not cleaned before the new on was installed, so I hope there is no bearing contamination. It's a small point, but I do wish it was done. That said, I could have cleaned it myself but I didn't have the supplies to do so.Anyways, great guys. The person working the front desk was very easy to communicate with and was nice to talk to.

I've taken a Honda Accord ('93) 2 Toyota 4runners ('88 and '00) and our Subaru Outback ('06) here several times over the years. My experiences have always been good. Sometimes with preventative maintenance (e.g. valve adjustment) they will tell me I don't need it yet. I appreciate that kind of honesty. I think they charge reasonable prices and know what they are doing.

We had a pretty bad oil leak that I had John check out. Prior to bringing the car in I checked the oil filter and oil pan plug and tightened them to make sure it wasn't a problem (or so I thought).John looked everything over and determined it was just a loose oil filter. He cleaned up my engine for me and tightened the filter.Everyone at the shop was so helpful despite my own user error. I'll be sure to bring our vehicle back to John in the future if we have any real (or imaginary) problems again. Thanks John!

I've been taking our cars (mazda pickup, subaru outback) to John's for 10 years, and I've never been disappointed. They're always able to get me scheduled the same week, provide shuttle service, and are prompt, competent and honest in diagnosis and repair. Problems have either been fixed, or, if it's something that either doesn't need to be fixed or isn't worth fixing, John will tell you that. In my experience, they go out of their way to provide honest, quality service.

Did extra work on my car without consulting me about it. When i confronted the receptionist about it the older Jon, who I was told was the owner, immediately started accusing me of simply not wanting to pay. He told me multiple times he had spoken with me that morning letting me know what was going to be done to the car. Once I told him that was false his voice raised higher and higher until he was red in the face from yelling. The work was well done the customer service was unbelievably unprofessional. I will be taking any and all vehicles elsewhere and will tell friends and family the same.

My husband and I found John's Automotive when we moved here from California 8 years ago. They were highly recommended on the Car Talk (NPR radio show) website. John's has done all the work on our 3 cars since then (old cars, too: a '96 Saturn, a '97 Dodge minivan and a '98 Jeep Cherokee) and the work has been done well, done on time, and at a fair cost. There has been only one time that there was a problem with work one of John's technicians did on my car. As soon as I notified him, John made sure that my car and I were taken care of ASAP and I was back on the road in just a couple of hours. I would recommend John's to anyone.

Having car trouble when you are away from home is a scary thing. I was recommended to John's and couldn't have been more pleased. I took my car in a little after 8 a.m. and by 10:30 it was all finished. I would highly recommend John's to anybody either in Corvallis or traveling through with car problems.

So my 19 year old college daughter had her engine light on and she went to Jon s automotive and asked why her engine light was on. Well without disclosing what they were doing at all they took her keys and started doing what they called a diagnostic check she had no idea this was happening at all. Then they come back and say everything is fine you now owe us $78. She didn t sign anything she had no idea what they did or didn t do as they didn t tell her at all. He then held her keys captive until she would pay. She refused to pay them as she never even knew what was going on. I called jon and then he proceeded to tell me I know nothing about the automotive business and that this is how things are done and you don t need to inform the customer what your doing before you do it or even a range of how much it would cost. Then he said that my daughter needs to grow up and understand how the real world works. Sorry job but I have taken my car to many places and have never seen such unprofessional in my life. You tried to take advantage of my daughter and she wasn t going for it. I will say on jons behalf that he finally gave my daughter her keys after 2-3 hours of arguing and he knew that we were not paying a dime to him for him doing nothing . So I guess thanks for that jon. Word of mouth travels fast and in a business like yours I would maybe suggest having a bit more professionalism and inform your customers before you start taking keys from them .

Had them do a simple pulley, cars blown up, lack of updates, I just bought car 50k miles, brought it in multiple times each time I would bring it back the next day due to it sounding worse than when I was there, I ve spent $1800, and now I m looking at a complete engine rebuild, and I think this is due to not listening, I shouldn t have to watch YouTube videos to see if the shop is doing this the right way
