Great guy, quick service, and excellent customer service. Tom is super friendly and provides the best service in a super fast and timely manner. We could not ask for a better mechanic!! Our car broke down and was towed to his shop. In less than 2 days he fixed the issue PLUS some!!!! Thanks again Horn Automotive!!

Last night I was on my home from Kentucky and blew a radiator hose. I pulled off at Johnston City and googled a mechanic. I limped the car down to his shop. He was the only guy there and said he would do his best. He got me back on the road in no time and I was on my way home which was over 2 hours away. I recommend his services to anyone. Thank you sir.

My daughter and I were driving from Tennessee to Nebraska when we ran over part of a blown semi tire on the interstate. About a year and a half before, a similar thing happened, and we didn't pull over to check it out which resulted in damages so severe that I ended up having to buy a new vehicle. Needless to say, I learned my lesson and this time pulled off at the next exit which happened to be Johnston City, Illinois. We sat at a gas station right off the interstate while I tried to figure out what to do. I consulted Google and found Horn's Automotive about 8 blocks away. I told my daughter we were going to have to gamble on small town hospitality and headed that way. I told Tom our story and he said he could take a look but there would be a wait. If I gave him my name and number he would call me when he could get to me. It was less than an hour before my phone rang. We went back to the shop, he looked our car over and thankfully found nothing wrong. He pointed out a few things completely unrelated that would need attention in the future, but nothing that couldn't wait. When he was done, I asked how much I owed him, and he said not to worry about it. His kindness and generosity brought tears to my eyes and I offered him a hug which he accepted. We got back on the road and talked about how rare it was to find people like Tom. We made it home safe that night. The next day, I received a text from a number I didn't know. It was Tom checking to make sure that we had arrived safely. I just couldn't believe it. While I can't speak directly to his mechanic skills, I can speak to his character. That goes a long way for someone in the service industry. I can't imagine someone like him not being good at what he does as clearly his heart is in doing good things for people even if they are strangers who are unlikely to bring him business in the future. I truly believe that angels walk among us, and on that day in Johnston City, I met one named Tom.

Tom is a high caliber individual.Not once but twice, Tom assisted me with two separate nails in my tire. Tom also showed up in a very timely fashion considering it was the start to the holiday weekend. Thank you again Tom.

We found ourselves stranded on our way to Colorado on a Sunday in Johnston City IL. Tom agreed to meet us on a SUNDAY to help us.Not only did he hurry down to his shop to help us he knew exactly what was wrong.He drove TWO towns over to get the correct part. He was smiling and happy the entire time, even including our boys in conversation while he was fixing our SUV.I cried as I left Tom s shop grateful for his kindness and compassion towards our family. Without his knowledge and help we would have had to wait until Monday for help.We are close to home and our suv has run better than it has in awhile.If I could rate Horn automotive it would be beyond five stars. I only wish all mechanics were as honest and awesome as Tom.Tom we will never forget the humanity and kindness shown to us in Johnston City IL!May God bless you and your family for the man you are!Service: Electrical repair

My wife and I were traveling from Texas to Ohio and check engine light came on.We couldn t find anyone, called about a dozen places. Everyone was backed up 2 weeks or was short staffed. Was just about to get a hotel until we found Horns. 2 hours before closing he got us in. Had a misfire on one of my cylinders. Tom is a great guy and has a hell of a sense of humor.Thanks again, you really saved our butts.

Tom is a great guy. Very knowledgable and professional. If you're not from the area and you need a mechanic don't hesitate to stop at Horn's. I broke down on the freeway and called Horn's. Tom had my trailer repaired and back on the road in a few hours. Great place!

I was on my way from Florida to Marquette Michigan, in a 93 Chevy pickup and broke down in Johnston City, Illinois. It was on a Saturday and Horn s Automotive isn t open on the weekends. I was stuck and figured I was gonna have to spend the weekend there so, I decided to call and leave s message for the owner alerting them to my situation and I was gonna get a AAA tow to the shop and would be there bright and early the following Monday.To my surprise, after only a few rings the phone was answered by a man and not a message machine... The owner, Mr.Tom Horn, answered the phone and told me he was only at the shop that day to catch up on some work. I told Tom my situation and asked if he minded if I were to get towed to his shop for the weekend and camped in my truck cap until he could get to the necessary repairs on Monday or Tuesday.Tom told me not to worry about doing that and if I didn t mind waiting a few hours, he would drive over to where I was broken down and check out my truck and see if he could identify my problem and fix it so I could get back on the road that same day.I waited only an hour or so before Tom arrived, he was very kind and knowledgeable. Tom preformed am few diagnostics but needed to return to the shop to test a few things and grab another test kit. I waited a little while longer and Tom returned with his cousin, Brent and then they were able to identify my problem.As I was attempting to get my truck to start, Tom was able to identify a wire that was too close to my engine block and causing a short that wouldn t allow my truck to kick off and start.It literally was so simple that a little bit of electrical tape and repositioning the wire was all that needed to be done to fix my truck and get me on my way.When I asked Tom what was the amount of my bill, he replied, pay me what you think it was worth...I was flabbergasted... here I was traveling across the country, broken down, little to no options, got a mechanic to come out on his day off, and now he says, to pay however much I feel is fair... Most mechanics would have gouged me for all I was worth but, not Tom Horn.I paid Tom all I could afford at that time, I wish I could have given him more too. You see, Tom did more than fix my truck that day, he forever touched my heart and help me remember that there are still good, honest, and caring people in this fast paced digital world.I can assure anyone who lives or is passing through Johnston City Illinois, Horn Automotive will treat you right and get your automobile back on the road for a fair and reasonable price. Very helpful me and my wife and my son he went out of his way to make sure that we was taken care of. Really nice guy. In a pray that his whole family is bless. Because used today day before Thanksgiving my wife and I was on the Interstate 57 My car will hit came off on the tress way in broken the lug nut screws off my wheel. No one wanted to help us because it was so close to the holiday. And want to wait till Friday to look at Mercury mariner. I had nowhere to go after driving all way from Chicago Illinois Trying to get to Mississippi To my parents. He fixed my wheel. Also helped me again after finding out that the spare tire I had was bad he came on the highway to help me again. Took my drove back to the shop repaired it. Then brought it back and put it on the vehicle. He was truly heaven sent. Because of I made it to my family for Thanksgiving. He also wanted us to call him back to make sure that we made it to Mississippi. God bless him, all his family and his business. If I lived anywhere near this area I bring all my vehicles to him horn's. I wish could've payed more. The world need more guys like him. It would be a much better place. What a giving spirit.
