In 2004 I brought a 2000 mercury Cougar in to get the alternator replaced. I was charged 650.00 because they said the engine would have to be dropped to get to the alternator. I recently learned this is a lie. You can remove a tie rod and gain access through the wheel well. They also gave me a rebuilt alternator at that that failed within 3 months.Don t trust this place

I brought my car in due to a leak in my sunroof. I thought the problem was very specific to the cars they often work on so I thought I'd try this shop again. Big mistake.Next thing I know, I'm told I need a new windshield because my rear view mirror fell off when they touched it and a post imbedded in the mirror broke off. A large pit was created in the windshield (I think it happened at this same time) but they told me it was like that when I brought it in. I never saw that large pit prior to that.I was told they need to take the windshield out to fix the leak anyway and when I asked for more explanation, they became angry that I was not totally convinced they were being straight forward with me.This attitude was unacceptable to me so I went to go take my car back. I d rather give my money to another shop, where they don't get mad at customers for asking question.I did not call first and tell them I was coming to get my car and I caught them in the middle of driving the car outside in the middle of a downpour-when they knew a leak was the initial problem!I can only assume they were trying to make the entire situation worse. My husband had a waterproofing tape in his car and ran over and taped up the sunroof as best he could and I tried to have a conversation with the shop owners about squaring up the bill somehow.That was not to be.I came in to get a leak repaired and that was not done and now I also have a busted windshield and a busted rear view mirror and windshield wipers to deal with. To make matters even worse, my car is wet on the inside again after they put it outside in the rainstorm!They refused to talk to me about any of that and instead began swearing at me and calling me some not very nice terms for a female and threw my keys at me. I knew my husband would be very angry if he heard that. He came back from trying to tape up the sunroof just as one of the men threw the keys at me.The guy later called me to apologize for swearing and using those nasty terms for a woman but the fact is that it happened.I decided to cut my losses and took their invitation to get the heck out of there before any punches were thrown. It was hard to anticipate what could possibly happen next considering the level of vitriol they were so recklessly spewing.It was in the middle of that driving rainstorm when I left and I found the windshield wipers had been removed and they were in my backseat. The motors for the wipers had stopped working in the time they were in their shop. I don't know why. They worked when I took them in there. The drain hoses continued to leak into my car at this moment too. It was totally insane.Water was flooding in and I couldn t drive safely, I had to get off the road ASAP. If this app allowed me to give 0 or negative stars, I would have done so.I do not recommend this shop to anyone for any reason.

I can not say enough about how much I love and trust them there. My father passed in 2017 and was always the one to fix my car. Then last year, I finally found them. I have a 2006 Volvo xc90, so we go to the shop often enough that we have become frequent flyers. They are such genuine good wholehearted people. They work on Volvos all the time. I have been with Bill David and his team at Hampstead Garage for more than 25 years. I have bought many vehicles from him and he has always been so caring and making sure the safety of each one was and is the first priority to his customers. His reasonable rates and ability to deal with so many different people and problems overwhelms me. I cannot find enough words to thank him and his team. I hope I never have to find another mechanic and friend to service my vehicle. Thanks Bill for being there in the past, now and praying for the future also. God bless! I have been customer of Hampstead Garage for many years. Bill and his crew have serviced both my trucks and my SUV with excellence.The tasks I've asked them to do have included alternator replacement, brake repair, belts, transmission, new fuel tank and even replacing an engine in my Tahoe. All work was done on time and without any problems later. His prices have always been very reasonable. Often surprisingly low. (I hope he doesn't read this)Recently I purchased a really nice Jeep Laredo from Hampstead Garage. Since delivery his team has gone out of their way to make sure I'm happy and even looked for ways to provide free service saying it was always warranty.Bill's team best talent is not just their technical expertise but their ability to make you feel like part of their family. They care about making your car work right because they care about helping you.

I've been going to Hampstead Garage for all my family's car needs for 18 years. The owners Bill and Kevin David are true professionals, which seem to be a dying breed these days. They do great work and don't overcharge. They also recommend quality parts, when replacements are needed. They stand by their craftsmanship with pride and won't recommend bad products to any of their customers. Both Bill and Kevin, along with their other mechanic Bryan will also give you very helpful information on your vehicles to keep them running longer and more efficiently. They are also very courteous, respectful and real gentlemen. I would highly recommend Hampstead Garage to anyone.

My family and I have been going to Hampstead Garage for 11 years now and I can't tell you how awesome these guys are! We've bought every car from myself, my brother and my parents from them and also all the work we go to them for. They are SO loyal to their customers and anytime I have an issue they get me in there as soon as possible so it's fixed the day of or the next day. They're always willing to help whenever and are so flexiable. I never have issues after they're done working on my car and there prices are so reasonable! They aim to please and they execute that while exceeding any expectations you may have. If you're looking for GREAT service, prices and quality work then you need to go visit Billy, Kevin and Brian over at Hampstead Garage, there's not many loyal mechanics out there today, but these guys are loyal, trustworthy and excellent at what they do with great personalities!!I highly recommend these guys at Hampstead Garage, they're the needle in the haystack- hard to find nowadays!If I could give them more than 5 stars I would!

Been bringing my wife's and my cars here for about 10 years. Prices have always been good, they have always taken care of us and been trustworthy. On more than 1 occasion I have thought there would be a very expensive fix based on an engine light, and they have replaced defective sensors or the like, when they could have charged me much more and I would never have been the wiser. So, they have my gratitude and business for years to come.

I bought my first car here and I was amazed by the quality of the car. I got it for a great price. It was a much better value than the other dealers in the area. I went back a couple weeks later with a small punch list and they quickly repaired the issues. It is a great family owned business with friendly and qualified staff.

If you are considering hampstead garage, go somewhere else, anywhere else. I brought my car in and told them it needed either new struts or new ball joints, a check engine code read, and an oil change. When they called me with an estimate they said that they didn't know what was wrong with my struts/ball joints, and tried to charge me $150 for the "inspection" in which they actually gave me less information than i gave them from the start. when i picked up the car they told me it was the strut mounts so i brought it to another garage near my work asking them to replace the strut mounts for me. they took a 5 minute look at it and discovered that, low and behold it was the upper ball joints that needed replaced. the idiot assistant who test drove my car obviously backed it into something too because there's a big dent in my bumper that wasn't there before. I would recommend any other garage in the world over this one.---------------- In response to what the owner has said, I had originally intended on having him do the work. When i got the estimate of what the cost of the work would be, I decided that I would have the work done somewhere else. his "apprentice" called me and told me to bring them a check for 150$, 86 of which was for the inspection of the car. only after having my father call back (as I'm only 18) did they drop the price that I had to pay. the words I used may not have been the best, but when somebody tries to charge you 85$ for incorrect information, I believe you retain the right to be frustrated. I'm not saying all experiences at this garage will be like mine, but I can assure you that there are better, more reliable, and more trustworthy mechanics in the area that cost much less.

Hampstead Garage diagnosis and repairs Volvos. These European cars require skill and special computers to diagnose and repair. If you can fix Volvos you can repair almost any complex automobile.They also sell recondition Volvo-XCs too.I have had my Volvo codes read for a vary reasonable price.
