This was our third time staying here, and it was the best yet! We stayed in Forest Lodge, Which ones newly updated and had a delightful view of the forest. We were so happy With everything, not only a great location with a hard to find old Tahoe vibe, but just as important everyone at the front desk was so cheerful and helpful. The breakfasts there are great, and the food at their restaurant is first rate. Will definitely come again!

Our recent stay at Granlibakken, was made extraordinary by the impeccable service provided by Sam. Despite the inconvenience of being without power for two days, Sam's proactive and attentive approach ensured our comfort. From assisting with food arrangements to sharing valuable tips for skiing, he seamlessly blended professionalism with genuine hospitality. His local suggestions for entertainment revealed his deep knowledge and enthusiasm for the area, enhancing our overall experience. Beyond his professional demeanor, Sam added a touch of warmth and fun to our experience, Granlibakken is fortunate to have such a dedicated and personable professional on their team.

The room was nice not a problem big and comfortable. The service was ok the food is amazing just when we had went to the pool/hot tub there was these weird guys that touched my mom inappropriately and my almost my auntie, and they was naked in the pool beating there meat kinda weird and tried touching me too ( I m 17) and they said they was from all over the world switching there story s every time and one was edging too kinda crazy.? and they was very drunk it s just there was no staff there but that was really the only problem so far. And the weather was bad but I mean it is a ski resort so. Not really kid friendly.

Very old school Tahoe hotel so don't expect modern rooms; but, everything you need is there and done well and priced fairly. It's very family friendly so you will be surrounded by families with small children.

Amazing family resort!! All in one spot so we can ski/snowboard and walk back to our room at any moment. We had 5 days of snowboarding lessons and all coaches were amazing as well as the front desk staff.

We're long time Granlibakkin customers and, I should add, friends of the Granlibakkin family. We've had several winter lodging arrangements over the last 30+ years, but Granlibakkin has been our "Home Away from Home" for the last 20! We live on the coast (Monterey) and getting our family to Tahoe for ski season is super important to us. Pulling into Granlibakkin, seeing Ron (owner) and the front desk staff is always a friendly relief after a long drive in the car and all the ski season anticipation. Breakfast is a big bonus! ...so nice to leave the site with a full belly: pancakes, omelettes, bacon, and potatos! The Cedar House Restaurant is open 7 days a week! So nice to walk to such a nice dinner! We love our little corner in the forest here in Tahoe City. Thanks Ron and the Granlibakkin staff (Joshua)! Ed n Lynn

What a great first impression Granlibakken made! The resort is tucked away south of Tahoe City. We saw the sign to go into the resort and was greeted with an adorable set of starry lights on lamps guiding us to the resort. The lobby itself was nestled a bit more deep into the resort (for us, we came in through the poolside so had to loop around) but wasn't hard to find. One of the things I really loved about the Ganlibakken was just how friendly every single person was and full of character. People were not only chill but just super helpful and kind. I had a broken zipper on my jacket and the staff at the front desk were so nice in just offering advice and trying to open the zipper as well. There was also an ice scraper available to utilize which was uberhelpful for us as it snowed a bunch when we were there. The rooms were spread out across several buildings throughout the property and the inside was super comfy. The heater worked well. The beds and blankets were super warm. The view outside of all the snow was wonderful. The shower was solid and had good pressure/temperature. There was a small closet, microwave, and fridge as well.Love also that the resort is created where you should be able to get to most of the amenities by walking. So even though our room was more north, we were able to walk to the restaurant pretty easily if we needed to without driving around as well as the pool. (Just be aware that pathways of course are slippery in the winter). I also loved the various activities around like the jacuzzi/pool that were open in the afternoon during the winter to of course the snow hill with sledding/lessons for skiing and snowboarding. Really neat and will review those separately. Even the food was all surprisingly solid when it was the last thing I expected!Slight pain points that the hotel was aware of!*The WiFi was super spotty. The hotel tried to help with more options for Wifi codes but unfortunately didn't quite work right.*The gym itself isn't too bad with some free weights / some cardio machines / a barbell. It was leaking though during our visit so some of the gym was inaccessible. Also recommended to bring your own towel and wipes as they weren't available in the gym as well as your own music.*Be aware that parking may fill up close to your room. Also, if you are planning on using the snow hill on the property, I'd recommend taking the car if you can so your supplies are nearby. Although that area fills up a bunch, parking is usually available at least to the sides of the snow hill. Can't wait to come back!

This is absolutely one of my favorite places to stay. Get a cabin which has three separate rooms with locked doors and stay with friends or family. It is rustic and you should not expect staying in a place with marble countertops but it is so beautiful. It's in the pines. They have an obstacle course that is amazing and so fun. The food is really fabulous. I just love it here. I have been to this hotel about five times now.

The room was fine but a bit overpriced but my checkin experience and service why I am leaving a poor review. I checked in and noticed my room was cold but didn't think much about it and left to meet family for dinner. When I returned to the room in the evening if was obvious the heating was not working. I called the front desk and he said he would send maintenance. After sitting in the freezing room during a snow storm I might add for nearly 40 mins I called back to the front desk and asked when maintenance is coming that the room is freezing. The guy seemed shocked asked me "they didn't arrive?". I say of course not, that's why I am calling. He says he "guesses they will be there soon" and hangs up. Maintenance finally arrives and they confirm there is nothing to do and tell me to call front desk. The guy says he will change rooms and I have to come to the front desk. The go down and the guy gives me attitude and acts like I created the scenario. I say look I just want a warm room. He finally gives me a key to a new room but refuses to give me a print out of the WiFi code which they had done when I originally checked in. Instead he says I have to call him from the new room once I am in and he will give me the code. Again with more rude attitude. I get to the room and call him and he says "one second he needs to put me on hold". After sitting on hold for 15 mins I call back and he gives me more attitude and says "I am busy" and puts me on hold without him saying he is putting me on hold, just clicks it. I am stuck waiting another 10 mins for him to come back and give me the code. The whole scenario is even more annoying because the hotel is a dead zone so without WiFi I have no way to contact anyone. The whole scenario took nearly 2 hours to finally get checked into my room and have everything working. The heating was one thing but having rude employees takes the scenario to a much worse place. His attitude and lack of work probably turned a 30 min situation into nearly two hours of my time wasted.

The location is fantastic and so peaceful in the hills and woods. We checked in late and had a room issue since we booked a king-size bed, but they only had doubles left. Then the TV and thermostat wasn't functioning properly, so their front desk finally was willing to give us another room the next day for an upgrade to a single suite. We were out exploring the next day, so we decided not to change the room. This is overall a nice lodge to stay at. Had a cabin feel to it and is very cozy and homely. Had nice on-site amenities and a jacuzzi tub and pool. I would still stay there again but be sure to check in early as the room may change according to their availability.Rooms: Rooms could use some modernizing and updating but offer the cozy cabin feel.Food & drinks: There's an outdoor dining area with a full bar and a dining area for breakfast included with hotel stay.

Sorely unimpressed by the resort's lodging, events, and activities reservation process on their website. Then handling of communications (or lack thereof) by the staff at this establishment.Only to receive a very hostile callback at midnight on a weekday from their night auditor?! What a jerk.Glad I got the red flag well before spending thousands of dollars on a New Year's weekend visit with enough time to cancel our stay altogether and find a better managed property elsewhere.

This is actually a great place to stay in North Tahoe in terms of amenities and proximity to activities. They have 6 tennis courts, hot tub, pool, gym, ski and sledding and their own restaurant all within the resort. They also have a walkable trail down the street from the resort that leads to other hiking trails and the Truckee bike trail (that leads into town). It is also close to the Olympic Village and about 30 minutes from Incline Village. Right behind the resort is the Tree Top Adventures/Zipline company. Easily drivable to a lot of different places. Extra note: their resort is pet friendly so there were a lot of doggos! The only issue I really had was how thin the walls and floors were though. And I didn't exactly have light footed neighbors either. They spent all night like they were having a party or moving furniture or something. Their footsteps were SO LOUD (thankfully I always have earplugs packed for situations like this). You can also hear people talking in the next room over. Minus the room walls and floor issues though, had a good time!

Went for mother's Day brunch, overall was nice. We got there right when it started and they were a little unprepared but quickly got their acts together. Food was top notch with both variety and quality. Ambiance was nice with the live music and aesthetics. My biggest complaints would be price, and the quality of their mixed drinks. $60 per person is a bit egregious for what you are getting and without being on the lake. And the mixed drinks were very poor with most tasting like water. It seems like their bartender was running around putting out fires so other people were standing in that probably shouldn't have been. Not the biggest issues, but something to keep in mind and hopefully they will fix in the future. Overall I would go back and partake again.

We came from the bay area to give our child an experience of snow and we were very pleased with our choice. Our room was a good value with a full functional kitchen. The staff were very helpful in making everything easy. We got to do all the snow things right outside our door. The winter time outdoor nighttime heated swimming pool and hot tub was a distinctive experience. Highly recommended..

Service was great. Lia was super helpful to help me recover my lost headset.Great place for kids and the nicest and longest area for sledding. 5 minutes away from Tahoe city , restaurants and supermarket. 13 minutes to Alpine (Palisades).Breakfast included and full kitchen in the rooms are a huge plus.Highly recommended.

The staff at Granlibakken are super nice and welcoming! Easy check-in/out. Great location, off the main roads so you'd enjoy the quiet nights. The only downside - there was no AC in the room I booked (standard queen bedroom) and the air was a bit stagnant.

I have been coming to this resort of about 20 years! We have actually come here almost every single year just to use their famous sled hill. It is quite massive and just a short walk up the hill, which is great exercise. I m not exactly sure how big their ski runs go up on the mountain, but I know they do have classes and equipment rentals to learn how to ski and snowboard.I couldn t believe it when I saw their sign pulling in this year that they have been open for an entire 100 years!I was a little disappointed that they re sledding cost so much to be honest. It was $35 for adults and about 18 for children under three. So if you have any kids just tell them that they are three years older or younger! I was also a little surprised that they were a cut off times and that they were selling sliding tickets for mornings and afternoons separately. Luckily, one hour was plenty of time to get all of the kids wiggles out but I had no idea there was going to be a time cut off.Did you have a small snack bar/restaurant with a cozy seating area and picnic benches outside with heaters. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.
