I brought my vehicle to another mechanic in Martinez for a heating issue. I was told that I need to replace the heater core, a $2000 job. A good friend of mine referred me to Harold. I m glad I took his advice and saved me a good chunk of change. They were through about diagnosing the root of the heating problem. Not like the other mechanic in Martinez. I m surely be taking my vehicles here. Did I mention, these guys are honest and knowledgeable. That s what important. Thank you Harold and your crew.

This service should not be tolerated in our community. Clayton Valley Auto Service will bully you if you have any brains and most likely rip you off if you have no clue what you are doing. Bad business here, really pisses me off, I also feared for my safety.

Harold was very informative on the brake service that they performed on my vehicle. My brakes were making noise, loose and not responsive. He told me to drive it around and I felt an immediate difference. Problem solved.He also made several recommendations in preventive maintenance to help extend the life of my car given that it has a lot of miles.Thanks, guy!Service: Brakes

I love going to Clayton Valley Auto Service as Jeff and all those who work there are friendly, knowledgeable and do a very good job. When I had a check engine light Jeff's dad told me right off the top that it could be 4 or 5 different things and they would start out with the least expensive until they found out what the trouble was. I'm still driving that van around 5 years later. I really appreciate the great service they give. They are really great for routine maintenance, and wonderful when I have emergencies.

My car wouldn't start in the Safeway parking lot. AAA came and started the car they recommended Clayton Valley auto so I drove around the corner and they had the battery and gave me a quote and said it would be ready in an hour and a half. Gave the ok and 45 minutes later they were done and I highly recommend them. Friendly staff.

My car kept dying and needing to get jumped, the issue came up again at the most inconvenient time and the owner squeezed me in before they closed that day. The mechanic replaced my car battery so I could go on a trip to Yosemite with my wife without any issues! The check engine light was on when I came in and got everything cleared up for a smooth trip. I had a problem with my one of my work trucks, these guys diagnosed and offered to fix the problem same day (new water pump). Did it all at a fair price too. Because of their awesome service and responsiveness immediately set an appointment for them to look at one of my other vehicles. I strongly recommend this company.

Very knowledgeable helpful and really nice guys. I am disabled and can't even change my own headlight. I pulled in and asked if they could do it for me and how much the guy said he would just put it in for me at no charge because he was off the clock and going home. I will definitely bring my car back to them for any thing else.

Finally! Screeching starts have ended!A note of thanks to Duane, John, and ultimately Harold for silencing a horrible screeching noise that we've been dealing with for wayyyyyyy too long (We brought it into previous shop for that very reason & after replacing belts and still screeching, was told it would "work itself out in time"). Thankfully, the daily ear piercing torture is over and it seemed it was a simple tightening of the belt. I'm also very impressed with the customer service given by all the gentlemen mentioned, I highly recommend Clayton Valley Auto Services. They truly do provide excellent customer service

Whenever we're headed on a road trip, they give our van a thorough once over to make sure our vehicle is safe to travel. my family had been going to this place for years, it being around the corner from our house. We came in to get the AC checked and also to get checked for an oil leak. They told us on the phone checking would be free. When we got there he gave us an invoice to sign stating that it would be $131 to diagnose the AC and $131 to check for an oil leak. He then explained that that was just how the computer does the setup on the paper and that he would not charge us to check the oil leak but that even if we did not get the AC fixed we would be charged $131 to check the AC and that fixing the AC would probably cost $1600. We decided to not do anything about the ac and to still get the oil leak checked. He then said he made the changes in the computer and the total would be $0 for everything. We said ok and he asked us to sign the same invoice with the charges for the the AC and oil leak check and labor coming to over $300. When we asked him to sign something that reflected what he told us, only a free check for an oil leak, he told us that he gave us his word and that he "can't go printing out a bunch of papers" and said "you can take it somewhere else". so, being asked to sign something that did not remotely reflect what he said and being asked to leave, we left. I was absolutely shocked at the terrible customer service, you can't expect someone to sign something that says they will automatically owe you over three hundred dollars when you are saying it will be free just because you are too stubborn or cheap to print out a second, accurate, invoice. When I called back to explain what happened to the guy we usually deal with, the son of the man that served us, he did not have anything to say or seem to care at all, despite the fact that we have been going to them for years. Also, they wanted $60 for an oil change, which I can do myself, or get it done anywhere else for around $20.
